I'll definitely want several ghouls and at least one denizen. I'm not sure I like the wraith but it is consistent, artistically, with the HM specter. The scanderig is interesting, but I can't see it fitting into my campaign world.

Thanks, EdOWar, for the S&W White Box feats! They are going to get worked into my S&W campaign soon!

I really think that a 64 page splatbook or an expansion box set that extended the beginner box options to level 10 and added a few more classes, a couple of demi-human races, and more monsters would be a huge seller. I wouldn't expect Paizo to support the game beyond that point, but it would make the beginner system the perfect entry level game and keep players who would not migrate into Pathfinder core rules in the Paizo fold.

Nice miniatures! The treachery demon is a Must-Have; a very different looking glabrezeu, indeed! Excellent facial sculpt on the young red dragon, though I hope the belly is painted somewhat darker in the final version; the cream color is just too light, imho. The bugbear is very cool; I hope there is at least one more in the set.

I like the paint job on the cleric and succubus better than the one on the H&M versions.

I purchased a hardback for myself because I've always preferred hardback books and softbacks for the players. The softbacks are pretty sturdy and are holding up well.

That is all true, however my new lich currently has a folded-up piece of tissue paper on him. He came holding his goat's-head staff in front of his face, like a mask on a stick, so I'm using the tissue to hold it straight off to the side in the hope that it'll learn to stay that way.

If you're having trouble keeping the staff in the right position, gently heat the figure by dipping it in hot water or heat it with a blow dryer until it becomes slightly bendy, reposition the staff, and dip the mini in ice-cold water for a few minutes. This should lock the staff into its correct shape.

I was really looking forward to this figure but the product in hand is a disappointment. Though well-painted, it is somewhat smaller than the figures released in the Beginner Box Heroes. However, my main complaint is that Seelah's head is simply a ball without any features; no nose, no mouth, no cheeks, with eyes and hair painted on it. This is a not only a rare but an iconic; it should be better than this.

I bought a brick from the FLGS and I'm waiting for the complete set that I ordered from Auggies to arrive. Just a few thoughts now that I've seen the minis in hand:

1. Make.More.Dragons.Please! The promo dragon is superb!

2. In the future, have whoever sculpted the Ezrin, Kyra, and Gnome Fighter figures sculpt all PC figures. These figures are accurately scaled with great details and correct proportions. I was disapointed with the half-elf cleric (weird proportions), Elf Sorceress (misshapen head with odd ears), and the dwarf (too large).

3. A little wash goes a long way: the half-orc barbarian is a great sculpt but the paint job was ruined by too much wash; his skin is splotchy black in places with the wash build-up and the right side of his face is completely obscured by the black wash.

4. Both of the spiders were awesome! Great design and superb painting!

5. I like the size of the ogre but its proportions are just too wonky. The arms are cartoonishly big for the body. I'm not a fan of the albino-like skin coloring, either, but that is a small quibble.

6. Goblins Rule!

In all, this is a great first effort but there is room for improvement. Looking forward to ROTRL!

Using eBay as a base line reference, the red has starting bids from $36 to $300 while the black has bids starting from $1.00 to $125. The higher amounts are Buy It Now offers. I doubt that people will actually pay the higher amounts, but you never know.

Other than the similar poses for the MK dwarf and the Pathfinder dwarf, the minis don't look the same at all.

I picked up a box at the FLGS this afternoon. Great job on these minis! Lots of detail and excellent painting on all four!

I like this game a lot. Let me quote my review on DriveThruRPG:

"Designed around a simple, intuitive, mechanic (2d6 + modifiers vs. Difficulty), QUERP delivers fast play and easy resolution of combat and non-combat encounters. The game works well as an introductory set of rules for a young person, a tool to teach the elements of role playing to someone unfamiliar with rpgs, a set of rules for a quick game, or as the core rules for an experienced game master who looking for a system that can be easily house-ruled to his tastes.

"The 70 page book contains six character classes (Warrior, Priest, Magician, Thief, Barbarian, and Sage), rules for playing the game, a short bestiary, treasure tables, a solo adventure, and a group adventure. It is written in a clear, user-friendly style that conveys the rules without getting bogged down in game jargon."

The modular format of the books lets you pick and choose your options. I recommend picking up the core book to check out the mechanics and, if you like it, expand the options with the Players and Game Masters Companions (more player character templates, rules for creating custom characters, more spells), the Bestiary, and QUERP Modern.

One site I really liked when D&D was making their pre-painted minis, was a site called DDM Spoilers. As soon as any information/images were available on a pending mini release, they would post it on their site. The site is now gone, but I liked how it also provided collectors like me with all the alternate paints and promos available.

Actually, it is still around under a different name:

From the latest blog:

COMMON CREATURES
Goblin Warrior
Goblin Hero
Dire Rat
Gnome Fighter
Orc Brute
Orc Warrior
Skeleton
Watch Guard
Watch Officer
Lizardfolk Champion
Zombie
Giant Spider
Wolf

This is shaping up to be a very nice set. Kudos to Paizo for the previews and releasing the set list in advance of the release!

It appears two of the pics are different angles of the same goblin; so we've got two more we haven't seen yet. I love the lunatic appearance of these little guys!

The ettin is very cool but I think the Human Ranger is my favorite mini so far! Very nice action pose!

Kutholiam Vuere

The medusa mini is great but don't care for the snake; the figure would look better without it, imho. The lich is really spooky looking! I'm looking forward this release!

The one thing I hope WizKids accomplishes that DDM never did: consistent scale. I have DDM figures that are all over the place in scale; 25mm to 33mm, dwarves taller than humans, near-halfling sized humans.....I'm sure everyone is familiar with the problem. Please WizKids, pick a scale and stick with it!

On 10/06/08, I received an email confirmation that Paizo Order #1053685 would be shipping shortly and to expect it in 4 to 8 days. To date, I haven't received it. Could you please check on what happened to my order? I've already received my Pathfinder subscription and another order both of which shipped after this purchase.

Thanks,

in our group, crits happen only on a natural 20; no confirmation, doing max damage.

I'd like Paizo to partner with Reaper Minis to make prepainted plastic Pathfinder minis; first release: a box set of the iconic characters. (Come on, you know the Seoni figure will drive sales through the roof, lol.)

Regards,

V

Kutholiam Vuere

It must be landscape format. I'd find the Conditions Table, XP Table, and Combat Modifiers most useful. While I love the Pathfinder world, avoid putting setting specific data on the screen.

Why use such an oddball solution instead of (say) using a bigger point buy? Not that there's anything wrong with oddball solutions.

Not my choice. I wanted to give them 30 points; a couple argued that was too much. Others were stroking out over the -2 penalty on demi-humans (which I don't care for, but it's not a deal breaker to me). After an hour of going over it, that's what the 4 players decided they wanted; lol.

QFT. This thread is like reading through Blizzard's World Of Warcraft Forums. I keep waiting for someone to jump out behind a bush screaming "NERF WARLOCKS" at any moment...

Having read some of the OP's posts on the WOTC boards during the run-up to 4E, I assure you he has not yet begun to be offensive. Whatever valid points he tries to make get buried by his sarcasm and vitrol.

V

Kutholiam Vuere

We've just started playing the beta. At the character creation session, some players did not like how few points they got to make their characters. After a bit of discussion, we compromised on using the 25 point buy and eliminating the -2 penalty for demi-humans. To sort of balance this out for the humans and half-elves, they get a +2 and a +1 to place in whatever ability they want (but not both in the same ability).

I'm very pleased with the gazetteer and am going to use it when I start my 4E campaign this summer. I posted this question in the thread gazetteer thread below but no one's answered; how do you pronounce Cheliax? Is it Chel-e-ax, CHEL-e-aa, or Chel-e-az?

Regards,

V

Kutholiam Vuere

I just recently purchased the gazeteer and am very impressed with it. I have a small question, however. What is the correct pronunciation of Cheliax? I want to put a French spin on the word and say "Chel-e-aa" but one of my players thinks it's "Chel-e-ax" and another thinks it's "Chel-e-az."

Thanks,

V

This is so sad. I own literally hundreds of miniatures that he sculpted over the years starting back in the 1980's when he worked for Ral Partha. He was a phenomenal talent.

A castle! Coolness, indeed!

I purchased the Village set; it's worth the price for the tavern tiles alone. I've also pre-ordered the Graveyard set. The tiles are very convenient, portable, means for setting the scene in an encounter.

Regards,

V

Kutholiam Vuere

I wouldn't mind buying the tiles and scenarios for this line to use with D&D prepainted minis but I just don't have the time anymore to paint minis. Any chance that in the future the tiles and scenarios will be bundled and sold separately from the miniatures?

Regards,

V

Kutholiam Vuere

I received my Village map set in the mail today. Wow, am I impressed! Very nice detail on all the tiles! This set will get a lot of use in my Castles & Crusades rpg. I am going to get the graveyard set when it becomes available, too.

As for future sets, I'd like to see a multi-level keep (dungeon, ground floor, second floor, roof)consisting of about six tiles per level; a wizard's tower; a geomorphic cavern set (in fact, several of these); a good and an evil temple, another urban set or two to complement the Village pack (a two-story inn would be very useful); a Dwarven stronghold; and an Orc or Goblin stronghold.

Kutholiam Vuere

I absolutely recommend giving C&C a try. Game play is significantly speeded up by removing all the wargame-ish/tactical rules such as Attacks of Opportunity. The Siege Engine task resolution system streamlines ability checks and saving throws, eliminating the need for a clunky skill/feat system, and the character classes are well balanced.

As mentioned, it is simple to port in anything from any edition of D&D, giving the CK a vast wealth of resources to draw from. And the simplicity of the rules allow for on-the-fly game mastering; something not easy to do in the current edition of D&D.

V
