I'm 8 and a quarter! Or at least I was when you first met me. Am I still the same age four years later like all the other iconics? Except Ezren. He looks about the same but did you know he was s'posed to be like 40 before? And now he's older and stuff.

Unlike that other guy, I'm a kineticist.

The closest approximation is 'Mirthful Evening-Feather', which is a bit longer and complex than the name would seem to indicate.

I... may have been a bit of a trouble-maker when I was younger. It's amazing how plumbing can back up if it isn't... properly mapped out or if someone gives you the... wrong blueprint.

Plumbing is kind of a mystery, but it must be dangerous because it involves a lot of water. And if there's anything worse than water, it's probably potty water.

Hi Yoon, how would the following events make you feel:

1. lifting a couch that Amiri tried and failed to lift?
2. becoming (probably) the youngest visbaroness in the history of Taldor at the tender age of 8 (and a quarter)?

(Playing a certain PFS adventure with Yoon produced hilarious results! XD)

I don't really remember that stuff, but it sounds pretty awesome...well, as long as being a vis-whatever doesn't make me wear that awful dress from when we sneaked into the ball.

Did you know there's a Yoon working for the Pathfinders that's also a kineticist? She's kinda weird, though - she uses some icky dark energy instead of awesome fire. Have you met her?

I think maybe I saw her in a vision on the mountain. Alahazra says that there are lots of different ways that things could be that didn't happen and are like alternate realnesses or something. Maybe she was from there. There was a time when I couldn't control black fire that came out of me and it hurt, it hurt so bad. I hope she isn't hurting like that.

Have you considered making your crossbow magically conductive? If you did you could shoot holes into them AND set them on fire at the same time.

Seems expensive and not really worth it for me. Crossbows miss a lot. I'd rather gather the energy of fire and unleash an eruption of flame on all the baddies instead! It's still worth it to have a weapon for those stupid devils, but much as I love love love fire, there's not much point in having the weapon do fire too since if fire works, I'll use fire instead!

Never have and never will! Gom-Gom can be healed with make whole if we have to, but so far so good. He's very careful, so he stays safe.

To be honest, I'd never given that any sort of thought. Between Tengu and Taldan, I've not spoken a lot of Tien since adventuring with the Society.

Given how my life's been working out, though? The name is right.

Sorry for the seemingly late response.

Some sort of 'time thing' Kreighton was playing with made a lot of time disappear somehow.

Also, if you are ever up in southern Isger, be sure to check out Doomland!

It's a fun amusment park in Dustpawn, or so I've been told!

If you could have 1d4 ⇒ 2 different super-powers, what would they be and why?

(Assume corollary powers required to make a given power work are part of it; i.e. Since you'd need super tensile strength/durability to, you know, not-die when you made use of your super-strength power, you get them both when you say "super strength" as a singular option.)
Why?

If, instead, you could be a gestalt of 1d2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 super heroes, who would you gestalt to be yourself? Why? Which comic universe would you run around in? Would you prefer to be in that one, or this one?

On the other hand: BAM! You just gained 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1, 5) + 2 = 11 levels in a Pathfinder class (or classes)! Which class(es) do you pick, and why? Incidentally, if you could spontaneously switch races, would you? And if so, to which?

Similarly, you won the super-lottery, and gained mythic tiers! 3d3 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) + 1 = 8 of 'em! (And you gain class levels to match; please feel free to change your previous answer if this does so for some reason.) What path do you take? (Alternate option: substitute a single tier for a simple mythic template.)

Yet another query: you monster. Specifically, you CR: 1d30 ⇒ 7 (or less) monster! Which are you?! ... and would this have been your first choice? If not, which would be?

But the wheels of fate-time have spun again, and your everything has been transposed into that of someone else! You've just become a prepublished NPC from an official source! Which prepublished NPC is it?

What campaign setting do you run around in? Why?

As a final thing: blend any and/or all of the above questions into a single ginormous question: an optional blend of a prepublished NPC, monster, and some superheroes all walk into a bar... and out comes you, as a gestalt of those guys, the race you choose, some extra superpowers, and have extra class levels and mythic tiers on top! What are you?! (Other than "awesome" - naturally.)

Equipment is a non-issue (like adjunct super-powers; what you need to do <X> is assumed). Also note that any significant others can be brought with you.

"Official" and "Pre-published" are loose terms, but general expect something that has a solid publishing company and identifiable map/world/conceits behind it (like WotC for Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Dark Sun, Greyhawk, etc; or Green Ronin for Blue Rose, but not "True20"; or Paizo for Golarion, or the Maelstrom, or the upcoming Starfinder; but not "the Bestiaries" or "the Planes" or things like that - basically things that people can find and nerd out about with you). Similarly, if it has a solid AP out for it, that, too, is acceptable (like Legendary Planet; or any of Paizo's APs). It should probably be a d20 variant, but it can be whatever you like of those many variants (True20, Blue Rose, Paizo, 3.5, 3rd; etc.). That said, if a Homebrew or otherwise "weak" entry just needs to be there due to compelling reasons... okay. Similarly other systems. Let us know why! Computer and video game translations of such (Neverwinter Nights and/or expansions/sequels; PFO; etc) are acceptable as interpretations as well.

Similarly, for comics, it needs to be superheroes that people can reasonably be expected to come across - "that one I made up with my cousin as a kid" is an awesome answer, and worth noting and why, but prrrrooooobabaly isn't the best choice, unless it's just so powerful that you've GOT to. In which case: sure, but bring us along for the ride! Related, the super need not come from one of the "big two" in comics, so long as the people and world is both recognizes me and accessible - choosing The Incredibles world is valid, as is Spawn (blech); you're not just limited to Marvel or DC. Similarly "standard" powers need not apply - so long as it is clearly communicable, it's fine (even if all the field specifics aren't clear, that's okay - knowing you're powered by our yellow star is fine; you don't need to know this, but it's acceptable if you do).

Finally, presume you have the basics necessary for a happy life. Your spouse, best friend, and so on, can all be considered to "come with you" (should they choose to do so) wherever it is that you go.

Oh, and one more thing: if you lived through a Legend of Zelda (as one of the Links); which would it be, and why?

I'd pick fire control. Maybe super-fast flying too, but with fire.

What's a super hero? Is that like someone with really awesome powers? In that case, I'd pick me and Eomma. She's my superhero.

I'd pick human fire kineticist because it's the beeeeeest!

There are too many good mythic thingies. I'd go dual path with at least one them as guardian but I can't decide on champion or trickster for the other one. Probably guardian and champion.

I pick Huge fire elemental, but Ymeri would probably be a cooler monster to be but she's more powerful than that. Oh wait, is the Lady of the North Star a monster? She's nice so she wouldn't strike me down for asking that I think.

A prepublished NPC? I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I think maybe I count, so I turn back to normal. Ha! Take that transformer-beam person!

I run around in Golarion. Why? You're weird. Because I was born there. Duh!

I'd be me, but super mythic and the Elemental Lord of Fire with powers like Ymeri except for nicer and stuff and fitting for me. If you can't be happy with who you are, how can you be happy? But that doesn't mean you can't also be an Elemental Lord of Fire too!

I don't know what a Link is but is there a red one with fire-based powers? I pick that one!

I like Kyra because she burns things with the fire of the sun. I always found it strange that her weird Avistan sun goddess and Shizuru are both the sun goddess though, don't you? Alahazra told me I shouldn't ask Kyra about that though.

Merisiel is fun to hang out with because she's a grown-up but she still likes to have fun. And I guess she's a bajillion years old because she's an elf or something and elves are supposed to be really smarter and stuff but I don't know if she really is.

I remember that other guy. Feiya said he was Seelah's auntie or something like that. He's really mean and bad. I wouldn't want an auntie like him.

Have you ever considered enchanting Gom-Gom?

In recent artwork where did you get that nice big hammer?

Gom-Gom doesn't need enchantments because he's perfect the way he is.

That was a much more funner adventure than that awful one where I had to wear a dress and use magic to go to a ball! So we went to the Elemental Plane of Fire and there was so much fire and they had me pose for cool pictures there. It was the best! You should go to the Elemental Plane of Fire too some time. But try not to burn up when you go there because that's not as fun.

Awesome magic and fireworks and neat belts and diadems and sweets and all sorts of great stuff!

Lord Gadigan wrote:

Where did you get the cool dress with the fire pattern on it?

Did you multiclass, or did you get someone else to cast Wizened Appearance on you? I figured you were staying a Kineticist, but the picture makes it look like you're casting it (or are you summoning an elemental that looks like you?).

Remember when I said I didn't like to "put up with something nasty I'm not allowed to burn, like in that other picture in a book you haven't seen." That's the one! Bleeeeeeargh. That dress the others made me wear was so uncomfortable, and the magic spell made me feel super weird and off-balance. I don't see why they thought I wouldn't fit into a noble ball like I always am! In the picture, I'm making fire because fire is awesome. I didn't cast that dumb spell.

Greetings, Yoon. It's a pleasure to meet you. I had a question for you regarding kineticist powers in general: What does Burn feel like? Is it an ache, tiredness, a sense of disconnection, or what?

Something most relevant for kinetic healers: Does Burn feel the same for non-kineticists? If not, how does it feel for them?

Thank you very much for your time, Yoon. I want to be able to give proper information to people who are going to a kinetic healer in Kintargo. (Capital city of Ravounel, formerly of Cheliax)

For me, it feels like a fire on the inside, burning and squirming and making me stronger but not as...I don't know the right word. Normal? Stable? Something like that. I think maybe not-kineticists feel something else, like whatever sort of power they have, or the healer had, is loose in their body and kind of eating at them a little.

Well she's super mega old since she's an elf, even older than Estra. Anyways, I'm not afraid of her.
Even when she's standing behind you?

When the fire is burning inside me, it's hard for someone like her to hurt me; she'll just hurt herself more than she hurts me. And I can just use fire to fly above her and she can't fly!

Have you thought about becoming an overwhelming soul? You can take Bluff and Diplomacy as class skills and become one of those scary kineticists.

On a related question, what city would you like to take over?

I think Eomma mighta been one of those oversoul things you're talking about. Her body was old and frail, but her fire still seemed really strong.

I probably wouldn't take over a city, but if I needed to pick one, I guess I would pick Kasai. The Jade Regent's men are the ones who killed Appa...Also, if we're counting ruined cities, I definitely pick Sangoshi, and part of taking it over means taking it back from the water. That's where the siyokoy come from and they killed Eomma.

Why would someone think that being polite is pathetic? It's just pretty weird.

Because it's not considered polite. Politeness would be accepting the gift with a gracious thanks, an acknowledgement of how the gift is useful to you or how it signifies your appreciation, and perhaps offering a gift of your own in return (doubly so if dealing with Fey).

What it comes down to, in the end, is a saying we have in our world (which is a bit of a long shot away from Golarion, or so I'm told): "When in Rome, do as the Romans do". Basically, it's understood that when you're a traveler, you adapt to the culture and traditions of the land you're visiting, rather than attempt to force them to accept those of your home.

... granted, we're not exactly the best at following that bit of advice, either....

Yep, you exotic Avistani people are weird, but I still know how you weird people do it, and I'm 8 and a quarter. How come Avistani people who come to Tian Xia and are really old still do it all wrong?

That creepy water girl, who wasn't extra creepy or anything but was creepy because of being watery, called it "elemental overflow" or something, like flowing water, and I think someone else called it an "aetherial wind" or something. Obviously burn is the real name because fire is the best element.

Hi Yoon! In your travels, where have you found the spiciest food?

There's spicy food in a lot of places, though Avistan is the least spicy. Hwan food is actually pretty spicy already compared to the more flavorless Avistani food, so it's sometimes hard to say, but several kinds of food from different parts of Tian Xia, Vudra, and Garund can be pretty spicy. Of course, I like Hwan food! Minkaian food isn't bad either. I had a lot of those two kinds growing up. Eomma would cook Hwan style when she was home.

You're supposed to decline a gift the first time to let the person giving it to you know how great a gift it was. If you just accept right away, that means that you either think they gave you a really bad or worthless gift or that you think that you are just far more important than the person giving it to you and so you deserve such a good gift. Either one is bad, but you know those crazy exotic Avistani with their weird cultures, right?
... yeah that's pretty much exactly the opposite of the way things work here. Turning down a gift on the first offering is seen as a rejection of the gift, and trying to offer someone a gift after they've rejected it is seen as begging for their attention and considered... well, kinda pathetic, really.

No, but its basically a giant ball of burning air that's strong enough to crush a dragon into a nickel. With the right protective gear and spells, you might enjoy it, however. Go ask Erzen if he can cast planar adaptation and interplanetary teleport yet. He owes you a favor.

So what is THE worst water based monster you can think of? Would that be water elementals or something that lives in water?

Well elder water elemental is pretty bad because it's made of water, but there's some other really dangerous ones. Shen is really powerful but not really that evil. Probably King Mogaru the kaiju is the worst. But thalassic behemoth and bone ship and really big brine dragon are pretty nasty too!

What's the worst water monster you ever had to fight?

Hmm, well, while I have hatred of constructs and swarms(and pretty much that attacks my mind) since those always almost kill me, I guess have to go with that ooze that grows in size when slashed and infects with tumors. That wasn't fun... I suppose it wasn't hardest monster I have encountered, thanks to a wizard burning them to death, but it certainly was one of more nastier ones.

Now what was BEST monster is much easier question to answer. So, what is the best monster you have ever fought? Best one for me was giant squid wizard.

Those ones you picked for worst water monster weren't even water monsters!

The best monster to fight is something like an elder ice elemental. It can't even fly and it's weak against fire.

You're eight and a quarter, right? Did you know that there is a tome of lore for adventurers which says young people shouldn't be allowed to go on adventures at all until they are at least nine years old?

It also says they have to be about the same height as old people, and probably shouldn't be allowed to do anything cool like control fire with their minds or be friends with talking foxes until they're fifteen... or get special permission.

On the other hand, the 'Bestiary' tomes say that the young are just smaller and usually better at different things than old people (e.g. better at dodging things, not so good at carrying heavy stuff).

What do you think? Are you different from the older people you have gone on adventures with?

Everyone knows that books aren't very smart, like people are. They're just writing on a page. Why do you think Ezren got caught by a noose? He's always studying his books all the time.

I dunno. Ring of fire elemental command is pretty awesome, but I'm more awesome than the ring on my own, so I don't need it. Orbs of dragonkind are pretty awesome too, so maybe that one, but I wouldn't use it to control dragons because the Lady of the North Star says you shouldn't take away someone's choices. I also like how the best orb is the fire gold dragon one. But then I heard that all those other powers are also because of trapping a dragon, so maybe the whole orb is bad. A vril staff can be pretty funny too. I thought the gem of dreams would be something from the Lady of the North Star, but it turned out to be mega evil! Flame of guidance is also pretty awesome, but if I had only one item, I wouldn't have a celestial lens, and I'm worried about letting water and cold hurt me more easily...

OK, I think I figured it out. Runner-up is flamma horacalcum, which is actually fire and also really really awesome, but I should be fair to air, so cloud castle of the storm king is probably the awesomest, but they need to make a kind that's fire!

What is your favorite type of animal?

What is your favorite type of dragon?

If you could visit another planet, which one would you go to?

My favorite animal is a bonghwang because it's awesome and has fire.

My favorite dragon is futsanglung because it's really strong and has fire, although it's evil, which is mean. I change my mind to magma dragon because it's actually made up of fire.

I don't know that much about planets, so I pick the North Star. Is a star a planet?

No, but its basically a giant ball of burning air that's strong enough to crush a dragon into a nickel. With the right protective gear and spells, you might enjoy it, however. Go ask Erzen if he can cast planar adaptation and interplanetary teleport yet. He owes you a favor.

Those spells sound too strong for Ezren. He's just a wizard, so he has to read all kinds of books to even do anything. That's why he's so old! Also, what's a nickel?

You're on the cover of Occult Origins! Congratulations!

Why do you think the derro want to net you so much? And why haven't they learned that it won't work?

Well duh people want me on their covers!

The derro do it because they're dumb. They probably think that since the word is "kidnap" that they have to take me, but then fire beats net, just like fire beats a lot of things.

As far as pictures go, I'd much rather have a derro throwing a net on me than have to put up with something nasty I'm not allowed to burn, like in that other picture in a book you haven't seen.

One more question for you, Yoon.

I think you should really have an avatar icon here on these boards. Don't you? (And who will you burn to get it?)

I don't know who I have to burn. If that Iammars guy who won the contest for a unique avatar steals my picture, then I'll burn him, but he's probably not allowed to pick me because I'm me! Do you have any suggestions on who to burn?

3) I think it's stupid to use fireballs against devils. Devils are the worst because fire doesn't work on them, so you have to blind them and let someone else finish them off.

So, Yoon, how do you handle devils?

There was this one time that I really felt like I was you (channeling my inner pyromancer, I guess), and I ran into some devils. And other things that were already on fire, but didn't burn. It was a bit rough.

I like to blow smoke at them, blind them, strip their magics, and just generally make them feel bad! If I gotta, I'm a pretty good shot with a holy crossbow bolt, but even though I love to burn bad guys, I don't have to be the one doing the awesomest shot every single time. A few times, like devils, someone else can get the glory. I'm not a big baby like Alain who whines and pouts whenever he can't bring his horse into a dungeon or if the enemy is in the air, or if he can't charge it because he always has to be the center of attention. The Lady of the North Star teaches that you have to be able to change your ideas to work for your bright future, not just expect that your same best idea will always win every time and hand it to you like Alain does. That's why people shouldn't treat me like a kid!

I recently learned that El Salvador's town of Najapa has a Fireball Festival in which they hurl kerosene soaked rags, wrapped in wire and then lit on fire at each other (video) to commemorate a volcano that erupted in 1658, forcing all of the villagers to relocate. Legend has it, the patron saint of El Salvador, Saint Jeronimo, fought off the evil of the Devil using fireballs from the volcano.

1) Have you ever participated in a festival like this?

2) Does it surprise you that, despite being a tradition for 90 years, very few injuries (outside of minor burns) or acts of vandalsim/arson have occurred over it's history?

3) What are your thoughts on this festival?

1) Not exactly. It sounds like fun!

2) Not really. People always blame fire for bad stuff, but it's usually just bad people who don't know how to be friends right with fire.

3) I think it's stupid to use fireballs against devils. Devils are the worst because fire doesn't work on them, so you have to blind them and let someone else finish them off. Maybe that's what Jeronimo did. Or I guess he was using magma which can hurt them a little.

Have you enjoyed this festival yourself?

Well, it depends on what minions the Devil used. If it was just evil spirits, then fireballs should work just fine, or it could have been evil men which means it would be a great choice.

As for myself, I've never participated. I've never even left my home country before.

That's true. Fire is usually a good choice. The Lady of the North Star teaches that you should travel and explore new things. Maybe go visit that place to see the festival!

Pyrokineticist, duh!

Have you ever been to Bonekeep?

Nope, not yet. Why don't you take me there? The name sounds like there might be some fun bone guys to burn.
