w00t! I was expecting questions, but this is better! I will never underestimate the power of an 80s montage again.

Wren shivers at the vision, but tries to drink in every detail. She seeks any clue that might help her unravel the mysteries of the future and of the Whispering Way.

Other than constantly chittering about the ritual to everyone as if they hadn't experienced it with her, she will be happy to take her turn at watch and rest the night in peace (she hopes).

In the morning, she'll be ready to move on.

After figuring out what is needed, Wren puts everyone to work, *especially Eldon*. She assigns WhiskeyJack and Arval to move and straighten, Kawrock to clean and fix areas up high, and Eldon to scrub and buff all the floors and any tight spaces. Lena is assigned to be Arval's broom.

Wren turns the remaining time into a cleaning montage.

To help you envision it, here's this. (link) Pretty much, Eldon & Lena = Egg and Clay Stork, Kawrock = George Calamari, W'Jack = AckAck (aka Booger), Arval = Hoops, and Wren = Cassandra (obv.)

When the work is done, Wren will set up people for the ritual.

Uh, UMD, huh? Anyone? GM Spiderbeard, is there any chance that Wren's actual magic skills and knowledge in both Arcana and Religion might be useful here?

Wren, sensing some agreement amongst the yahoos (or mostly in her own head hearing what she wants to hear), begins to review exactly what she'll need to do start/complete the ritual.

Wren looks around, examining life at the top of the stairs.

"Well, that was interesting. Now what about this ritual?" Wren asks, fluffing her feathers and recalling the notes that they found downstairs. "Do we want to enjoin the Dreamkeeper for some direction? What questions might you ask, think upon that."

Wren would prefer to do the ceremony, but doesn't need to. Seems kind of silly to come all this way and pass up the opportunity to talk to a higher plane, right?

"Oh yes, you can kill asshats like Duristan and other hunters and do us all a favor. But your pack needs to leave innocents alone. Those that are lost or happen into your lands by accident. If I find you are hurting them, we will come back and pluck out your feath...er, fur, hair by hair, do you hear me?" Wren confirms so that they may reach an understanding.

If Cybrisa will agree, Wren is content to let her go.

Wren was looking for guarantees that the w'wolves would leave human(oids) alone. If Cybrisa won't vow on it, then it might be proper to end her.

Wren flutters and watches the w'wolves retreat and only then does she make contact with the Stairs of the Moon. She listens to Cybrisa's explanation.

"Yes, Cybrisa, your Malthus has done some bad things with some bad birds. We wish to know what happened," Wren caws and shakes her wand at Cybrisa. "We have no quarrel with your pack or any other, but when they attack us, we defend ourselves...not to mention the malice that Malthus has brought about."

Wren looks to see if Arval is still around or if he has surrendered to his own lycanthropy. She imagines how that observation might go:

Wren: "Arval, do you know you're turning into a wolf?"
Arval: "Yes, I am a were."

Wren titters to herself at something very funny.

Wren glitterdusts the pair of w'wolves, not harming them, but wanting them to be glittery and pretty...so Arval can rip them apart if he chooses.

"Oh, this is Desna's temple, not yours. And would not want us submitting to you, " Wren chirps back.

Wren squawks as others prepare to go up the stairs to the top of the, uh, Stairs. When others are on their way up, Wren will use her still-active fly spell to go up the back side.

She draws her wand of magic missile. Moved Wren on map and ready to go.

Wren fluffs her feathers and looks around the carnage as others heal. Cast Detect Magic, look for things of interest.

While she looks about, she begins to chitter, putting together pieces of information into a narrative to help the party for the decision they are about to make. PM'd with GM Spiderbeard to get a story recap here, presented by Wren.

Wren begins to explain things.

"You see? You see these columns? This temple was built long ago to use the Dusk Moth to allow communion with the Song of Spheres, the emissary of Desna or even Desna herself. In the past, I believe that was what this temple was used for," Wren starts, looking to be sure others are listening.

"Now, you're probably wondering what this has to do with the Whispering Way, which, as you know is our *true* reason for being here. Well, let me explain..."

Wren fluffs her feathers and continues.

"We know from Estovion's notes that the Whispering Way conspired to make the new packlord, Mathus Mordinracht, when he slew the previous packlord. I believe it was Mathus' pack that was just assaulting the stairs, and we killed them below. I believe the ones we just slew were from a rival pack...another indication of the civil war happening between the packs."

Wren pauses and then continues.

"And the reason why Mathus isn't considered to be the packlord? He didn't eat the heart, maybe? We read in Estovion's journal that Mathus, for some reason, isn't considered to be the true packlord. Perhaps because Mathus didn't eat the heart of the previous packlord? I think they fight because Mathus did not eat it, as Estovion's journal suggests? So where is the heart? Who has it?"

Wren looks around as the final questions are very important.

"Estovion suggests that the Whispering Way had their hand in Mathus' dealings...and the heart is missing, maybe. Who has the heart? Does the Whispering Way have it? And why would they? WHY?"

Wren nearly shouts her question to the temple, as if Desna could answer it now. Wren takes a moment to calm herself.

"Now, as we rise to up the Stairs of the Moon, we should think about the ritual that we have. The way we can commune with Desna or her allies. We should think about what we would ask of them...or what they may ask of us. Or we can decide to forgo the ritual, but we have many questions...or, at least, I do. Squawk!"

Hopefully, I got most of this right. If not, I trust the GM to correct a bit.

Wren squawks and flaps to gain height so she might help with the combat. She spins her ring to cast a fireball into the back ranks of the w'wolves. Getting Kawrock too, but suspect he has some resistance.

Sorry for the delay in my posting, just waiting to hear back from the firebug Kawrock that it's okay to hit him with an AoO. Yes, I know there will be complaining and chirping and whatnot, but there are risks I'll take.

Wren hears some words with her keen owl's ears, and pieces of the past and present begin to take shape.

She hovers near WhiskeyJack muttering to herself.

"Oh, that makes sense now. That's good to know...well, we can't let them go on doing that you know, that isn't good at all. Reminds me of time...blahblahblah..." Wren's voice trails off into a misadventure involving two flumphs, one seductive xorn, and a gibbering mouther that managed to have every orifice filled by the the end of the night.

Wren waits for others to move and act before acting herself.

Wren looks at W'Jack and his suggestion to climb up the side of the building and agrees that that would be a good idea...for others. For herself, she announces that she'll fly up on her own and pointedly declines the magics that would give her the powers equivalent to spiders, aka bird food (and sometimes bird killers).

When others are wanded and ready to climb, Wren will cast fly and follow behind them.

Wren has no opinion on the amulet, destroying it or keeping it for later, it makes no difference to her. She would not object if others thought it would be better served as molten silver or as is.

She explains the magic items that are found.

She reads the Desna history note aloud so everything can hear her beautiful screeching voice. "Oh, those Desnans did all this? I don't want to believe that. They could have been researching something more glorious, like becoming a were-eagle, wouldn't that be nice?"

She pockets the scroll on the Ritual of the Dusk Moth.

What exactly does Wren think the Ritual do? Why would she/we want to complete it? What does it do for us or against the Whispering Way? (Sorry if this is repetitive, but I've lost some of the backstory/narrative on this.)

Wren eyes the grasping tentacles and wait for them to go away. Because she's seen the spellbook, she knows exactly what they were...and they were evil dark things.

Finally composed, she looks for a way...up?

Looking at the map, it's not clear there is a way up this. There are stairs around the backside?

"Oh, I bet Estovion was one of them baddie we seek. Another one of them," Wren says, assuming others will know what that means. "No, I think there were some guys shooting arrows at us?"

Wren slowly urges Arval to a way up.

Wren looks very bedraggled, feathers a-molt and singed, bloody streaks down her chicken legs, her face torn and sagging. 2/43 hp.

"That man tried to kill me! ME!? But I'm such a lovely person! Why would anyone want to kill me!?" Wren screeches in her pain, unused to the wounds and unsure how she still stands.
