Xarina is a mercenary. Her parents were killed during a riot. So she was sent to an orphanage in Magnimar. It was crowded, understaffed, and stifling. When she was old enough she was sent to the warehouse to "earn her keep" she was told. Even the slightest mistake was punished harshly. The labor was hard but eventually began to keep up with the tasks at hand. Once she was able to handle the work she began to notice things around her. The merchants that came and went. The guards that patrolled. The ships that would dock with all manner of items and food stuffs. She often stayed at the warehouse in a small room that was assigned to her. It got her out of that horrible orphanage at any rate.
Xarina kept her anger in check. The last time she lashed out she was beaten badly for it. Took her three weeks before she was able to work again. Although her anger was never far from the surface she learned to use it, to channel her rage at those who worked her like a slave and those who associated with them. She longed for the day when she would be able to make a difference, and to choose her own path. By now she was assigned to guard the place while the others worked. She was larger than many of the others and was chosen because of this. She often worked late when shipments would show up at night.
It was on one such late night that a shipment arrived quietly with no announcement. As the others worked they accidentally dropped a crate. With dawning realization, she realized that it was smuggled goods. The supervisor yelled for the guards. They arrived in less than a minute. She was accused of being in league with those who were bringing the contraband and had the guards take her into custody.
She was stripped of everything and questioned for days. Food was given only when they needed to keep her alive. Finally, convinced that she wasn't behind the shipments, she was released. They took almost all her gold and left her with just the clothes on her back.
She decided to look for work. She started by helping out at the tavern. One night, as she was clearing tables she overheard a group of guards who were intoxicated talking about that night she was imprisoned. They were laughing about how she had been sent to the warehouse to work so the supervisor could find out who was bringing in the contraband. They knew that she never was complicit in any of it.
Was that all she was good for? Bait? Just a thing to be used and then tossed aside? She would find out who had set her up. And when she did they would pay. They would most definitely pay.
Xarina stands an imposing 6'5". She has long black hair (to the middle of her shoulder blades) in a pony tail), her skin is a dark greyish tone and she has intense silver eyes. She has a heavier brow and somewhat longer tusks than are common to other half-orcs. She is powerfully built and well muscled. She wears a black wide brimmed hat, with leather armor. Draped around her shoulders is a full length cloak. She wears knee high boots. On her back is a greataxe with a scimitar on her left hip and a dagger on the right. She is usually seen smoking a cigarette from tobacco that she carries in a pouch.
