I saw this first thing in the morning. This info really hit hard. Steve Irwin was such a powerful and charismatic voice for nature and conservation. I just hope that his ideals and beliefs will still be voiced. Also, and most important,God bless his family.

They could have updated their website with higher security. If you are using an older browser, you may not be able to gain access. Just a thought.

5'6" 205lb My wife calls me happily chubby. I agree.

Close to a year back, the Director and my immediate supervisor noticed that I was reading a copy of Dungeon or Dragon (not sure which) at lunch. He pulled me aside and told me that it was inappropriate to have that publication in the work place.

Being stubborn and noticing Entertainment Weekly and People on his desk, I started a debate and a brief education on what D&D was really like. He wasn't thrilled, but he never brought up the topic again when he noticed my reading choices at future lunches.

Then a few months ago, he approached me and asked about D&D again. It turns out that his 10 year old daughter was really getting interested in dragons and coming up with imaginative stories. He then asked me if I would teach her to play.

Then I got a bonus. (AKA: More money to buy RPG's)

I love D&D.

Rant: Need a longer list (sarcasm) (in case Rambo did not get it)

Well said. There's little that is more frustrating than ranting in a designated rant thread and then having people argue with your rant.

What I find frustrating and what I hate is when MB posters believe that message board etiquette is more important than patriotism. Especially when one generlizes a whole country & culture.

I HATE HOW EVERYONE b*&&!ES ABOUT G.BUSH AND YET YOU VOTED FOR HIM.
I hate how you guys started power gaming and ruined D&D!!
I hate that a lady could lose her children and still try and make money outta it......only in the U.S.A could that happen!!!
I hate that s%*&ty networks can all the good tv shows for more crappy surviors!!!!!!!!!!!!8+ seasons is enough guys!!
I hate that you guys think that when someone comes to america that they should speck american - not english - but american!!!
I hate that when 1000's die somewhere eles in the world its in the news for a few days but if it happens in the U.S.A(eg. 9/11)we have to hear about for years......for gods sake, you guys still go on about it!!!!!!!! Time to move on people.

I am usually a lurker and do not post much, but this was too tempting. Rambo you have some anger issues and quite possibly received some negative propaganda against Americans. Now I am proud to be an American. Are we all good people. NO! Just like every other country in the world there is good, bad, apethetic, empathetic, cruel, generous (yeah, yeah, yeah I could keep going)

You start off dissing our President. Fine, I am not a big fan either and voted for Kerry. But, then you dis our playing style. Yo HO HO stop right there.

Oh by the way, Survivor sucks, I care about any catastrophy (sp?) worlwide and have donated $1000's. All life on this planet is precious no matter what country you hail from or what genus of species you are.

Oh right, now for my rant - You can dis our justice system, dis our president, even dis our television networks (where did that come from?), but NEVER EVER EVER EVER DIS OUR DUNGEON & DRAGONS! And just a side note: If you are going to spend a good chunk of time in our wonderful USA learn F'n American.

I would respect your culture, and speak and dress appropriatly.

Hey Gaborg,

I am truely envious. I remember reading HoHR and realizing how many different things could go awry trying to pull off this caper. I am glad to hear that the plan went as written and your group was surprised and enjoyed the whole conspiracy. I wish I was there.

I have noticed this also. The bonus for dexterity far outreaches the benefits of heavy armor less the penalties.

Though, it could also be that since 3rd edition came out and my group reaching adulthood, we tend to be less min/max players and more true role-players.

Growing up I used to always play some sort of sword swinging meat grinder w/ unstoppable AC. 3rd Edition is more roleplaying friendly and adulthood helps me to appreciate the finer things in war. )IE: diplomacy, etiquette, and of course, spying.

thats my take

Utak gets out his credit card.

Paizo, here is some incentive to show how badly I want an AOW hardcover (or boxed set).

Now keep in mind, I have just under 3 years left in my Dragon Sub. & just under 2 years left in my Dungeon sub.

As soon as the AOW HC is announced, I will preorder. Also, I will re-up both mags for 3 years.

cha-ching!

Now, how about that hardcover.

Once again, great job to you all

I only skimmed through the PHII, but I focused mostly on the 4 new classes. The Knight pc class will make for some excellent roleplaying experiences. IMO the info on the Knight alone is worth the purchase. I also enjoy the artwork. I will have to admit, I buy almost everything WOTC publishes. Even if the content is of no interest or just plain poor, I still love the artwork.

Holy Crap Ultradan LOL

do you write comic strips?

I havn't guffawed that hard in a while.

Thanks.

I am speculating that Snape will turn out to be a hero. Snape and Dumbledore were arguing about something in the forest earlier in the book. I speculate that they were arguing about the necessity of the major climax in book 6.

"Knife of Dreams" finally gets the plot rolling again. I you would be interested in reading about how Lan and Moraine meet and having some background on Moraine and Siuane's (sp) relationship then the prequel "A New Spring" is worth picking up. I did hear rumor of Jordan working on a prequel trilogy with "A New Spring" being the first book. I personally enjoyed this novel.

1.) Braveheart
2.) LoTR
3.) Gladiator
4.) The Postman
5.) Office Space

I only skimmed thru "The Prince of Redhand", but all of the info that the pc's have regarding Lashonna are from Balakarde's notes. Those notes expain that she may be helpful. If the players are role-playing and not meta gaming, shouldn't they be using sense motive skills to detect any deceptive plots? Even with Detection spells / abilities, Lashonna probably has counter-measures in place. Again, I only skimmed the adventure and I realize that the stats on Lashonna are not given, but that is my take on the Redhand Problem.

I am interested in buying the AoW hardcover whatever the cost. I would even cash in my retirement savings to do so. Just dont tell my wife.

I just finished reading "The Beasts of Aulbesmil" in Dungeon #131. I thought it was a really great non-linear, well conceived adventure with the potential for high role-playing. At this point, after reading only one adventure, I was happy that my money was well spent. Then I turned the page and the artwork for "The Hateul Legacy" done by Cyril Van Der Haegen just blew me away. I would really love to see a full spread of this work or a chance to purchase a print off of the Paizo website.

Thanks for the high quality adventures, amazing artwork, DMing advice, campaign workbook (which is a great tool), and especially the adventure paths. Can't wait to buy the AOW hardcover.

I know this sounds like some major brown nosing, but Dungeon is my favorite read and is truley the best value for the money.

When I saw the title for this thread, my first thought was bugbears. I am also a fan or the classic D&D humanoid baddies. Gnolls, orcs, and goblins, Oh My!

I think he is trying to equate D&D with virginity. Or something. Most of the people that I know that play D&D are professionals and dont look the stereotypical part.

I was only quoting song lyrics, or actually just paraphrasing the only lines that I could remember. I meant no offense to anybody, and being happily married, I do not believe in the stereotypes either.

Lord Eisen does the song justice earlier in this thread.

Virgins till the day we die. Wait, I got a girl friend. No I don't.

Paizo definitely wants to follow up both products; hopefully Wizards will agree.

I hope an AOW hardcover comes to fruition. You guys are really doing a great job with it. Heck, I'd be willing to put a $50.00 deposit on it right now.

To BlackDragon: Excellent Post!

Certain Real-World religions believe that homo-sexuality is immoral. What is the belief of the religions in your gaming world? If this paladin follows a god/goddess of love, and it is the belief of this diety that all forms of love are beautiful, then a lesbian palidin does not have to justify her morality. This question is relative to your gaming world and to your game and players. Do not let Real-World religions dictate what is moral and/or immoral in your game unless you, or your players, have strong reglious beliefs for one side and it would disrupt the game. If you already allowed the PC, then it sounds like you are running a more liberal game. And there is nothing wrong with that.

To add my 2C. Dragon should include 100% D&D. Now for a side note. Erik, you and your team are doing an excellent job. #336 is awesome. I am still frothing at the mouth over James Jacobs' "Not For The Living".

I personally enjoy the occaisional inclusion of fiction in "Dragon". Especially if it is world specific. I enjoyed the prelude to the "Marked for Death" Eberron novel, and the recent FR fictin. Perhaps once a quarter fiction could be included. The originator of this post does have a valid point. If the fiction is not game related it should not have a place in "Dragon". If the fiction is world specific though, then the story helps the reader identify with the campaign setting which can enhance game play.

Keep this in mind. A writer, well, writes. If writing makes you happy, then keep doing it. The end goal may not always be your preference, but no editor, agent, or publisher can tell you to stop writing. Write for you. Even if there is no room for your work right now, who can say what a publisher and/or the public may want 10, 15, 20 years from now. Keep writing, improve your technique, be creative and above all enjoy the process.

I am not surprised how popular this thread is. I actually keep all of the mags with these articles in a special pile. These articles are very useful. I review them everytime I create a new campaign. If you are a DM I highly recommend getting them any way you can.

This is one of the best posts I have read in a while. Thanks for the stories.

I rarely hit these message boards because of all the out right complaining that goes on. If you have constructive criticism, just state it, but quit the whining. The Paizo team is doing an excellent job. As James Jacobs stated, to para-phrase, even if you do not use the FR setting, there is still tons of info in these articels to slop down in any campaign setting. Let's be creative people, that's what D&D is all about anyway. Also, these personal attacks, not to name names, really needs to stop!

Paizo team, Thank you for 2 excellent, if not always perfect, magazines.

But then who is perfect?

Thanks again!

We need to give our "Dungeon" team a rest. The magazine has made huge leaps and bounds in the past year. These guys are putting their heart and soul and countless hours into this magazine. I give props to the whole team over at Paizo. Though, the magazine is not always perfect, they put every effort imanginable in creating a monthly masterpiece. A year ago I almost let my subscription lapse, now I look forward to Dungeon even more than I do Dragon (although, also quite excellent). We really need to be grateful for how hard these guys and gals work over at Paizo. Constructive criticism is one thing because there is always room for improvement, but the out-right complaining, just to complain, really needs to stop.

There are also many inconsistencies with the "Temple Organization" block regarding room #'s compared to the actual map. Hopefully this will be corrected if they create a hard cover for the AoW.
