This was a fun game, all that time travel stuff got a bit confusing though ...

Oooh! I'm naked!

"Uh ... Sari, a moment?" Valessa grabs Sari's arm. "We need to visit the powder room," she says over her shoulder to the men.

"Sari, what are you doing?" she asks the other woman when they have some privacy. "He can be a real sleaze you know. He hit on me before you know?"

“Alright, so are we going after this Malenti? If so, we need to find out where to find it, find a way to get there, and purchase any survival equipment we might need.”

Valessa starts searching her knowledge of where the Sahuagin who raided the town (the pleasure boat) the other week, and any known Malenti in the area, might have hailed from.

Knowledge, Local: 19+7 = 26

Valessa is lost in thought.

3600gp each, plus an extra share of the same, which I will not on my character sheet.

“Alright, so are we going after this Malenti? If so, we need to find out where to find it, find a way to get there, and purchase any survival equipment we might need.”

Valessa starts searching her knowledge of where the Sahuagin who raided the town (the pleasure boat) the other week, and any known Malenti in the area, might have hailed from.

"Well, let's divide this gold up with an extra share ... if one of the others come back, they can have what's left of that share. Otherwise, we can use it as a fund for turning swords into people and such."

Yup.

"Wow ... I think I got a good deal," says Valessa on her return, hauling a sack of coins, small gems and trade bars. "At least I hope I got a good deal ... a lot of money anyway. Now ... I guess we don't need to keep a share for Rokko now that he's with Ghorkin ... and Beren's gone ... hey, where's Merrek this morning? Did he leave with Beren too?"

“I don’t know what Beren thinks he’s doing,” mutters Valessa, “but if he doesn’t want our help, fine!” She seems upset.

But calms down a bit after breakfast. “Well, someone help me find a buyer for these giant coins – with some money behind us we have more options…”

Valessa thinks about somewhere in town to sell the coins … Local Knowledge result 22, as above.

Local Knowledge: 15+7 = 22, in regards to possible buyers for the coins. If that’s not enough, maybe someone could try an aid another roll, or we could attempt to gather information.

Much as it pains me to give any benefit to Ghorkin or Rokko, I wonder if we should intrust it to the pair of them, to return to the University museum – with all of us credited as discoverers of course! Unless someone really wants to try to hang onto it .. I suppose one could wear heavy gloves, or perhaps Brick could safely use it … But I just have this worrying feeling that the … Daelkyr are going to want it back…

Any other responses to the above? Does anyone in the group want to keep the spear, or shall we entrust it to Rokko to return it to Morgrave?

The sword ... maybe we can find a wizard in Stormreach who'd be willing to try to change it back?

The coins, Valessa will ask around town for a buyer.

Once that's done, let's start trying to find out where the Malenti might be.

I’m fairly sure that Utak/Beren will not be returning to the game. He hasn’t been on the boards in months, and I’ve heard through the grapevine (via another player) that he’s quit my game.

It's cool man. This was more a bump for me, as the thread had become undotted and almost dropped off the bottom of the page.

All, could we get a show of hands as to who wants to stick with this game? Looks like maybe just Valessa, Brick and Ruuz?
Also Dragonmann, any chance of a recap as to the Sahuagin situation? What do we know so far?

“So, that was a bit of a bust,” comments Valessa to her strangely quiet companions once they return to Stormreach. “Did anyone manage to pick up any treasure or artefacts? What are everyone’s plans now?”

Fair enough. Do we know if any of the Morgrave expedition survived? Was Valessa able to get back to Ghorkin etc in time?

All leveled by the way.

Valessa is in something of a daze on the way back through the jungle to Stormreach. What really happened back there? Did she really spend several days thousands of years in the past, in the Age of Giants? Did an entire ruin just … vanish in time? And what do they have to show for it all? A mithral disk, a strange, screaming sword, that weird spear …

Valessa is generally leveled as rogue, just need to allocate skill points.

i didn't have a running tally of xp, but if 5k is enough to level twice (meaning you were within 1k of level 4) then you are level 5

I don't think we will. While it's possible I missed some xp along the way, my tally was 3050. +5000 brings it to 8000 odd, enough for level 4 but shy of level 5.

Wow, the intensity and drama don't seem to be building the way I hoped.

Ok, here is Valessa's planned actions in the coming rounds; she will give the targetting disc to whoever is staying behind in this chamber, saying "If everything starts going to s~@$, and I'm not back yet, make sure you're up on this platform and put the disc inside that vortex there," pointing to the swirling vortex above their heads. "That should get you to safety. But wait until the last possible moment alright? I want to get out of here alive!"

She will then make her way down to the floor of this chamber via the quickest possible method (short of jumping); be that by climbing down the pillar on a rope or running down through the amphitheatre.

While Ruuz is trying to repair Brick and the others are getting him back onto the platform, she will run back through the corridors with all haste to the chamber they left the professor and Mishelle. She will call out the giantish phrase to open the door when she gets there and urge them to come WITH ALL HASTE back with her if they want to live.

If Beren or someone wants to come with her, she'll welcome the help - but no one slow (heavy armour wearers or short legs).

If they argue or delay, she'll leave them; either way, racing back to this chamber and trying to get back onto the pillar before the others put the targetting disc into the vortex.

If the place starts falling apart or something to the degree that she doesn't think she can get back, she will take her chances with heading to the central chamber and trying to climb back up the rope to the jungle surface instead.

“We can’t leave Dorkin and Mishelle here either,” says Valessa, suddenly remembering.

Maybe its just as quick to go back down via the stairs/grandstand thingy rather than a rope?

Time is playing havoc with my memory on this; as far as Valessa can remember, was she told that she should activate the targetting disk on top of the pillar to get them out?

Remind us where he is again?

Valessa races back on to the top of the platform, already pulling the fifty foot length of silk rope from her pack.

“Alright, this is how we need to do this,” she says, uncharacteristically confident and in charge (rather than just her normal brashness).

“Someone strong needs to stay up here and hold the rope. Sari, Beren, you two are probably the strongest, it needs to be one of you. The rope is only fifty feet, and I’m going to need a bit to tie Brick on, so you’ll need to lie down on here, lean over the edge, the grip that roof as if my life depended on it –which it will.

“Someone else who can climb needs to come down the rope with me and help lift Brick a bit so I can tie him onto the rope. Everyone else needs to help Sari or whoever, make sure she doesn’t get pulled over while we’re going up and down the rope.

“One Brick’s tied on, we climb back up, and then we all pull Brick up. Sound good?”

She hands the rope over to Sari or Beren and prepares to climb. “Unless someone has a better suggestion?”

Like if someone can heal Brick? Repair spells or potions? Cure’s are only at half strength on warforged, so I’m not sure how effective that’ll be if he’s at –8.

We're up to Sari ... but you guys might want to delay, 'cos I think Valessa is the only one who has rope.

"Ive got rope!" yells Valessa, hurrying forward (on her turn...)

“Frak … he’s smashed up pretty badly…” Valessa glances down at the broken warforged lying atop the remains of the dragon down below, then up at the swirling vortex above the pillar and back down at the platinum disk in her hand.

How high above the floor is the top of the pillar?

“We have to kill the – oh!” Valessa starts to yell back at Beren, then stops when Brick abruptly jumps off the pillar onto the dragon.

“Khyber!” she swears, starting to run back towards the centre of the pillar (on her turn – she’s currently out a little way on the bridge). “We have to get it – him! – Brick! – back up here! We all need to be on top of the pillar … I … I think…”

Her companions may notice that Valessa has the platinum disk that the group found in the circular chamber right at the beginning of this delve in her hand.

Ruuz stares up at the growing hole at a lost on what to do. "Valessa what is going on?"

“Time portal!” Valessa yells over to answer Ruuz’ question, pointing up at the glowing disk. “Apart from that I don’t know – a way out of here maybe, or a way for something to come through.”

She shoulders her bow, then digs around in her pack, retrieving the targeting disk.

Merreck

Beren is out for the count.

Rokko once again raises his crossbow to fire at the dragon. “This is getting old,” he mutters as the bolt bounces off its scales. Attack: 10+6 = 16.

Valessa raises her newly re-acquired bow and also fires at the dragon – but her attention is distracted by the glowing hole in the air, and the arrow flies wide. [/ooc]Attack: 5, miss[/ooc]

Is the hole directly above the central platform?

Merreck, then Ruuz.

I think that it was your readied action that you rolled last time.

Or an AOO - Anyway, Sari is up.

A look of recognition dawns in Valessa’s eyes, and she suddenly begins rummaging in her pack for something.

“Our way out, or something else coming through?” she mumbles, mostly to herself.

Perhaps i should have put ON YOUR TURN in big bold letters...

Ooohhhh...... oops.

Valessa flutters her eyelashes innocently.

Hmmm … I’m sure I posted this a few days ago, but it doesn’t seem to be around. Oh well.
Spot: 17+5 = 22

“What’s that?!” exclaims Valessa, pointing upward. “Some sort of … vortex?”

Ruuz: 22+

Dragon: 22-
Brick: 12
Sari: 11+

“Whoever thought slaying a dragon would be so hard,” growls Valessa, running back a few paces to her dropped bow and picking it up, letting her rapier fall to the ground.

Fort: 3+3 = 6
3 hp damage

Valessa begins to cough uncontrollably as the dust envelopes her and wracking pains course through her chest and limbs.

Rokko lets another bolt fly at the rising Dragon.

AoO Crossbow Attack (Roll 18+6-4=20), Damage (Roll =3)

Unless I am incorrect, Brick & Ruuz get an AoO. Then it will be Brick’s regular Initiative turn.

Maybe not - I don't think either were in melee range.

As the dragon begins to flap away, Valessa takes a last desperate stab at it.

Rapier: 18+3+2 (flanking) = 23. Crit confirm: 14+3+2 = 19, does not confirm crit.
Damage: 1+1 = 2 + 4 (sneak attack, flanking) = 6.

"Are we even hurting this thing?" Beren snarls as he strikes at the Dragon again.

“I don’t know!” Valessa yells back. “I don’t think so!” We haven’t had any description to indicate that any of our attacks have done damage so far … for the last few pages anyway.

She stabs again, still flanking the creature with Beren.

Rapier: 10+3+2 (flanking) +5 (action point) = 20
Damage: 2+1+2 (sneak attack) = 5

Or he could do something to hurt the dragon, or help the rest of us hurt it ... kind of a pre-emptive strike on the healing...

Once again taking advantage of her flanking position with Beren, Valessa stabs desperately at the dragon.

Attack with rapier: 13+3+2 (flanking)+6 (action point) = 24.
Damage: 2+1+3 (sneak attack): 6

Merrek next.

Seeing Beren close in on the beast, and Sari fall to it, Valessa charges the rest of the way along the walkway to the dragon’s back, drawing her rapier as she goes.
Seeking to flank the creature, she stabs at it, trying desperately to penetrate deeply enough to strike some vital organ.

Attack with rapier:18 +3 +3 (action point) +2 (charging) +2 (flanking) = 28
Crit confirm: 11+10 = 21
Damage: 3+1 = 4 + 4 for sneak attack (flanking) + 3 if critical = 8 or 11

Dammit, I think Sari is down.
If so, Beren and Rokko are up.
Valessa’s going to try to flank the dragon with Beren (if he’s still in combat) this round, to get sneak attack damage… if she can hit…

Valessa gains the walkway leading to the pillar, and jogs partway along it towards the dragon, firing her bow again as she goes, but her arrow clangs harmlessly off the beast’s armoured hide.

Attack: 7+4+5 (AP) = 16.

Next round she will attempt to get close to it, flank it with someone and sneak attack.

Valessa nocks her bow as she runs, taking a running shot at the dragon as she makes for the top of the pillar.

Move action towards path to pillar. Fire bow: 17 + 4(AP) + 4 = 25. Damage: 3 (Additional +1 to hit and damage if she’s within 30 feet by now)

Initiative order has been a bit screwy the last few rounds, made more confusing by a number of the party members delaying their shot till the dragon crested the pillar or posting slightly out of order. By my reckoning, Brick healed LAST round, and started climbing this round.

If I am correct, we are done for this round and back to the top with:
Ruuz: 22+ (due to previous readied action – on top of pillar)
Dragon: 22-
Brick: 12 (climbing up pillar)
Sari: 11+ (on top of pillar)
Beren: 11- (on top of pillar)
Rokko: 7 (I’m unsure of his location)
Valessa: 6 (running towards top of pillar)
Merreck: 4 (on top of pillar)

Brick snaps awake with a start. His coconut-sized head swivels alarmingly, sizing up the situation. The whole scenario comes thundering into his mechanical brain all at once.

"DRAGONDRAGONDRAGONDRAGONDRAGON!"

Shortly after seeing the DRAGON, he notices Ruuz crumpled in a pool of his own blood. Not good.

Where is Ruuz in relation to fig.1: Brick, fig.2: pillar, and fig.3: DRAGON?

I believe that Ruuz and the dragon are both at the top of the pillar - Brick is at the base of it.

We skipped Brick I think.
