Food for thought. WizKids and Paizo just released a box set of miniatures called Gods of Lost Omens. The figures include Gorum, Desna, Abadar, Calistria, Sarenrae & Shelyn. It would seem off for it to be one of those eliminated. Hmmmmm...
Back to the OP's question. Am currently playing a Summoner with a creepy looking Plant Eidolon (level 3 currently) in SoT. RP and flavor is off the charts. Mechanics are meh at best. My biggest beef so far is the 3 action manifest. From an RP standpoint it just seems off to have this creepy Plant walking beside so it is never out at the beginning of most encounters (probably not many dungeon crawls to be faced where it would be out). So most encounters I don't bring out the Eidolon since it's an entire turn and sometimes I need to move on turn 1 so that's blown too. I, in effect, become an extremely poor Sorc with limited spell slots. If I do bring it out, the turn routine is very samey. So overall opinion is great RP, poor in encounters.
(note I rarely post so don't know how to do the quote stuff) So I'd like to add my two cents from a forever player point of view. I have played numerous low to high level campaigns beginning with the playtest and since (almost always martials), so this is from personal experience. Mine, yes, but still from actual play. I subscribe to the OP view of enjoying those heroic moments, but still enjoy the team tactics. I have found there are plenty of opportunities for player driven heroic narrative. But it really depends on a couple of things: 1) DM - if the DM is only giving encounters with +2 and +3 level bosses, then not so much cuz even the fighter's high to hit fails a bunch and almost never crits. (talk to your DM about varying the encounters) 2) DM - if all encounters are played in 2D vs 3D it limits a number of cool feats and abilities that allow a creative player to create a wow moments. (talk to your DM about terrain and 3D) 3) Player - your character needs to be built for it. You can build boring but optimally effective (please don't read into this - ONLY being optimal is not fun for ME). Or you can build effective AND for heroic moments. NOT EVERYTHING has to be MOST optimal. I build all my characters to be good for the team, but selfishly for enjoyment I want to have the ability to do the heroic strike or wow moment (I build for 3 or 4 different ones and then 3-4 xday there's something cool to pull out). I'll expand on #3 cuz that's in my control. I found two things really help with that.
The above aren't the only things, just examples. So there are ways to bring the cinematic cool heroic things, just gotta build and play for it. Anyways, like I said I don't usually post so maybe this was helpful or maybe just gibberish. Just my two cents worth. For what that's worth.
If you want to play a SB then do. If you don't like it, then don't play one. Why do you need somebody to "convince" you?
Anyway, remember that it gives you power ( it's a reflex roll hidden by the DM screen, so you could deal with it if you want them to experience a more exciting fight, or similar ). So are you saying that DMs can/do fudge saving throws behind the DM screen?
In looking at suggested builds for a Cleric Warpriest or martial multiclassing with Cleric, many of the forum suggestions include taking the feat Emblazon Armament. If I'm reading it right it adds 1 point of damage to your attack. Am I reading it right? Isn't that a big investment for 1 point of damage. Maybe I'm confused in the feat or the game mechanics for thinking that 1 point isn't much. Please help me understand why this is a good use of a class feat. Thank you in advance.

I had to manually pull it out. I think it may have inadvertently cancelled one of my orders also, while doing that. Noey goody. These were placed well before upcoming subscriptions and I care more about these getting to me on time (not happening unless can be shipped in the past) than I do my subscription. I also agree, finally a good unicorn - no gumball colors or MLP lookalikes. I love, love, love the 3 dressing pieces. Especially love the cage, totally useful in so many ways. The Gate is also beautiful. As far as mix and the way they are put into the sets, I am totally ok with it. For every person who wants 6, there is somebody who wants none. I am ok trading or using the secondary market to fill quantities. "Trying" a separate sale box of something, whether dressing or other, is risky and expensive and can doom a line if it doesn't sell well (I don't want that). Keep up the good work, Erik!! I have to say that I like the majority of this set. Lirianne, excluded. Unlike some, I like the idea of the Iconic Hero sets and see a great use for the figures. What I don't need are second figures of miniatures released in the main waves (i.e Balazar, Harsk, Seoni, etc). Two of each really doesn't provide much purpose. I personally think some these figures should be exclusive to the Iconic Hero sets, leaving more slots in the main waves for other villains, monsters or NPCs. I also think this would increase the overall sales of the sets, potentially keeping a longer printing and release schedule of these sets. As far as the promos, Red Dracolisk is nice. And I too am rooting for the Albino Wererat to make a creepy and awesome appearance.

Very much like all three, especially like the Dancing Girl and the Ghoul Cultist (perfect as a common). I too am hoping the size of these Ghouls is in proportion to previous Ghouls. As far as the promo piece, I am warming up to the idea of the bar. My guess is the dressing will be the Inn accessories and furniture. I will be most curious if the bar will be in size proportion to the human miniatures. Erik, might there be a chance to get a picture of the bar next to some miniatures, or at least know if this is the case?
