Vaashti takes the evening to make her rounds in The Veil. This place really needs an infirmary. An actual infirmary stocked with medicines and a healer available for any to come to. With that thought in her mind, Vaashti retires to her bed, wondering what the cairns would bring.
"Are we headed to the cairns, then?" Vaashti asked with a tone of hopefulness. Maybe she could find clues about her father there, and what happened to him.
All right, going to go with Magus, just because I have never played one before. Be on the lookout for a character sheet soon!
Heya boyo! Just popping in to dot this one and give interest. If you don't mind a non-maxed character I may just play a magus or (gasp) a bard! Had a spear-wielding barb in the last one, so totally different this time, swear! If you have a specific gap you'd like filled or even a character concept, I'd be happy to flesh it out for you.

Vaashti's eyes looked up at the man when he mentioned the cairns. She spoke up at that point. "Do you know Paten C'Tan? He was my father, and Laurel said he disappeared while investigating the cairns..." She trailed off expectantly.

How much do you want to help with the potions, Sutandir?
"Ruhk, who is this Kullen fellow you refer to? And why would he come after you?" *** "Sharotl, I thought you said he was gone without a trace. Is there another family member that might be taking care of his house?" GM: My question about inns was based on a potential desire to build one. Would the town support another inn? It's either that or set up an infirmary, using Laurel as apothecary support (if she would be interested). Or going in jointly with Sutandir, since he seems interested in expanding his alchemy knowledge to the realm of healing.
Vaashti can hold the wand as necessary.
@GM - Any status update for Vaashti's post? @Sutandir - Vaashti will definitely help get cleric spells to oils/potions, if allowed. She'll also chip in for her share of the potions.
Vaashti followed Sutandir's directions to The Vein, realizing that she had been there before, in that altercation with the brutish half-orc. With her looks, it didn't take long to find the brothels, though the services she was offering weren't the usual for those establishments. It took a bit of haggling - falling back on her help with the curatives - to get the madames and panderers to allow her to help the girls in the houses, healing small wounds, curing diseases, and the like. She even managed to haggle some payment out of them, though never from the whores themselves. It was exhausting work, and she prayed to Milani regularly during this time, offering justice only as she could, in health and spiritual well-being. Justice in the temporal form would have to wait. She was careful not to cut into Laurel's business, not wanting to damage her burgeoning relationship with her cousin. She also didn't want to hurt Sutandir's relationship with his Master, as Vaashti and the young alchemist spent a lot of her down time together, working on alchemical versions of her divine spell repertoire. GM: Using whatever skills, spells, channels you feel necessary to help the whores' lives out. Probably will earn influence and maybe capital as well. Also, is there a doctor or house of healing in this town that isn't the temple? Edit: Also, what inns are available?
Sutandir and GM: "I think I'd like that," Vaashti said, feeling a little uncomfortable. "And, as you say, the others too. I don't know how much help I'll be but there is no harm in trying." "As for the Vein, you can just point the way. I don't expect anyone to feel the need to come with me. But, if we have any remedy left over, may I take some with me? Knowing how whores are, I imagine many didn't come here for the cure, even if they were sick."
Depending on the quality of the crossbow, Vaashti can replace hers. All she has right now is a regular light crossbow. A masterwork (or better) version would be helpful.
GM and Sutandir: "Wait, you mean my father was here before? He died here? Well, in the cairns south of here? How far away is that? Do you know much about him? What was he like? Where...no, sorry. I don't mean to be a pest. It's just that I don't know much of anything about him. Mother never really talked about him."
"Most good people do avoid whores. It's one of the things that makes them good. Never mind that most whores don't particularly want to be doing what they do. Oh, there's always some, but they are few and far between. Where is The Vein? I've only been here a couple of days, well, in the town at least."
GM and Sutandir: "My mother mentioned you in passing, once when we were talking about father. She said you had healing abilities also, though not what kind. I was kind of hoping to find out more about his side of the family." "Do you use any magics in your alchemy here? Divine magics, I mean? I am still kind of new to this healing business." "I know this may be an uncomfortable question, but where are the whores around here? I need to see if any of them need my healing arts. They aren't used to kind treatment, you know, and most can't bear to walk into a temple. Well, Callistra's maybe, but that's not good for anyone, I think."
I still need to read the downtime rules. I had a 12 hour marathon gaming session on saturday and my brain is still fried.
Vaashti helped Sutandir and Laurel pass out the curatives, her smile growing larger with each person who thanked her or smiled her way. Even those that showed reticence or fear at her appearance - with cowl of her cloak pulled all the way forward once more - didn't diminish her feelings of helping others. She spent any small breaks between people to open up with Laurel and try and get more info on her father's family.
"Abosolutely, let's go! Laurel needs these materials yesterday. Vaashti followed Sutandir back to the shop, pride swelling in her heart. They had done it! Maybe now the source of the plague could be found and dealt with. She had done her part to save these people. Hopefully they had been quick enough.
@GM - Okay, that makes my choice easy. Character updated.
@GM - would you consider Selective Channeling to have a minimum of 1 when used?
"Sounds like you had the same dream I had. Weird little man challenging us to be the protectors of the area? Promising power in return for service? Warning of a great evil? Almost makes it sound as if this plague was only the precursor to something bigger."
OK. Character sheet updated with exception of mythic feat. haven't decided on that one yet.
Hierophant, obviously. Did we level as well, or just gain a mythic tier?
"Both the rod and the liquid have magical properties, though I cannot tell what they are at this time. Maybe you can identify the liquid, Sutandir?"
Vaashti looked appraisingly at the items gathered in the room, then closed her eyes to see the magical auras shifting about the area.
Milani - The Everbloom
Vaashti watched Kervos do the deed and nodded back to him. Then, closing her eyes she once again channeled Milani's energy to all around, hoping to restore health to all her fallen and injured friends.
"Is it...is it dead?" Vaashti winced as she looked down to see the remnants of the vast wound on her neck and upper chest. "If not, make sure of it before I heal everyone here."
He's stable. Now, I just need to close this... Vaashti's internal monologue broke off as she felt something move behind her. She turned and saw a glimpse of fur and teeth before a blinding pain hit her. Darkness spread to a gentle rose-colored light. She sat up, whole and unblemished. Her wings - not the crippled things she had carried most of her life, but expansive and powerful - curled up around her, tasting the light breeze that eddied around her. "Come child, now is not the time for you to enter this place." The voice spoke from behind her. Vaashti whirled to see what could only be the Everbloom, a rose-hued deity with the gentle face and flashing eyes. The goddess spoke again. "Do you truly wish to see the people of Falcon's Hollow healed? Then you must turn back. now is not the time for you to come to me...not yet." Vaashti started to answer, but then felt herself being pulled back into the darkness. She sat up with a gasp of pain, this time, her throat and chest aching from where the worg had torn into her. She stared into concerned eyes, these of the orc Rakarech, and tried to smile. Then, she saw Sutandir's still form and the thrashing mound of fur and teeth that had done for her. With a snarl of defiance, she snatched her morningstar from the ground beside her and lashed out at the worg's legs.
"Sutandir!" Vaashti dropped to her knees beside the fallen alchemist and held a hand over his massive wound. Ignoring the combat around her, she channeled a slight bit of Milani's divine power into the young man, just enough to stave off death and stop the bleeding as she began to work on the hideous wound.
Vaashti, not trusting the talking wolf and even more put off by the tone of its words, was ready with her spell when the thing lunged to the attack. Calling on Milani's power, she covered the group with a blanket of blessing, adding strength to their arms and hearts. Spoiler: Casting Bless. Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.
"Okay, I think we found the big wolf. Now what?" Vaashti tried to hide her nervousness with a show of bravado, all the while preparing to cast a spell of blessing. Diplomacy, she thought inanely, is the art of saying 'nice doggy' until you can find a big enough rock. mechanics: Readying Bless to cast if it looks like the wolf is going to attack.
Vaashti looked at the book curiously for a moment, then shook her head. "Never seen anything like it. But, seeing as how this was supposed to be a dwarven place, my guess is it is dwarvish. Maybe someone back in town can translate it."
Vaashti wrinkled her nose at the smell. "Wet dog smell, yuck. But...how would those wolves have been able to open and the close this door again? That makes little sense" She looked around the room for anything useful or valuable. She was also looking for another entrance into the room that the wolves might have used.
Vaashti blushed a little, the darkening of her purple skin barely noticeable. "A little over dramatic, don't you think? Still, I guess I'd rather be the legs than certain other parts of the anatomy."
Vaashti heard Ruhk get hit and immediately started searching her repertoire of spells for anything that would help. All she could think of was to heal everyone once more, and she bent her mind to that task. Calling once more on Milani's power, she sent a burst of healing energies outwards, encompassing all that struggled near her.
Vaashti cried out as the skeleton's claws bit into her shoulder and she scuttled away from the creatures around her. She tried to keep a firm grip on both shield and morningstar as she moved, but the pain made it hard to keep her mind straight. mechanics: Withdraw to out of range
After channeling, Vaashti grabbed a feebly struggling Rakaresh by the collar and began tugging him away from the fight.
"Lady of Courage, aid us now!" Vaashti cried, squeezing her eyes together in effort. A corona of blue-white light surrounded her and then pulsed outwards. Where it touched living flesh, wounds healed and spirits raised. The changes weren't massive, but subtle, and yet those around her felt that much more able to carry on the fight.
"Rak, switch with me." Vaashti called as she scuttled backwards to let the more martial druid get in closer to the skeletons. She ducked under his swing and reached out to Kervos once more. "Oh please let this work" she muttered as she prayed once more to Milani for healing magics.
Hearing Shartol's question, she quipped, "You hit it until it stops moving!"
"I can't do anything about the skeleton, but I can help get Kervos back on his feet." Vaashti rushed forward under the cover of her shield and reached an already glowing hand out to the unconscious and bleeding ranger. "Milani, aid him!" she cried as she released the healing energy.
Edit: dangit! at least he's stable
