Lantern Lodge 1/5

Woe, woe to the GM whose tables refuse to show! 3 events in a row have failed to happen because not enough players have showen up! Three adventures that I was greatly looking forward to running, that I had carefully prepared for, that I had enough people promise to show up to, that have all failed to appear at the appointed hour, or even called in advance to say, "oops can't come"! GRRRR, I find myself both saddened and annoyed at this turn of events. I realize real life happens but it would be nice to have some warning so that I can plan accordingly. The upshot is that I have not hired a babysitter each of those times and so didn't have to pay for one or feel like a loser for canceling.

Lantern Lodge 1/5

I have now judged PFS tables three times and each time there has been at least one point during the session that has been a great moment for the players.

1. and 2. In Service to Lore

Spoiler:
Ambush fight: each time half or more of the table is down on the ground unconscious or dying while half or more of the bad guys are still living, the casters and ranged who are left come through with a couple of well timed crits and just barely save the party.

3. and my personal favorite so far comes from: To Delve the Dungeon Deep

Spoiler:
In the fight with the Skulk Illusionist, the skulk hides against the wall, the caster sends a magic missile in the area the skulk is expected to be, hits for a few damage. Next turn the ranger shoots at the now reveled skulk hitting right through the head right between the eyes with a confirmed crit for triple damage of 21 points, leaving it to fall to the floor to bleed out.

Anyone else have any great table moments where the party prevailed or didn't at a critical point?

Lantern Lodge 1/5

So I have now run a table twice. Once was in a different world and now once First Steps: In Service to Lore. And I have a couple of questions.

1. I have one PC, a halfling, using a pony and cart to avoid encumbrance issues.
a)This isn't a problem is it?
b)How many tricks can this pony be taught?
c)Can the party ranger be the one to teach this pony said number of tricks? (Using handle animal, of course) =)
d)What tricks does this pony come "pre-programed" with?

2. In the section for delving the Salhar ancestral vaults, the player hand out,

Spoiler:
Specifically says, "You will receive an official charter and detailed maps." However, I can't find anywhere else that mentions this "Official charter." Is it supposed to be in with the map or handed to them before entering the vault?

TIA =)

Lantern Lodge 1/5

Hello, I'm new to this and I'm confused about getting credit for scenarios. Here is my understanding after I get past levels 1 and 2, I can only run a scenario once ever to get a chronicle sheet and then GM it once for a GM sheet, after that character #2 or greater can't run that scenario. Is this correct? If so, why? Doesn't that seem to shaft GM's who don't get to play often? or limit the re-usability of materials purchased? Thank you =)

I get the basics of PFS but one thing that really confuses me is that the "We Be Goblins" scenario is a sanctioned module (at least when you are purchasing it, it says it is) but it is for goblin characters. PFS information, FAQ, and the additional resources all seem to say that goblins can't be played in PFS games. How do these two opposite things square? Am I just reading something wrong? TIA =)
