For game purposes, Wren is pushing the action, but as a general rule please assume she is deferring to other to go first for the most part. It would be great if others would also help push things along.

Wren stands outside and listens. She looks at the rest of the party and wonders if Eldon is going to attempt another intimidation or there will be another process introduced here.

Wren just shakes her head. "No the betwitchments of the necromancers are not my area of expertise. My feathery is better suited towards other factors, like seeing the patterns of nature and how they affect time and space."

Wren will claim the Pearl of Power off the curate (unless anyone objects) as she likes shiny things...and shiny magical things are even better.

Wren ponders the town more, thinking about what she's seen with her eyes and what Kawrock had reported.

"I think we should go south, towards that tavern that was mentioned, then slip into the apothecary. That might be best," Wren suggests already moving towards the door.

Wren fluffs her feathers angrily, still annoyed that *some* people ignore her might feathered works of magic. She saunters by the be-tripped Arval and into the room to try to figure out why the priestess was there and if she had any interesting magics upon her.

Wren's ears swivel forward like an owl's, trying to hone in on the noise.

"You guys hear that? It's an awful racket, ain't? Sort of snarling? Reminds me of this one human I used to travel with...blahblahblah...had a sword, I think his name was 'Oval', like his head or something...blahblahblah...used to march all about, in front...blahblahblah...madly in love with me...blahblahblah...I had a hard time turning him down...blahblahblah...right near his backside...blahblahblah...first two fingers, then a third...blahblahblah...very hot, very heavy...blahblahblah...and that's how you make flumph stew."

Wren moves off to the side so others can enter first.

"Wow, Vladlena, that was quite the roiling mass of ugly there. Maybe you want to be sure to avoid us when you cast that in the future?" Wren clucks as she plucks the pearl.

"Shall we check out this farmstead? Maybe there will be a clue as to why they were here within?"

It's just that you've been waving that hammer around like you've never used it before, barely hitting half the time at best. Thought you might do better with this. Nevermind, forget I mentioned it."

Wren follows the others to the homestead.

Wren clucks her head until she notices the magic items on Wolfistan. She identifies them and offers the magic silver longsword to WhiskeyJack.

"This might work better than your silver nutcracker there," Wren offers, pointing at 'Jacks little silver hammer.

After the loot is cleared, she wonders where to go next.

"Duristan? Here? Why?" Wren mimics Vladlena, agreeing in surprise. "That isn't right at all? How did he learn of this place at all? Did we tell him? No...I don't think he was around when we spake on the Stairs. I think...hmm...I think that's interesting. He might be...Whispering Way? Hmm...."

Wren looks at the direction Duristan went.

"Seems to me that we should track and find Duristan. We should find out what he is doing here...and if he is working for the Way, then we shall get answers out of him," Wren suggests.

"Yep, right. Whiskeyjack is right," Wren squawks, holding her 'armor' of feathers tightly against her body as she examines the altar and the symbols there in. "And these match the symbols we found on the tree, too."

Wren keeps her eyes on the altar. "We should destroy this and I'd suggest burning the place down, but it might draw a lot of unwanted attention from those in town, don't you think?"

Wren sidles up next to Arval.

"Arval, might you want to smash this before we continue on?"

Wren will help dismantle the altar as well.

Wren stalks closer only after she is sure the tree is dead, keeping her eyes out for any still twitching vines. She helps collect identify the items of value (so that others can carry them) while murmuring to herself (and others).

"Why didn't Arval listen to me? I'm very smart, and could have warned him about the tree, but I don't think...blahblahblah...deep seated attraction...blahblahblah...unrequited love...blahblahblah...wants to fluff my dried prunes...blahblahblah...vines right up the...blahblahblah...and Arval really should listen to me more."

When others are healed, Wren is ready to move on.

Wren stares at the bodies and the tree from a safe distance. She rocks on her pidgeontoed feet as she considers.

"Oh dearie, that reminds of that one gentleman I used to know. He loved to be...blahblahblah...two hands, one gnome...blahblahblah...until he could see through time...blahblahblah...then became two cups, one gnome...blahblahblah...ended with all of us laughing. It was a nice time."

Wren stays far back.

"But I do wonder what could hang werewolves on trees? Must be something very strong and big, don't you think? I don't see any giants around? Maybe a titan or two?" Wren looks for castles in the clouds while she waits to see what others do.

After careful consideration, Wren declines to buy anything just yet. She considered buying a nice cloak of resistance and/or a lsr rod of extend, but figures hoping for a cloak and waiting to get a nicer headband might be a better use of her monies.

No, Wren is happy to hand off her wand of CLW (43/50). However, I still recommend at least 4 more. Why?

1) In general, we aren't and won't be as well armored/defended as most lvl 8/9 yahoos: we don't have the wealth to put towards armor bumps and whatnot (like belts of dex).
2) As mentioned above, we will be facing foes with the advanced templates: they hit harder and live longer.
3) We don't have a dedicated healer...and don't want to ask any yahoo to warp their character into doing more healing, and so we won't be seeing large bursts of healing.
4) We don't know when we'll be back in a town to buy things again.
5) We will eventually use them.

Though it doesn't affect Wren (she has a headband), the issue might be that we can't even buy a +2 stat item in town (given the 2k spending limit), let alone get a +2 on an armor or weapon. By level 8, it's nice to have access to that bump.

Also, can each of us put aside 500 gp to purchase 4 wands of CLW?

Base Value (2K) and Purchase Limit(10K):
This section lists the community's base value for available magic items in gp (see Table: Available Magic Items). There is a 75% chance that any item of this value or lower can be found for sale in the community with little effort. If an item is not available, a new check to determine if the item has become available can be made in 1 week. A settlement's purchase limit is the most money a shop in the settlement can spend to purchase any single item from the PCs. If the PCs wish to sell an item worth more than a settlement's purchase limit, they'll either need to settle for a lower price, travel to A larger city, or (with the GM's permission) search for a specific buyer in the city with deeper pockets.
