Cover trumps AoO
DM trumps Player

DM XPenalizes player for arguing and ruining everyone else fun...

Which is why I make no choice, I do not rule out the possibility of a God, or gods, or of even if Intelligent Design...I do believe that Evolution has merit and I believe that time definitely go back beyond 6000BC, I can see the bones in the fossil record, thus I see dinosaurs...

I however don't like engaging in discussions with fanatical people...

Fanatacism is bad...

Now you got my attention. Are there any references, I am curious about this.

Wiki and it has lots of article references, so it should be fairly accurate

Inability to navigate via the magnetite in people who have no idea what they're doing is exactly what I was talking about with modern man losing his connection to the primal...why is it the aborigine can divine water without a divining rod in the outback?

If you don't use your eyes what happens to them? look at blind cave creatures... If you lie in bed in a coma for 3 years your muscles atrophy...

Some people have excellent sense of direction...is that why?

it's gone downhill since they introduced wrestling to the line-up...over SG-1 and SG-Atlantis...lame!

Wrestling is make believe, but not really science fiction, true it's fiction, and the follow the rules of physics to not get hurt...but c'mon you can't hit a guy with your fist in the face 16 times and not open the skin...boxers open each others faces up and they wear huge gloves...

The DM running the game is the official...remember the DM is the rules lawyer in the game, NOT rules lawyers and NOT a player trying to weasel out of meta game effects. Your players have to understand you are the interpreter, you can change any rule you want in the game. think magic missiles got shorted in 2e when they set the max # to 5? change it back.

It's your game, the rules are the framework.

I agree with you 8th Dwarf. Non-native species destroy the ecology of the areas they invade...especially those with no natural predators.

I would eat 'roo. I don't eat cow anyway, they're a plague, they produced massive amounts of methane, and cattle farmers only care about the bottom line, push out the native animals and flora so there can be more grazing area for the cows. I'll take Bison thanks, now that they've recovered enough.

HAHA! I think I mentioned the exact same thing a few months ago...it's SyFyLis, because it's less SciFi...more moronic wrestling...

I used to have a "sixth sense" that told me when to move my head, because I was about to get hit from behind. Then one day I realized that I was feeling the movement of air currents with the hairs on the back of my head. I was mildly bummed that I wasn't actually psychic, but overall just glad that it worked.

Too many other similar examples have made me stop looking for magic as an explanation for things, and start looking for it a lot more in my appreciation of those things instead.

Beyond that, there's that weak magnetic field that surrounds you...and when other things fields interact with yours, you can definitely feel it...I'm pretty sure not all those times you had that sense, it was the wind current...

(we're 75% water, water create fields as it moves, and our body is constantly moving a water based substance (with iron in it) around our body, in circles...)

Mmm... yeah, nazi germany was religious. The majority of germans involved in the war, bringing hitler to power and with membership of the nazi power where christians.

Gott mit uns, or god with us, was the slogan of the german army during the war.

Nazi ideology was inherantly religious and supernaturalist, including many elements of christianity.

Gimme a stick, I'll divine water unerringly. So will you. Then again, I have an unfair advantage -- as a hydrogeologist, I'm "hip" to the fact that if there's water here, there's more than likely water 10 ft. away as well... and that if I dig deep enough anywhere, I'll pretty much ALWAYS hit water eventually. It's no surprise that many stage magicians are some of the most hard-core skeptics in the world -- they know too many tricks to believe in them.

Anyway, I've always felt that "open mindedness" requires more than a bit of skepticism to work best, or it quickly becomes close-mindedness instead. "The sun is pulled by a chariot across the sky -- I'm open-minded enough to accept that as a possibility!" That's fine at first, but when someone shows you footage from the space shuttle of the Earth rotating, do you cling to your "open-minded" chariot explanation, and reject the Earth's rotation because it's "close-minded"?

Hah! great example!

I agree, a certain amount of skepticism is needed for an open mind...or more precisely "discernment."

Aborigines don't use a stick. they just walk and stop and say, "here"...I suspect they use that tiny piece of magnetite in their head to detect the EMF field of the water (or something to that effect) That was the point I was making, that with all our tools, we lose access to sense we don't use...

That's too bad you feel that way.

Me, I feel exactly the opposite. Class creep is to be welcomed with open arms (and closed armored mouths). Embrace it! Revel in it!

You know what's really cool?

If there is class creep then *everybody* wins! I win, because I like having all those extra options. You win, because you just don't need to use it or buy it - no money spent, no extra classes. We all win!.

But if you get your way, and Paizo (and all the 3PPs out there) refuses to allow any class creep, then only you win.

Wouldn't it be nicer if everybody wins?

I don't want class creep...

I want class options, sans creep...

I would rather see it in the form of ability substitutions personally.

Rangers/Barbarians and Paladins could all be done as class ability substitutions of fighters.

Druid could be a substitution of Cleric.

Wizard and Sorcerer...well they use the same spell lists...the major differences, bloodline and how they use the same spells. Sorcerer should have just been a substitution. of wizard, and also they should be able to cast their spells at the same time as wizards anyway...

Personally I'm all about letting everyone find their own path...

I try to take in as much knowledge as possible, and I don't throw out information or ideals right away. I saw a Kung Fu master "pop" water on a concrete surface with a palm strike from 3 feet away. Just because I have seen it, doesn't mean I expect anyone else to believe in what I believe in.

I like to make people think...I always dole on information, then I tell people "don't believe me...find out for yourself...look it up"

I do that with my children also.

I am studying Alchemy right now, do I expect others to understand it or believe in it? no. Do I believe it out of hand, definitely not...do I try to interpret the symbols? yes, as the symbols are the key, not to transmuting lead into gold...but to higher levels of thought.

A lot of people believe in the same force...they just call it different things. I kind of see "prayer" "positive thought" "magic" etc as all just altering reality through the conscious...

"Outrageous claims require excessive proof." a belief of science.

Until everything is explained beyond theory, I can't let science completely destroy my open mind. Science has given us a great many inventions, but at what cost? Supposedly, Aborigines in Australia can naturally divine where water is... I haven't seen this with my own eyes, but I have seen it on TV...truth? Actualy, I'd have to side with her on this. You have the right to defend your own beliefs or the lack of them. The moment you used the Roberts quote, you stepped over the line and became no better than she was.

It works like a bank account. You can save up experience points without buying anything, but once you spend them, they're out of the account.

"onesickgnome' wrote:

Could you still Cap XPs earned per Level?

I suppose so, but eventually, it becomes disadvantageous to buy new levels; not only is it cheaper to buy feats and skill ranks, but buying a level makes everything else more expensive. The intent is that after 6th Level or so, players will only buy feats, and maybe skill ranks.

Capping experience earned per level is a push to get people to buy levels, so they can start earning experience again. But I'm fine with a PC reaching 6th Level and never buying a new level again.

it's legend points for D&D...(a la Earthdawn)

I've toyed with the idea, but D&D wasn't built for that type of purchase, when you have to purchase all your skills, spellcasting, etc...at each level certain classes get far more than others...
