Wren finishes preening her feathers, then moves on to preening Plume.
"We need to look nice now, Plumie. Now hold still, this won't hurt a bit," Wren begins to straighten and fluff different feathers, each according to their color and spot on the bird.
"I think the selection is soon. I do hope we are chosen. We need to help Stitches. Poor dear has me worried sick."
Wren finishes the preening and returns to the waiting patiently.
"Are you *sure* this is the right place, Plumie? This is the one, is it?" Wren asks of her fine feathered friend, Plume, a colorful parrot that rests on her shoulder. She, herself, is equally bedecked in feathers, a fine 'armor' of woven feathers. The feathers seems a mismash of colors and sizes, some taken from the same bird, yet others taken from strange and mysterious specimens from all across Golarion.
"If you're sure, Plumie, I'll make acquaintances," the old elven woman curtsies nicely in her 'armor'. She raises her voice to address the assembled heroes and villainy in this recruitment thread. She seems unsure as to exactly who to address her comments, but she finds her voice and makes her case.
"Greetings All. I am Wren the Feathermage. As you may have guessed, I'm a, well, a feathermage. One who harnesses the power of feathers to unlock powerful magics unto the world. And this is Plume, my best friend in the world." Wren smiles a yellow toothed smile at the assembled patronage before continuing.
"Until very very recently I was exploring this strange castle looking for my good friend, Stitches. Sadly, the world itself crumbled...and I found myself floating in the Aether until Plumie told me that I might find a way back into that castle here. Well, here I am...and I want to go back. I want to find my good friend, Stitches. Oh, I know he misses me so. But I don't know where he's gone." Wren smiles again.
"Well, I also miss my flock...my friends...the ones who were helping me find Stiches. Oh, I'd like to find a new flock, I would," Wren nods earnestly.
"Maybe it would be easier if I wrote this down for you. And let you know what I've done. That would be easier wouldn't it?" Wren pulls out a huge plumed pen and a piece of parchment from her pack and begins to write. After about 15 minutes, she offers the note to those who would read it.
Wren is a lvl 5 arcanist who has played through the first book and some of the second book before the PbP collapsed.
Wren is currently level 5 and can be adapted to fit the creation requirements.
We have gotten through a bit of the castle...about 2200 posts in.
As you can see from Book 1 and 2, Wren is an active poster who places a high value on roleplaying.
Some of Wren's greatest hits include:
Let me know if you have any questions. I know there is already a wizard, but as a roleplayer, that just makes things more interesting.
Round 3, Init 22
Wren will touch Mr. Hastur again with Diviner's Fortune. (Diviner's Fortune: +2 (9/day) (Sp) Creature touched gains +2 to attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1r. 6/9 used today.)
"Hit him hard dearie. Just do what I say," Wren smiles a toothy yellow grin.
Round 2, Init 22
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 Will Save vs. Squawkiness
Wren shakes of the growling and responds to a bit of her own bird babble, even while she steps closer to shoot again, this time aiming her Acid Arrow at the one she didn't hit last round.
1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 4 = 8 touch to hit (in combat, I think);
The first one takes 2d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7 additional acid damage this round.
Round 1, Init 22
Wren looks at the heads with revulsion.
How do they fly without noble wings?
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21 Knowledge: Religion
"Oh dearies! Watch their bites! They remind me of my feathered friends the cockatrices, they...blahblahblah..."stoned", which is different than this herb that I grow...blahblahblah...undead and fear! Just like a cold shower."
Wren draws her Wand of Acid Arrow and fires at the right head, anxious to get a blast off before people get in her way.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 touch to hit;

I think he need to call it with him.
And that I'm the only one that's posted since Saturday is disappointing.
I love playing with the players we have, but at the rate at which we're going it's just not tenable for me.
I'm for cutting and looking through some recruitment options. We got a top GM ready to go and we don't have player who can check once or twice a day? :(
Wren comes over and pushes Kevin aside and begins looking through the various boxes and chests, looking for birded or feathered specimens.
Who could throw away a perfectly good goblin snake? And a rat!? Rats are wonderful...food.
Wren goes to extract several of the eagle feather from the exhibit, taking a few from each wing and tail to supplement her armor.
Eventually, the awe wears off and she begins to chitter again.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Perception
When she is finished gathering feathers, she'll cast Detect Magic and look as well, more out of habit than anything else.
Wren has moved and is in position. Of course, nothing can possibly go wrong.
Wren enters a rare state: silence.
Wren enters with a combination of awe and horror. That someone would harm or stuff this many exhibits horrifies her, but the selection causes her endless interest.
She slowly examines each and every specimen, taking her time, and occasionally taking a feather or two for her armor.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 Know (Nature)
"Oh, you're right, Andrea...you must be so smart to agree with me!" Wren coos as she examines the ningyo. Wren spends a bit of time looking for feathers on the thing but eventually grows bored with it and goes to 'help' Mr. Hastur with the secret door.
"Yes, let's go upstairs. There might be a nice rookery or eagle's nest above...a perfect place for us to rest for the night! Surrounded by my bird friends!" Wren chitters excitedly at the thought.
Wren looks over the bottles, chittering to Andea to see what she knows. Wren will also cast Detect Magic as she goes.

Andrea: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 Knowledge: Nature
Did anyone take the Ring of the Ram? If not, Wren dons it for now.
Wren takes a moment or two to examine the bulette and the auromvorax in detail, checking body cavities and under carapaces for feathers, either latent or lost.
"Oh, an Auromvorax! Did you know that the 'vorax is a relative...blahblahblah...Mwangi butt sph...blahblahblah...and sometimes they nestle in your...blahblahblah...so it keeps you warm. And that's what...blahblahblah...Aunt Bette's real grilled milkcheese...blahblahblah...and I was full until flatulence," Wren nods very seriously.
When she finishes looking around, she'll follow Mr. Hastur/Aldous.
Wren enters the room, cooing.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25 Knowledge: Arcana
She is specifically looking for feathers to take and weave into her armor, especially if they might have arcane powers that need to be unlocked.
"What an interesting room, Mr. Hastur. Whatever did you find in here?"
Wren scoops up the ring to identify it and satisfy her raven-like interest in shiny objects.
"Well, this is interesting. Does anyone want to use this? It's an interesting item, it is. Reminds me of...blahblahblah...wand that shot acid...blahblahblah...so then I climbed up it's large pen-...blahblahblah...such a nice toy to have."
Wren offers the ring to whomever wants it.
Wren examines the mummy's body and tomb a bit longer, more questions coming to her birdlike brain.
"Why is this mummy here? Tis a strange thing, is it not? Why have one at all, let alone put in this cramped space. It's almost like a child built this place, stuffing weird abominations around the grounds for us to find. Hmpfh," Wren expresses her displeasure.
"Let us continue on, eh? Maybe this way?"
Sadly, Rolld20 doesn't seem to map on iPhone. Can someone get us to the next area to explore?
Round 4, Init 6
"That's good, Kevin. Keep on doing what I say," Wren repeats her action.
Wren will touch Kevin again with Diviner's Fortune. (Diviner's Fortune: +2 (9/day) (Sp) Creature touched gains +2 to attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1r. 2/9 used today.)
Round 3, Init 6
"Oh...we'll have to hit this hard, very hard. Much like we needed to hit the weird dog I fought this one time. Strange beast, it was...blahblahblah...seemed to like smelling butts."
Wren will touch Kevin again with Diviner's Fortune. (Diviner's Fortune: +2 (9/day) (Sp) Creature touched gains +2 to attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1r. 1/9 used today.)
"There you go Kevin, hit it hard like I said."

Round 2, Init 8
Plumie: "SQUAWK! SQUAWK!
Feeling slowly returns to Wren as she finds her will to babble yet again.
"Oh do keep it quiet, Plumie, my dear friends need to hear my voice. They *do* so love it when I talk. Now, what was I saying?" Wren pulls a loose feather from her mouth and places it back in her 'armor'.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19 Know (Religion) Mummies
"I think that's a mummy...let me see if I remember how to kill that...hmmm..."
Q:What attacks are good against mummies?
Wren draws her Wand of Acid Arrow and 5' steps into the room.
"Fury-ON!" Wren evokes the power of the wand (13/21 left).
1d20 + 5 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 5 - 4 - 4 = 6 ranged touch (cover, combat)
Round 1, Init 8
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Will Save vs. DC 16
Wren's near continue babble discontinues for some moments of blissful silence.
Plumie, unaccustomed to such silence, begins to squawk loudly.
"Why of course, dearie," Wren replies as she removes a long feather from her armor and begins to make brushing motions at Kevin. Cast Prestigiditation. Clean him up.
He always wants to look his best for me.
GM Sloth: would you add the map link to the description of the campaign so it shows at the top of every page? Right now it says: "Carrion Crown Part II - Trial of the Beast".
Wren looks at Galadan, the resident trapsmith as she concentrates on the aura, trying to discern a school. Should she fail and when Galadan looks, Wren will move just outside the room.
Continued concentration with Spellcraft. Still a 22 to determine school.
Was waiting for an Andrea chime in, but will proceed without.
Wren nods along with Galadan's wise words, excepting when it comes to her close personal friends like Stitches.
"I agree, good Galadan...that is abhorrent magic. Let us move along to the sarcophagus over there...there is magic within. It reminds me of that time I was in the spooky castle...blahblahblah...found a hidden cache of magic! Wands that I shoved up....blahblahblah...magic bolts...blahblahblah...holy damage to the nether-regions...blahblahblah...by the time I got my clothes back on. That was right, wasn't it Plumie?"
Wren invites others to inspect the sarcophagi.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 Perception
Kevin, Galadan (when you're back), Aldous: feel free to push the action when you guys can.
Wren shares the information in the spoiler above, comparing the items of interest to various birds and avian related babblery. (It's almost as if she relates to the world by comparing everything to a bird.)
"...and that's why tentacles should not be used as...blahblahblah...stuck too often. Does that makes sense, Mr. Hastur?"
Wren ruffles her feather armor and tests out her voice...as if she hasn't spoken in months. Her chicken-like lips working extra hard to loosen.
'Well done, Mr. Hastur! That reminded me a lot of this one man I used to know...blahblahblah...disappeared without notice...blahblahblah...too many halflings!...blahblahblah...one foot before the other right into the cow patty!"
Wren sighs and looks at the carnage and then begins to take in the laboratory in more detail.
"This looks interesting, does it not? Reminds me of this Professor's house I used to stay at...blahblahblah...the walls started to bleed and all...blahblahblah...lots of books and free food...blahblahblah...dreams of me and Kev-...blahblahblah...doing the reverse osprey, of course. Isn't that right, Plumie?"
Wren will take her time to examine the laboratory and see if anything sparks her interest, taking particular note of the tentacled thing.
Take 20 perception: 29 perception Casting Detect Magic too. Who leaves a lab with a mimic protecting yet no magic around?

I'll get into Rolld20 tonight, but remember you said you were going to explore the Gamespace too...it might be a better method. Or not.
I, too, am still drained from PaizoCon and work is work.
I'm totally fine with finishing the combat...I'll just assume Wren talked them to death. It's a very real possibility. I know this because I spent more than a few minutes in TES's yapping at PaizoCon and felt myself slipping away...
I just need Wren and Aldous/Hastur to log in to Roll20 and that portion of the setup will be complete.
Er...uh...yeah...I'll get to it tomorrow.
Been planning my travel plans, TES. Busy week coming up. :)
1. When did the party level up to 5th? I was looking back trying to remember and I think I keep missing it. I'm also trying to get the party's current XP from Thod, so I'll have an idea where you all are with that.
August 12, 2012 nearly 10 months ago.
2. What is your own, personal motivation for continuing on the quest you're all currently on?
Wren:A. has no where else to go.
B. is certain her dear friends would miss her if she left.
C. wants to save and protect her bird-of-a-feather friend Stitches.
D. wants to continue to protect her flock.
Painlord's New Motivation (OOC):
I've spoken to (and thanked) Thod for running this game for so long. However, one of Wren's many fans has offered to take over GMing this PbP.
I've gotten Thod's blessing and would like to introduce you to ThreeEyedSloth who has volunteered to test his GM mettle against the likes of us yahoos. All he is is a 4-star PFS GM, the VL of Bakersfield, and one of my favorite yahoos over to play PFS.
If you guys will accept him, we'll pick up the game where we left off.
Galadan, you in?
Post here if you're still interested. I'm giving until Thursday 6pm PST, then I'll begin to recruit replacements.
Let's rock this thing. *squawk*
Wren continues to chitter away, unhappy by the mimickery.
Wren will draw her wand of Acid Arrow and try to wound the mimic.

Wren steps behind Mr. Hastur.
"Ooh! You should hit the hard, dearie."

Wren chitters on until the mimic reveals itsself.
"Oh dearie, what is that?"
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 Knowledge: Dungeon
Wren's action is to chitter about the creature and to back away.
Sorry Thod. I think I was waiting on the door I opened above, unless this vial room is that. Wren is happy to move along. Since Kevin and Mr. Hastur are often loathe to push directions and move the party along, may Wren assuming that they are in front?
Wren examines the creatures, slowly and carefully, trying to recall what she can of them.
Take 20s to ID:
"What do we have here, dearies? Anything like my good friend, Stitches?"
Wren looks around, and finding little, moves to the door in the outside wall.
"Probably a closet, dearies, let me just check," Wren says as she opens the door.
Wren coos excitedly as the beast falls.
"Terrible thing that one...not at all like my good friend, Stitches. I wonder if he's been by here?"
Wren looks around again, examining the homunculii for things of interest.
Cast Detect Magic.
Wren continues to coo as the battle continues in favor of the good birds.
Wren will come behind Kevin, seeking to assist for his next attack.
Wren will touch Kevin with Diviner's Fortune. (Diviner's Fortune: +2 (9/day) (Sp) Creature touched gains +2 to attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1r. 1/9 used today.)
While this is an uncertain, unmapped battlefield, I believe it's possible for Kevin and Mr. Hastur to move forward and attack. The gap is still there (and will be for another 5 rounds), but there are two additional squares they can 5' step to and attack.
If one of them wants to get flank, they can even do that, but that would likely provoke, but with a -4 to the attack roll for attacking from prone.
