Hey folks, my guy and I are visiting London for a few days this week and would like to get our group some souvenirs from a gaming store here. We googled it, but that proved fruitless. The dice from Herrods were a little out of our price range, though it would be cool to have sixers with diamonds in them.

Any hints would be great! Thanks!

Ok, you guys, I don't even know what to do. I held off watching the very last episode of BSG for months, but now my boyfriend is almost through the 4th season, so the ending is nigh. We're trying to think of what to watch next and are drawing a blank. He'd like something more science fictiony, but I don't really know what to picks. Firefly is out, seen it bunches. Um. And that's all I've got.

Any help would be very appreciated.

I'm silly, posted that and went to bed.

Fixed!

Of course, kinda proves how bigoted they are that they'd think a bunch of sigs in a book was worth anything!

Btw, are you selling the messed-up book on Ebay?

No.

Well... he said that page 238 (or something) was messed up and jokingly asked for us to just send him a copy of that page signed by the editors.

Alison told him that we'd just go ahead and send a replacement copy of the whole book. Then we got thinking that it'd be a funny surprise to get that signed. So we did. :)

...and it was.

Thanks,
cos

Yep, that was my pop. He didn't want to have his picture taken so I did it for him.

Thanks, Cos and co. Your the best.

Nothing is too coincidental. Stop searching unblinkingly for faces in the woodgrain!

Wait... is that... is that me in a dress riding a turtle there on that oaken wall unit? Well I be damned...

I dreamt of a wolf in a dress on a tortoise once. He said his name The Jade, and I replied "Are you the one?"

"Whoa," he said, rumbling towards the bottom of the world, "I have an appointment with a man about a horse..."

Sigh. I've been working at the corporate office for a grocery chain for 2 months on a temporary position. It sucks, but I really need the money so I can get my own place (we're moving in tomorrow) and a new car (bought, on order, who knows when it'll show up). My supervisor pulled me aside to tell me I'm going back to the store on Monday. No more 40 hours/week, no more $9.50/hour, no more weekends off.

I am ambivalent about this.

On one hand, I will go back to my old job, which doesn't suck as hard and I'm actually good at. On the other, our finances are going to be considerably tighter. We just moved out of my mom's house and I swore to myself I'd never go back. Maybe I can get on Foodstamps now.

The funny thing, to me, is that astrologically something like this was going to happen. I've started studying astrology the past year, really getting down to the meat and grit of the thing. This week, there are several really weird conjuctions, oppositions, and placements that speak of change, ambivalence, transformation, break down of communication, and rethinking life. My BFFF had a really important realization about her art a few days ago that has the potential to really help her grow, my guy is really starting to deal with the grief of losing his father two months ago and getting back into his work, my mom is quitting her job, and now I'm changing jobs yet again. These incidents are too...coincidental?

This is a shameless plug for the blog my gaming group and I are starting, called D&D&D Street on wordpress. The core group (me, my dad, and two others) have been together for several years, and we've introduced three newbs this summer. My boyfriend is one of them, and this was his idea.

The idea behind the blog is to show how we play as a group, becuase we have some really interesting sessions sometimes, and to show what we do as a community. We game at my dad's house on D Street and throughout the years, my family has grown from the American midwestern norm (divorced mom and dad, one bro, two step parents) to about a dozen people I consider my family. We have lots of fun and really look out for each other, go on real world adventures, and play lots and lots of D&D.

The blog is still in it's infancy, so there's not much up yet, but there will be! Check it out!

D&D&D Street!

O_O; Man, I love you guys.

Thanks, Lisa. Those are great ideas. Ordering my cards on Friday, officially decided.

Hey there everrrrrybody.

What's up with item cards? How would a DM use them? Would a DM need to buy several packs of cards to be sure they had enough variety? Have other DMs succesfully incorporated them into their games? What's that been like?

I'm really diggin' the CoT item cards that have been released and want to incorporate them into my game. I was thinking about just getting that pack of cards, but at the same time, I feel like I still would need more. Not that I'm complaining, just trying to figure them out.

Your players did a good job! Very creative thinking.

Cool, thanks everyone! I knew I could count on you.

He decided on his own to be a cleric of Iomedae, with the idea of a world weary ER doc trying to do some good in this dark, dark world. I'll show him the Ordained Champion, though. He'll like that.

I definetely agree that every player needs to pick their own character, and play who they want, but I hate hate hate TPKs. I am a kind hearted DM (once you get past the bluster) and my players put a lot of work into these characters, so I'll stretch the rules around to keep them alive. Hence, trying to guide someone to be the cleric.

We are indeed using PFRPG, and I haven't had a chance to fully read the paladin class features. If they can cast Cure Light (and other healing spells), then I'll make sure my player is aware that he can use at least those wand. The Bard was a tenative idea, so that's why I was like "Oh noes."

And this is awesome! Thanks so much! Saving it forever!

We have a tiny problem in my group. No one wants to be a cleric. There are 2 players left who haven't rolled up characters, and one of them has to be some type of healer, or at least throw healing spells around. The only other divine caster type is a paladin, and I know a bard could throw around light healing as well, but those two classes combined aren't nearly as effective as a full blown cleric or druid. Also, we're playing Council of Thieves, which looks like it may have undead, but who knows, right?

How you all can help: Give me badass cleric ideas.

The guy who can most effectively play a cleric doesn't want to becuase they are 'gay'. The other player should not be a spellcaster, ever, becuase of mental handicaps. He does an ok job, but I know the group will get very aggravated at his lack of....ministrations, if you will.

The party layout is here.

Please, Paizo no Kenobi, you're my only hope.

I'm leaving work right now and it's going to be a few hours before I can check the internet again. I shall return, though. The Moon's in Capricorn, I'm keeping my promises. Till midnight at least, who knows what happens then.

Let's see who I can remember...

Hector Galonnica, LG Human Paladin of Iomedae who's parents run a secret, basement church (think early Christianity) dedicated to the Goddess. His character traits (he took the additional traits feat) are Westcrown Firebrand, Indomitable Faith, Reactionary, and something else I can't remember. Focusing on a protecter aspect of paladining.

Rizzo Ratso, LN tiefling monk orphan who was raised to be a temple whore; got bought at 12 by an elderly, compassionate (in Ratso's eyes) wizard who taught him to read, write, and the basics of magic. One day he got caught out in the open at night fall and was almost eaten by the shadow beasts that stalk the streets only to rescued by a beautiful dark haired swordswoman, who gave him a token to remember her by. The character will go into the Enlightened Fist PrC.

Unnamed half elven rogue, son of a Kyonin spy and a Chelish noblewoman who's thinking about being a bard one day. He's got half of a supposedly magical lute given to him by his father, smashed by his mother.

Unnamed half elven LG sorceror (bronze dragon lineage) from the coast. His dragon elder has taken it upon himself to 'hand raise' any of his supposed progeny, so the character has the Adopted and Magical Knack traits.

We've got 2 more players who need characters. One will be a tank I'm steering more towards a rogue/fighter friend of the half elf's, and the other who will probably be a cleric.

Everyone's really excited to play this campaign and I'm super stoked to run it!

The problem with Maddow is that she's a political hack like Olbermann, Limbaugh, and Hannity. Whatever she says you have to take with a grain of salt.

Yes, but I checked out what she said and it seems sound to me. So I trust it, as far as I trust anything on a cable news network.

So I had the weirdest dream last night...

I dreamed that Barack Obama had nominated me to the US Supreme Court. I remember thinking in the dream that if Sonia Sotomayor had such a rocky confirmation, there was no way a 28 year old gay guy with no legal experience was going to make it, but somehow it was like nobody noticed. Nobody even noticed that there was an appointment, or ever questioned it, and I was going to be sworn in. The only actual political figure who appeared in person in my dream was John Roberts, and he kept telling me I was going to do just fine. It was time for me to go to my swearing in, though, and I couldn't find suitable shoes to wear. Every time I looked down at my feet I was in a different pair of sneakers, and I kept thinking, "These won't do. If I don't find my dress shoes soon, I am going to be late for my own swearing-in ceremony."

Is that not the weirdest thing ever?

Better go get some new shoes.

Arg, my day was going just fine until I forgot that my dad's a jerk who won't do anything for anyone.

Every year, my family and friends all go to a music festival organized by a local lady. We usually don't get our crap together until the last minute and everything is quite slapdash. Not this year, says I! I'll get it together! Dad, will you make the reservations after I get it all figured out? Sure! he says, I'll do that!

Oh wait-he forgot he said that and we've been text arguing for 45 minutes. This is stupid for so many different reasons.

Anybody have any tips on how to make sure they select me for a jury? I'd like to stretch it out as long as possible.

Man, I don't check the boards for a few months and this is the first thread I find, awesome!

I just started a 40/week office job for the first time in my life. I'm a 22 year old woman who loves gaming of various types and other geekery. With the new job, plus all the things that need to get done once I am home from work, my gaming schedule has been drastically cut. No more computer games (other than click-point puzzle games), gaming maybe once a week, no more DMing, no more T.V., etc. Is this a personal choice? Yes and no. If I wanted to be exhausted for work everyday, I could have the same amount of gameage in my life. But, I'd rather be awake at work, so I read more (gets me nice and sleeepy) and game less. My boyfriend, on the other hand, is playing MORE computer/video games now that I'm around less. Why? Is this a trend of modern male and female geeks? Or is it just us?

I think that it's just a matter of choices-girls would game more if they didn't focus on other parts of their lives, which I guess translates into free time. But would we really? I think if I had more free time, say I only work 4 days a week or even 3, I'd still only game sporactically. But would another girl make the same choices? It's hard to say.

This thread is neat.

Yeah, the PC that this info is for is part of that prestige class already, but we don't often make it past about 14-15th level, so I wanted to see what else was out there.

Sweet! Thanks! I'll check those out.

I knew I could rely on you guys. <3
