Appearance:

A tall trim elf with that look in his eyes that says "Wow that dude is nuts," Varniel generally wears black skin-fitting clothing with lots of pockets (can never have too many pockets). In the arena he wears a porcelain white mask with the symbols from the tribe he abandoned in his childhood painted across in bright red. He keeps his sword at his side and his bow and quiver across his back. He keeps his various extracts and phials in their own individual pockets, all strictly organized on his person by some mad scheme only he really understands.

Background:

Born into a war-waging clan of elves, Varniel was young when he first saw battle. While he had been trained martially, the mental stress of being in open combat caused him to snap and he fled.

After escaping, he took up academic work in an effort to forget everything he'd been taught. This worked to a point but he still had nightmares often. As he grew older, he became desensitized to the nightmares and the violence within them. Eventually, he grew to like it.

A talented alchemist, Varniel has a fascination with the captivity of creatures, spending hours staring at his collection of "bottled beauties" and plotting how and where to get more. Almost inevitably, Varniel began teaching himself to create duplicates of his beauties, lest they accidentally be destroyed.

Recently, he has signed up for the gladiator battles. After years of simply staring at his beauties, it started to lose the intrigue it once had. Now he's interested in bigger prey.
