Easy fix,
melee fast progression
full casters slow progression...
Then it will be like the old days.

Wizard already have enough of a weakness without moisture, and dunking in a pond.
(now ying/yang here): if a wizard goes diving underwater for more than 30 minutes then yes, there spell books are fair game, for being exploited, unless the wizard takes measures to protect vs water ((like bags of holding, water prof bags, Spell Bag ... aka Large wine skin made to hold a spell book.... which i would assume all wizard would have been give with the spell book.
Also, with the cost of inks, i would also assume a wizard would then lamination the page with bee wax ((Wax paper been around ages before plastic)). Like i said before more than 30 minutes of water at a time, and books fair game, but short term water damage can be prevented with some good old fashion bee's wax.
SO between bee's wax lamination & Wine skin.. Spell bags. Water should not be a problem.... plus then add Magic Protection and YAAAAAAA.
.
Now Fire on the other hand is a wizard greatest Fear :) ... and power:)
Strange how that works out.

3 Questions:
1. By large scorpions do you mean they are size large or just larger than your average scorpions, which are size tiny?
2. Is there time to drink a potion of prot from evil before combat starts?
3. And how many are there exactly?
1.it means I'm at work, I remembered there were scorpions in the room, and I wanted to keep the game moving...they aren't tiny, that's for sure. I don't think. 2. yes. 3. See answer 1 above.
Balance is important. Fun being the main case. And remember, classes are not for PLAYER characters alone, they are also for Non-player characters, do you want your group of Fighter, Cleric, Rogue, Wizard to go up against 4 Druids if they are not balanced to your characters? They're worth the same XP as 4 of any other class...so they should be balanced...

I think the problem with a full-blown sage base class is that it just doesn't offer enough to be viable. Plus, you can make plenty of other classes (bard, rogue, wizard, oracle of knowledge; expert for NPCs) do that job (and they have other skills as well). I'd think that a mechanic that specializes in say "find weakness" or some such thing can be REALLY useful for them.
In fact, if such a class had something along the lines of say "rage powers" menu's to fuel just *how* they apply their knowledge, it would be very, very nice!
Maybe it even has less spell power or something overall, but can grant something akin to a "Knowledge bonus" to be added into the mix of the likes of "moral" bonus and such for allies, or lower enemy saves, or DC's, or SR, or ... etc. All of it fueled because of what they "know" would be really, REALLY cool!. Look at the Archivist Bard archetype...bard performance works almost exactly like that.

Definately no need for another class.

Archetypes swap out class abilities. So if you wanted to make a fighter based unarmed fighter, strip the class abilities and rework the class abilities completely. Call it a Major Archetype.

Savage Suzerain is a good one for rotating GMs. Since characters can be pulled away by the gods for side missions at any time.

I am always busy but I feel a responsibility to my GMing duties and haven't let my games die due to me. two of my games have been running for over a year.
Looks like this system will need some major revisions or no one will use it.
I prefer point buy, because I can tell people to make characters using 20 pt buy and they have them ready when they arrive at my house to play, though, that does kill the character creation process for a more dynamic group...
meh, it's all relative...

As a standard action, you can make a single attack at your full base attack bonus against a foe within reach. If you hit, you deal damage normally and can make an additional attack (using your full base attack bonus) against a foe that is adjacent to the first and also within reach. You can only make one additional attack per round with this feat. When you use this feat, you take a –2 penalty to your Armor Class until your next turn.

This is the realm my ghostfire torch suffered from last year.
by the actual pricing it was spot on, but due to it's rule-bending effect it should have cost more.
In a nut-shell you lit the torch, it had a 10 minute duration, and removed the intangible aspect of incorporeal undead. The cost was 900 or 1800gp and it didn't make it through because of the rule bending it created conflicted with the costing.

Hmmm Blurg the Barbarian you have 15 pt buy
Gimp the Gimpy Rogue you have 25 pt
Or have the for SAD classes they get 15 pt buy
2-3 AD get 20 pt and
Super MAD characters get 25 pt buy
I guess if a DM wanted to track weight but didn't want to worry about it too much he could always institute a house rule saying Weight is tracked at STR+2 So that 8 STR wizard would have a 10STR for carrying purposes.
Or you could just throw out the 8# of clothing rule...that's a LOT of weight.
Now I can say carrying 150+# of extra gear is heavy...when I was in the navy I would take 12 tie-down chains at once to go tie down the jets for the week-end. I was working out all the time, and I doubt many other people in the line-shack could have done that much weight. That was about 200# (18#/chain I think). I could not even have run with that weight on me.

One Nasty thing to watch for in High level play is the lack of actions for BBEGs.
Often a pair of lower CR BBEGs is a better challenge than even a single BBEG, because it only gets ONE set of actions to the players 4 or more. At a minimum make a Lieutenant that CAN'T be ignored while the party takes down the BBEG, A cleric spamming heals and buffs on the BBEG is a huge pain.
I made a nasty aberration that had a dual mind, so it had two sets of actions, it was a deep old one style monster.

Teleport is a tool, if you even try to mitigate it at high level you are doing something wrong.
Same for dominate, energy drain, and disintegrate.
StabbittyDoom wrote: you could have every single BBEG past level 15 have continuous dimensional anchor, death ward, non-detection, freedom of movement It isn't like you have to have every BBEG have counters to these, but you must consider that every BBEG would be concerned with these that he is particularly vulnerable.
Most BBEG are not a single BBEG. You are more likely to (as a BBEG) to send minions (many of them at once) against the PCs. And by minions, I mean encounters of 4 to 6 monsters that are a challenge to the PCs regardless of their CR to PC average level ratio. Lots of little monsters...use a swarm template. FAster and more effective than say 6 10th level kobolds or 10 6th level kobolds...
Then a Massive Swarm of kobolds attacking is dangerous rather than tedious...
The game tends to BOG DOWN at upper levels, so many feats, spells magic items, class abilities, that everything drags, from GM design time to encounter duration. Where an encounter at 2nd level might take 15-30 minutes, it might take 2-3 hours to complete at 15th level.
The lucky dog you still have your Warduke action figure, all I have left is my Troll.
BIG DICE, I call them JonDice...guess the name of the cheater...
Barring that, put hero points in the game, if other players call him out for cheating, they're heroes, extra hero point...
For saves, institute a 4e style attack roll versus their saves...lame but effective.
1. The Mana Wastes begin to spread, but more randomly, leaving magic dead and wild magic areas, firearms become slightly more prevalent as a back-up when in magic weird areas.
2. The meteor hits from Darkness...ba..da..boom, beeg beeg bada boom...
3. Zombie 'Pocalypse: Urgathoa kills Pharasma. Zombies run many towns are destroyed. Pockets of civilization exist, divine magic is highly sought after. Trade is stunted due to the danger in traveling.
4. Magic Death: The natural magic ley lines of Golarion fail, access to spells is much more difficult, 6-9th level spells are gone, spell magic is wild, controlling the forces of magic requires a Spellcraft roll, failure can cause damage to self, random effects, or instantaneous death. Spell advancement is every other level, so a 20th level wizard would have the spells of a 10th level wizard in a normal campaign. This makes a lower magic campaign, again, guns become more prevalent.

I would allow it, as it is using a resource to counter a resource in an intelligent manner. Besides it's a 6th level spell being used to counter a 3rd level spell.

Much as I'd love to help Beta test the game, I can't in good conscience spend $29.99 on the PDF of a Beta. I know Paizo set a new standard with they offered the PDF Beta for free, and the Print copy for $25. I know it takes a LOT of work to produce a great book, and I'm sure this beta is close to being complete, just needs more playtesters. I have trouble spending $30 on a PDF to begin with, $10 sure, $15 maybe, $20+ not likely, $30 not gonna happen...
Please note I'm not slamming you for trying to make money, I'm just saying I won't. I did download the preview and the art so far looks AMAZING! Perhaps when the book is in print I'll buy the real book, but I can't beta test for you.
I just noticed the auto update to final version...nice touch, will it be available in print ever?
I have a Half-orc that killed her own mother and was enslaved by her father. She's an Oracle of Rovagug.
My CotCT character was one of lamm's lambs, who fell in love with another, but when she escaped Lamm killed her love... She's now an inquisitor of Iomedae...
I made a character that hated his father because he was a drunkard that sometimes beat his mother.

Despite the success of both Star Trek and Star Wars, Science Fiction never quite had anything equivalent.
So, you are absolutely right. It is very hard to pull off a "Generic Science Fiction" game. (d20 Future was a good try though.) Something more akin to Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon or, Simon R. Green's Deathstalker would be pretty generic pulp sword and raygun Sci-fi.
I like how Deathstalker Rayguns had a long recharge time, they were brutal, but it required swordsman skill as well.

Our DM developed a metropolis called the Kingdom of Light; to everyone's surprise he only really developed an inn and castle. After our characters (started at level 12+) picked out their appropriate gear, the DM suddenly had us traveling into the northern mountains; no quick urban brawls, no chatting up the locals. The whole thing felt like we started up NWN1 and could only talk to people in the temple.
The second coffin nail involved our characters being suddenly captured after my character (human sor, necro focused) successfully wrecked the four groups of trolls that were intended as ambush encounters. At this time, I'd like to thank Necrotic Skull Bomb for its stellar performance.
Once everyone came to, we realized we were in seperate holding cells. I make a spellcraft check (was around upper 30s), no crazy auras; Detect Magic, no nonsensical dimensional lockdowns. Sounds easy for a lvl 12 sor with Dimensional Door right? Doesn't function. No reason was offered, just doesn't function. Fine, I think, I'll see where this is going. Once our rogue gets us out, we stumble into an arena holding a barely-chained adult white dragon. The DM allowed his friend to play some Stormborn race with cold-resistance (barbarian) so the dragon wasn't the threat it could be. Some mages and a major villain were stationed off to the side on an upper-level walkway. I position myself to dimensionally jump onto the walkway (spellcraft check again, same results) and cast the spell. I was teleported back to the jail cell. No explanations, nothing. My character was jailed while the DM's buddy and his girlfriend enjoy the melee. Then I was denied exp for not participating in the battle.
I should have left then. During the session. I decided to give it another go. Several quests later, we were facing off against an orc army marching down a forest path. I decided to split the forces with a prismatic wall. With half their forces gone...
