Description: Certain philosophers in Altdorf say that there are three indelible facts that can be said to be true about any man. For Vulpert Schwartzhahn, they are these: he is tall, lanky, and smells of a midden-heap. A man who makes a living using his scab-covered hands to pick through the dross of others can rarely be particular in his tastes, and and for this reason, Vulpert is a remorseless opportunist. Inherently a coward by nature, he carries himself with a false bravado helped along by an intimidating stature that masks his true timidity in much the same way that his over-sized frock coat hides his half-starved physique. Despite his reprehensible grooming and hygiene, he is surprisingly genial and gregarious for a man who is barely a step above a common beggar, and can often talk his way out of situations that would otherwise leave him beaten, robbed, or jailed. His most dangerous quality however, is an unlikely ability to lead and inspire others coupled with the quixotic belief that somewhere in the next trash-heap, alley, or ruin is the precious discovery that will make Vulpert and those foolish enough to follow his preposterous schemes wealthy and powerful.
