Wow. This community rocks. Everything explained in no time. Thanks a lot! I might have further questions after tonight's session, but for now, I understand completely. Tanks again.

I'm at a loss here. I'm confused about the listing of some weapons and the effects their +1, +2, etc have. Bear with me...

A normal short sword is listed as
Short Sword (1d6 / 19-20)

A Short Sword + 1 can be masterwork or magic.
If masterwork, it gains +1 to Attack, but not to Damage
If magic, it gains +1 to Attack and +1 to Damage

So... will a Magic Short Sword +1 be listed as
Short Sword +1 (1d6+1 / 19-20) ?
I mean, will the stats already incorporate the +1 into the damage, or do I have to do this myself?

I came upon this problem because I bought Crypt of the Everflame as my first real adventure after the Beginner Box. At the back of the book, I find a few pre-generated characters.

Valeros is equipped with a
Longsword +3 (1d8+3 / 19-20) (i thought the Damage+3 was because of the magic +3)
but he also has
a Short Sword +2 (1d6+1 / 19-20)

Is this a completely made-up short sword that for some reason deals more damage, and do I need to add the +2-magic-attack-and-damage-bonus myself? Or is the bonus already in the statblock, and if so, why is it only +1 while it's a +2 weapon.

Same goes for Merisiel's dagger
Dagger +3 (1d4+1 / 19-20)

Thanks everyone. Last saturday we played our very first Pathfinder adventure: the beginner box Black Fang Cave. I took some time explaining a couple of rules and luckily all of them had watched these 'Pathfinder Basics'-video's I had found on youtube.

When I read the rules before we started, it all made a lot of sense and it seemed so simple, but as soon as they appeared in the game, we had to recheck everything. I thought the transition from Beginner Box to full core rules would go very fluently, but I see now that this will indeed take more time.

I encouraged my players to use the Charge maneuver every so often, I teached them about flanking and cover and we even had a little encounter with some Attacks of Opportunity. I found out these are pretty hard when your party is fighting in a cramped little cave, and it makes the combat a little stiff, since nobody seemed to be able to move anywhere without provoking a AoO.

Anyway, we had fun and learned a lot. I kept the loot to a minimum as Zedth suggested, I added the rules they needed when they asked for something special like Woo suggested and I'm already learning about the rules necessary for running Crypt of the Everflame - Beginner Box Style.

Thanks a lot, guys. If you still have suggestions for which rules to add first and which ones to keep until later, I'd sure appreciate it.

Our group is fairly new to RPGames. We're taking turns learning a system and explaining it to eachother through a campaign. It's my turn now, and I've chosen the Pathfinder system. I want my players to really love it and get into it, without blasting them with rules from the get go. So I've bought the Beginner Box and I'm running the dungeon this weekend. But as I said, our group is fairly new to Tabletop Roleplaying, but I'm afraid they might get bored if I leave them in the safe environment of the Beginner Box for too long, without (for example) Charge, Bull Rush or Disarm options.

So my question to all you BBox-DM's out there...
When did you feel like your players were ready to take it to the next level and suffer the full extent of the Core Rules? How much time did you spend with the Beginner Box, teaching them the basics? Did you run a couple of adventures, adding rules as you progressed (and if so, which ones?) or did you immerse them immediately in a full PF-module, like Crypt of the Everflame?

Question about the CR 1/3 skeletons....

The skeletons as presented in the module are CR 1/3 each. They had two attack options:

(Attack Option #1) Rusted Scimitar +0 (1d6) and Claw -3 (1d4+2)

or

(Attack Option #2) 2 Claws +2 (1d4+2)

I played them as Attack Option #2....each skeleton got two claw attacks at +2, which has potential to do 3-6 damage per attack, or 6-12 damage per round from each skeleton. Seems pretty powerful for a CR 1/3 creature.

I wiped the party out in two rounds with these things....am I playing that right? Should it just be one attack? The players were a little upset with me. :-)

As a beginning GM, I wondered the same thing. Will this be a TPK-encounter for my adventurers?

Alright, thanks everyone. Seems the Paizo Webshop has been updated and the book is back on the shelves. I just thought maybe there was a new printing coming out... Buying now!

Hi,

I just checked the shop to buy myself a copy of the Core Rulebook, but it seems they are temporarily out of print. I did find an available copy on another webstore however.

Should I wait for the Paizo-shop to restock? Will the newly printed books have corrected rules, errata, added content, etc? Or will it be the same book and is there no reason for me to wait?

Also, is the quality of the binding and the paper still as bad as it was several years ago? I read a lot of comments complaining about that. I wouldn't keep me from buying the book, I'm just asking out of interest.. and not to get my hopes up too high :)
