Seeing so much energy to go down the hole, Wren declines to get wet and/or dirty and instead volunteers to stay up top with Shorga and keep watch.

"Remember when you used to talk, Shorga? You forgot how, huh, dearie? You've lost your wits on this island. Poor dearie. We'll get you fixed up soon enough."

18 hours and no other volunteers? Sheesh.

Wren will bring the rope up and knot it. She will take 10 to climb down the knotted rope.

"Oh dearie, it looks dangerous down there. Did you want light as you go?" Wren asks with concern.

She picks up a rock, casts Light, and tosses it down the hole.

How far down does it go? And shouldn't we just knot the rope to make it an easy climb check for whomever? (DC5)

Wren climbs out of the hole, not wanting to fall through to anything.

"Should we chop through? I have my dagger..." Wren holds up her claw-like dagger that would be utterly useless for the task.

"Maybe we could burn through it? Or I could research a spell to summon 1000s of woodpeckers to beak through it? Yes, that would be keen too."

Wren looks at Shorga to see if he has a solution.

Wren begins to dig, first using her feet, kicking dirt backwards like a chicken scratching for worms.

"If we're going to finish this, we had better get started."

Wren jots down the names of the ships and their general location (along with the others they've discovered) in her notes, using a long feather pen. She coos happily as she does such.

"Travis, dearie, what did you say the name of that last one was?" Wren records it as cleanly as she can. "Finding them like this is so much nicer than dropping into them, isn't it? Now, the question that comes to mind is how come there are so many crashed boats here? And if we can assume that there will be some survivors from each wreck, does it not stand to reason that they might still be someplace on this island? Where have they gone, Travis? Hmm?!"

Wren looks expectantly at Travis for an answer...whether idle speculation or reasoned hypothesis.

In general, Wren is in good spirits as she explores the island, happy to be around such lush greenery and wildlife, especially the birds. Among them, she is home.

When the party reaches the area of the treasure map, Wren smiles and coos excitedly, petting and talking to Shilyn.

"Ooh! Shilyn, this is exciting isn't it? It reminds me when...blahblahblah...two cannibals...blahblahblah...something tastes funny..blahblahblah...atop the hill overlooking the nudist..blahblahblah...and two of the largest balls..blahblahblah...twine and fur..blahblahblah...and so, we had to leave quickly."

"Can someone explain that? How did that thing find us?" Wren flutters.

Wren coos excitedly at Travis's find, cawing and clapping with delight.

When Travis is finished showing the items around, she asks to see the locket and dagger, for her raven-esqu curiosity is too much for her to wait much longer.

She casts Detect Magic while waving a feather over the items, examining the auras (if any on the locket).

When she finishes absorbing and learning the magic, he hands off the items for others to examine and discuss.

"So...you say that those would help Jask, Travis? That is excellent news!," Wren says, removing her backpack and taking out her waterproof bag. "You should put them in here so they will be safe." Wren opens the bag for Travis.

Finding little else of interest, Wren is happy to move on.

With Shorga and Alfonse's help, Wren is able to struggle over to the boat (but just barely). Take 10 + 2(aid) = 11.

"Thank you to both of you! Falling into the water does *so* much damage to my feathers! I'm not yet a seabird," Wren chirps.

Wren looks over at the wreck, wondering how best to get aboard.

Is there a path to it? Some climb or swim checks?

'We should go check that out. I got these wonderful feathers from an old ship just like that," Wren says, showing off her newly added feathers to her 'armor'.

Wren begins to chitter as she thinks about the ship.

"I remember this one time when I was camping with my friends, and WHHOOP! we just fell through the floor into the ship! There were some nasty little skeletons down there, I recall."

Wren screams when she wakes to Osm's body in the camp.

"Why is that here!? Who would do such a thing!? Wren screeches, her hands clenching her dagger.

When nothing shows itself, she will calm herself. Again, she will seek sanctuary with Plume.

"He was a good egg. A bird too beautiful for his feathers. That's probably why he was taken. We should be careful, Plumie. We are likely next for we are so colorful and pretty."

Wren will help bury the body.

Yar, they're still on there in black. Though if someone else has a better course than "Explore EVERY hex!" they can feel free to modify.

Since Wren likes this little island still, she's happy to explore everything.

And seeing as we're looking for ships as well, makes sense to explore each one for them. Apparently, we'll eventually fall into all of them.

Wren looks around, disgruntled.

"Where did he go!?"

Wren paces back and forth, occasionally scratching into the ground/sand, looking to dig up some treasure that would point to the gnome's location.

"SQUAWK!!!" Wren yells, hoping Ozm would find his way back to the home nest.

Finally, Wren gives up, looking at Alfonse in despair.

"Alfonse, it is so sad when chicks leave the nest too soon." Wren looks for a shoulder to cry upon, eventually settling on Shilyn's.

"Oh halfbreed, I'll miss him so...he was a good egg."

Wren, though sad, is ready to move on...pressing forth with the exploration of the island.

Wren spends her time at watch perusing her big book of feathers, still unlocking more mysteries. Tonight is different than most nights. Whereas most nights entail rote memorization and careful alignment of the right feather to unlock the right effect, tonight Wren's mind clicks in a different way and she makes discoveries on her own.

From the loud cawcaws of delight, everyone can tell that Wren is quite pleased with herself.

Wren looks to share her discovery with her gnome friend but finds him missing.

"Alfonse? Shilyn? Didn't we have a gnome with us? A colorful one? Or was that an orange goat that was with us for a while?" Wren asks with worry.

Let me know if you want to set up a more permanent camp, and when you want to spend time to do that. If you want to continue on, you will be able to continue to the rest of your pathway with no disturbances, so I'll want a new plot point.

Wren thinks (but could be wrong) that the party is looking for a permanent water source for a more permanent camp.

Of course, our water problems might be solved if someone is dipping divine or can see if any of our other castaways can Create Water.

I'll look at the hex map tonight afterI level up...I hope someone takes the initiative to plot the next course before I do.

1: I don't feel like you're rushing at all. In my experience, we've had some slow periods and some fast periods. We've had some initial drops and it takes some time to adjust to schedules. We will adapt. :)

Wren looks on as Travis negotiates the nettles, trying to help out as she can. More than once she tries to point out a spiky or a pointy before it gets Travis...probably causing a few others to find his way into his skin.

Still, she is trying.

Later at the camp, Wren will try again to engage Jask in discussion about this magic or that magic or Nethys. Mostly she babbles, but sometimes she does listen to what he has to offer.

Wren claps happily along with Aerys's song, happy to have good music to listen to...she imagines the song to that of her bird friends, a clever cacophony for her ears only.

She looks over at Alphonse' new hat and remembers she has a new cloak to examine and fix up.

She spends much of the night preening over it, quite content.

Wren wrings her hands as they explore the campsite, worried for what it might mean. Her mind works many possibilities, seeking the best and most logical explanation.

Clearly, this was the work of evil orcs.
Wren, is there any other kind of orc?

Wren, seeing Alfonse's new hat, comes over with her cleaning feather, casting Prestidigitation. He cleans the hat thoroughly, giving no hint of the former owner. She adds a single green feather to the rim, her own gift.

"Isn't that just neat?" Wren watches the stone twirl around her head.

After a few minutes of watching, she turns to the party.

"Where are we going next?"

The wrong map is up in Rolld20. I would have plotted the next trip on the hexmap.

Wren lands with a thump, an unhappily yelp escaping her lips. Plume flutters down and lands gently nearby.
