The party looks around for yet another spider... but none approaches...</p>
<p>Inside the "Trap" of the spider's lair, the party finds a number of silken-wrapped spider eggs, resting upon a pile of bones.</p>
<p>The bones seem to be very old, stubborn remains the spider for whatever reason did not or could not clear out of it's hiding place.</p>
<p>The first corpse is that of a bandit — his old suit of masterwork leather still intact — it seems the majority of damage to the skeleton was done in uncovered areas. He also has a maskerwork dagger and 10 gp, as well as a medallion in the shape of a silver stag worth 25 gp.</p>
<p>(the party has seen these medallions before on chosen agents of the stag lord) </p>
<p>The second body is even older — the body of an ancient tax collector — who's tax-bag contains 20 pp and 253 gp.</p>
<p>The third body is that of a hedge-wizard of some kind, his bony fingers still wearing a silver ring worth 75 gp, a CL2 wand of burning hands with 6 charges, and a mostly ruined spellbook besotten with rain. The spells that remain legible in the spellbook are : (identify, mage armor, reduce person, silent image, and unseen servant.)</p>
<p>This was a dangerous trap in the wilds and the party also gains an xp bonus for clearing the region of this monsterous trap. <p>Makoa's mighty blade is about to sever the head of the beast entirely when it finally reacts to the storm of blows and retracts agily back a few feet, the No-Dachi kicking up grass and ground alike from the power of the blow.</p>
<p>Then the Spider LURCHES To the side and attempts to enfold it's limbs around Ryker, but Ryker is too fast, displacing his body so the effort of the monster is wasted...</p>

If the party cannot slay the grievously wounded spider before it can drag Makoa into it's Lair, they will have an entirely new dilemma on their hands — Fighting to lift the trap door while the second spider bears down upon them!</p>

The "Lahppiduk" has the authority and freedom to treat with outsiders to the fey in rare cases when the interests of the wild do not seem to coincide with the affairs fey nobles. Interactions with fey of this order are generally expected and long-established, elsewise they may concern some dark portent if "Lahppiduk" are seeking the assistance of outsiders. They generally commune with an established sage or shaman or can be found policing areas where the wilds are exploited by outsiders, such as foresters, hunters and particularly trappers — meting out trickery or justice where necessary.</p>

There would surely be bounties on the heads of any Thawn that could be found and killed — as they are a menace to hunters and trappers alike curtailing free range of what few people do attempt to make a living in the stolen lands.</p>
<p>Another tale he tells of an area southwest across the river that is rich with fruits and berries, marking it on your maps. He notes that the area is likely plagued by swarms of spiders, and offers the party 4 free alchemist fire(s) if you happen to run afoul of the creatures.</p>
<p>He doesn't know anything about the lush meadow you mentioned with the strange tracks leading in but not out, but says to watch out for "apex predators" in the region — whose lairs are often overgrown because animals have learned to avoid too close to where they make their nests.</p>
<p>He speaks of "Old Tuskgutter" — a great boar that also plagues the region, and says it might be found if hunted in the eastern part of the woods nearby. </p>
<p>Lastly he says that he too has been visited by visions of imbalance in nature and a secret war playing out within the wood. Some great power among the Fey Court has upset the natural order leaving two spirits of the woods at odd with each other — A good tree spirit of growth, called "The Lahppiduhk" is now in a struggle with a spirit of decay called "The Asphodel" — Whichever wins will determine the fate of the face of the forestlands, whether they become strong woods of light or swampy barrens of decay. The two spirits used to be at peace but now seek some way to gain advantage over the other.</p>
