Toranaga takes some of the food and torches, a vial of the healing potion and the ring.

"I'll join you."

"On second thought, I recall Kraeg was just given one."

That's what I get for having such a low Wisdom score.

"This runestone you people want us to recover should be placed in a special container, don't you agree? A bag of holding should be most helpful."

"Well this place isn't bad."

"But think of the opportunities, Vilya. When we get home we'll be carting off loads of battle spoils...."

"Your boss introduced himself. Can you not do the same?" Toranaga tells the dark cloaked man.

"Let's cut to the chase. This stone thing is very valuable to you. And this is a job you can't do for yourself at this time. We would like to know what you can give us by way of support to ensure that the job get's done. Weapons. Potions. Equipment. All will be appreciated."

"Was? You speak of this Halaster Blackcloak in the past tense. You believe he is dead, yes?" Shaking his head, Toranaga mutters, "Figures. When I find a worthy challenge, they find a way to thwart my destiny by dying." Toranaga drains the last of the honeybeer, "You don't mind if I have another, Rollo?"

After taking a long swallow of honey beer, Toranaga asks, "What is the name of this mad, powerful wizard?"

"Rollo Ashenflame, greetings. I am Yoshi Toranaga. These are my companions. Do you have some of that honeybeer I have been hearing so much about?" Toranaga takes a seat, feeling confident that this short fellow has heard of his achievements, his legend. A fan.

"Ok. That that's been settled. Shall we go in? Wouldn't want to keep our 'host' waiting... that would just be plain bad manners."

"Onward then I say to this Elfstone Tavern!"

"Barkeep, directions to this Elfstone Tavern would be most helpful! The sooner we know where, the sooner we are outta here and trouble with us!"

"Got nothing better to do at the moment. Let's go to this place. And if it turns out to be an ambush, then the rude person who wrote that letter will just have to die."

Toranaga raises his mug, "A toast. To us, in whatever world we may be, may our names stand the test of time." Then Toranaga drains his mug.

Noticing the grin on Dron's face, "I take it that you approve."

While the others are reading the letter left by that rude fellow, Toranaga shouts, "Barkeep, another round!"

"How rude!"

"I am Yoshi Toranaga. Where I come from it is considered bad manners not introduce one's self," Toranaga says calmly.

"Finally. I thought I was never going to see food again. My thanks." Toranaga presses a gold piece into the palm of the serving wench.

"Barkeep, it is our first time in your fair city. Know of any puissant mages living here?"

"Well, me darling, I'll be having a your mug of your finest brew and some roasted meat and bread, if you have any. But I'm not too particular about the food."

After the woman leaves to fill out the order, Toranaga pulls his sword out of its scabbard and starts to polish it.

"In a city this big, there's bound to be a wizard dabbling in forbidden lore."

Toranaga looks for an appealing serving wench.

Toranaga looks for an empty table at a corner, so the party can discuss their situation privately.

Not wanting to let Vilya's reply change the guard's impression of the party, "Of course, you can count on us to keep him," pointing at Dron, "out of mischief."

Wiping the sweat and dust that has accumulated, Toranaga gives the guard the warrior's salute, fist over the heart, "Greetings to you as well, guardsman. I am Yoshi Toranaga. My companions and I are brave adventurers newly arrived from one of our fantastic quests. We are in dire need of food and drink. Kindly direct us to your city's finest inn."

Why?! The bars here never close.

Rad-I would say yes, your training keeps you in line, most humans are both by nature anyway

Alright! Drinks are on me!

Oh well. "Come on, let's go! Just a little further to food, beer, a nice warm bath and a soft bed!"

Toranaga looks for any sign identifying the name of the city.

As he marches forward, Toranaga can be heard singing a tune:

"It's forty shillings on the drum
To those who volunteer to come,
To 'list and fight the foe today
Over the Hills and far away."

"Hey Dron! Food's over there!" Toranaga points to the north.

"Come on. I don't know about you guys but I'm already thinking of that hot bath I'll be having once we get to an inn."

"Hey! Old Man! What's the name of this place?!" Toranaga shouts.

Turning to his companions, "Well, you heard the old man. We head north. I gather we'll be there before sundown if we hurry. Let's go."

Zoomackulas Eichendar wrote:

The old man sits back a bit eyeing the half orc, the mule shifts a bit unsteadly also but the old man has a good grip on the reins. The old man turns back to Toranaga and says,

If its a place to stay and get some food, your best bet would be to follow this road north for about an half hour and you'll reach the big city. Many places to stay there if ye got the coin that is young man

"Thank you for the information. Are you headed for the city by any chance?"

To my fellow team mates, here are some things that your PCs have found out about Toranaga in the time that have been together.

He doesn't fight women and children. "No women, no children."

He also salutes any enemy before fighting. "I am Yoshi Toranaga. Prepare to die."

And he doesn't strike anyone who appear incapable of defending themselves. "Don't turn your back on me! Face me so I can kill you with a clean conscience!"

Also he always carries his sword wherever he goes and he practices some weird style of sword play. "Ohmygod! He killed that ogre with one blow!

BTW, any thoughts on our team's marching order?

I was thinking Dron and Toranaga up front, the mages in the second rank, while Triska is the rear guard, who can take advantage of her ranged specialization.

"Ha ha ha... So sorry to hear that you have mistaken our group for brigands. A man so wise in the ways of life such as yourself can clearly see that we DON'T mean you nor your property any harm. I am Yoshi Toranaga. These are my companionns. We are brave adventurers returning from one of our fantastic journeys and we need to find an inn." Toranaga eloquently discloses but in a louder tone of voice. "Know of any inns or hostels nearby?"

I'd offer gold but that would completely go against Toranaga's training as a warblade.

Dron Drox wrote:
Dron appears from behind Toranaga, "Where food?"

"Be patient, my friend. Food we shall find, ok?" Toranaga tells Dron goodnaturedly while keeping his eye on the old man. Why am I uneasy? Surely this old man poses no threat. But what would he be doing in the middle of nowhere unescorted?

"We ask the old man where we can get food, Dron."

Toranaga then confidently strides out to meet the old man and his mule, "Greetings, I am Yoshi Toranaga. My companions and I are in need of board and lodging. Can you help?"

BTW, Yoshi is my PC's family name. Given name is Toranaga.

"Yes, you are correct in your observation, Dron." Toranaga jokingly adds, "And we don't try to kill him until he tries to kill us. He might be one of my many fans or creditors, I forget. Ha ha ha!"

Though weary,Toranaga cannot bear to present an uncouth appearance. He wipes the dust from his face and travel clothes and adjusts his gear to present a gallant image.

"Friends, that old man over there can surely direct us to the nearest shelter, if not, inn. Let us approach him openly so that he will not think us brigands."

BTW, Zoom, what time of day is it?

Toranaga is ready for inspection.

Zoom, I still need to finalize, equipment, remaining cash, encumberance and the background.
