I was wondering the same thing, I am supposed to start a game the beginning of October and was really hoping to use d20 Pro for it. Though some of the early Wilderness encounters might not be too big of a deal to do with out the official files ...

Any updates on the HeroLab encounter files and/or d20Pro map files? Near completion? Still a ways off? Don't hold your breath?

The Creeping Rot was a great choice, I gave it 5 stars!

Done and Done! Awesome!

Thanks Chuck, I really appreciate it!

Here's a place to start, Undeadlord. I've gleaned all of this from the Legal Appendix which doesn't really include the unique templated creatures from RA, but does include the templates that were used. (A good example of this would be the Phase Minotaur King).

I put it behind a spoiler to keep the post short. :)

Is text size optimized as well? Thats one I always notice on PDF's on my iPad, that the text (which would be fine on a larger screen, or could be enlarged without too much trouble) is always too small to really read comfortably on the iPad.

I always find myself zooming in and out just to look at something. One thing I like about the .ePub for books, is that with a click on ereaders you can change all the text size.

I haven't had a chance to see the difference, but just the idea of having a tablet-optimized PDF added in to the normal computer PDF is pretty awesome.

This is my first time seeing your merchandise, I obviously have been missing out. Love the 100% Crunch idea!

Just threw my $25 at it, I hope we can see a ePub format for it!

Yeah, at least two seperate products.

Excellent idea though, not all players have the Bestiary, and some would pass on the summoning spells just to avoid the trouble of having the DM look up the stats for them. (Happens in my group!)

Plus don't forget a set of summoning cards for us folks who have Augment Summoning as a feat :)

So if a creature is in one place as non-OGL content and then somewhere else as OGL content it is OK to use?

Yep, it is in the Field Folio, let me know if you need it converted, sadly its not OGL so we can't convert it and get it up on the Pathfinder SRD.

*cries like the Battle Newt he is*

I cannot believe I missed this battle ... *sigh*

I am definitely interested in this book.

I'm somewhat curious about your monster selection. It will be in the unique position of coming out between Bestiary I and II. While I don't mind if there is some overlap, what went into your monster selection process? Are you making sure that a good portion of the book is unlikely to become "invalid" in some customers minds when official versions come out in Paizo's BII?

Can you give us a hint as to what primary sources you'll be using? Will there be any original monsters? I'm guessing Tome of Horrors and the remainder of the SRD monsters are likely.

I think this is a great point as obviously a little overlap isn't too big of a deal, but I would think most people upon seeing 50 monsters in a 3PP book and those same 50 monsters in the Paizo Bestiary II are going to go for the "official" content.

I would guess you guys have that worked out, just like to hear that from you :)

lol- thanks John ^_^

Yup, I've volunteered to take point on the matter. I came onto the project about two weeks ago specifically because of a citation issue and volunteered to scrounge up some of the missing citations. As a result of seeing how much there is, I'm working on assembling everything I can and working with the contributors actually providing the content to make sure citations go smoothly. Part of the situation here with KQ is in a way my fault, as we were missing citations on KQ content and I wasn't certain of its legality as a result. There's a bit of a fervor on the contributor forums ATM about legality, but, as I've said here, as long as we can find or have those three items provided, we can validate the content and go about our merry way.
That said, I'm also a publisher (hence the interest in correct citations on a resource I plan on make extensive use of) and I run a B&M game store, so my time is split pretty well. SO, two weeks on the job between everything else, we're in the early stages of getting fully compliant. We will get there, and all of the content at a point in the near future will be fully vetted, so bear with us and lend a hand if you see something that doesn't seem appropriate ^_^

Well I really like your sight and what it stands for in terms of sharing the game with the community that supports it. Let me know if I can be of any help, I have some free time and would certainly be willing to donate it to helping out.

It almost sounds like you need someone at your site who is the OGL Guru as it were. Whose job it is to scour all the content you have there for the 3 things you mentioned every article needs. Plus if it doesn't have the correct permission, that said person would try and get them.

Do you have someone like that or is it just a job everyone tries to do little pieces of?

In my defense I was angry because the encounter with the rakasha didn't go quite the way it was described. It was more like this ...

"You see Atrius fall asleep after failing to disable the trap. Orsini turns and hits Tormod for 49 points of damage"

WAIT WHAT?????

Thats right, I never even had a chance :( It was very sad. Especially since I only had 37 hit points ...

I have to agree with the "make a character" party! :) My group did this and really seemed to help. As folks have mentioned, lots of people know rules but forget one little thing, that someone else will remember, etc.

Our group just met at the local coffee-shop one Saturday morning and hogged a big table for a few hours. Worked out really well and folks who were new the rules learned alot. Actually I think Paizo got 4 new customers after that meeting :)

Okay... so my searchfu revealed that although InDesign cannot be used to make fillable forms, it can be made so that acrobat auto recognizes the form slots. I had a friend via chat point out I wasn't looking in the right places for the align options, so that's one big plus, and the distribute evenly works as well. The update will be available in a few hours v1.25.10. :D

Sweet!

Hey all .. I know I am such an idiot sometimes, but I bought the bundle yesterday and I can't figure out how to download it? They sent me an email with a coupon code, but then I guess I am supposed to "repurchase" the bundle with that code? I did that and it looks like I just paid $20 for it again!

I guess everyone is having better luck at this than me ...

I just purchased Vol. 1, 2 and 3 plus the Spellcaster Feats. Loving it all so far.

My DM once told me of a Sorcerer he had in game who loved wands, so he had commissioned a Wand Bandoleer with the DM's help that basically functioned as a Handy Haversack for wands. Any wand could be drawn as a Free Action, I thought that was a pretty badass idea :)

Okay, so, good news, bad news, I tried adding property lines to the summary pages, but even at elimination of 3 ammo slots, this wouldn't work without losing a weapon slot on the landscape page or a major redesign. What I came up with is this - I'm gonna redo the weapon slots on the add-up sheet. In the redo I'm dropping the intellegence bars as they will be available on a half/full sheet. In it's place there will be room for details. On the summary sheet there is enough room in the name slot I believe for +1 holy longsword, but not +1 shock/fire/ice large greataxe. Unfortuately, abbrevation would be needed and the details can go on the readily available add-page. There's only so much that can fit without going smaller, and I think it's as small as it should get already. Is this fix going to fulfill your needs?

I know I mentioned an update in a week, but I think due to the page 59-60 issue, and immediate update will be sent tomorrow sometime. Hopefully I've have the file finished shrinking on the first update. Still going to have an update a week from now as well (have to finish intellegent item before then). Version #s reflect the date...

How do we get the new updates? Is it just a re-download from RPGNow?

By the way, here's the link so the new cards with the previews. The preview always squishes landscape, but you get the idea. I print tested these with 4x6 cards and US Letter sheets. The double printing always works best when you flip it width wise (skinny sides). If anybody has used this let me know... :D

These looks awesome, I am really looking forward to the Summon Creature with Augmented Summoning built in. You were gonna do those on 4x6 or 5x7 cards too right?

I don't think $9.99 a sheet will make you rich :) but I do understand your point. I think an auto-calcing sheet should have a new price. Heck, if I were you, seeing what I have seen from The Only Sheet and other for-sale sheets, I would get the fillable & auto-calcing sheet ready. Then give away the original sheet for free. You hook people with the awesome design and flexibility of your sheet and get your name spread far and wide. Then you KNOW people will want the fancy new sheets that do it all and they are willing to pay 10 bucks to get them because they know exactly what they are getting.

I think splitting the A4/US Letter is a good idea. You do a great job bookmarking the PDF's to make them easy to find, but the A4 stuff is gone for me and all I am looking at is the US Letter then my life is just that much easier.

Thats my armchair CEO :) I think you have a great product and looking forward to it improving and maturing.

Pros:

1.) Really a ton of info here, I mean right now its 75 pages long, so thats alot of formats and ways to setup your own perfect sheet portfolio. Thats a real bonus.

2.) Free updates and upgrades ... can't beat that.

3.) A creator who is vocal and looks for feedback. Thats very important to me as a gamer.

Cons:

1.) I didn't realize, and I am sure its my own fault for not reading closely enough, that all this PDF work was also for the basic fact that the lines and boxes would be fillable. They don't appear to be and honestly thats a real letdown. My handwriting, especially that small is horrible. These are unusable to me for now until and if an update ever comes out that allows all the boxes and lines to be fillable in PDF form.

2.) Price $4.99??? You are cheating yourself :) Charge more ... not alot more, but I would have paid $9.99 (for fillable boxes and lines and updates for the foreseeable future) I know that sounds silly, but there is some truth to the idea that people think cheap = bad and expensive = good. I would revised your RPGnow ad and really tried to show off the product more in the text. I had no idea from the RPGnow text that the PDF was 75 pages and included all this ...

3.) Did I mention the boxes and lines aren't fillable? :)

Does the purchase price include lifetime updates? I saw something about the subscription list, so I figured some updates were included, just wasn't sure exactly what that meant.

Psionics are not scifi. Many psychics(Nostradamus as an example) would be considered psionics in some form. Nova is also not an issue. These issues were proven in another thread. That is all I will say on the issue here.

Yep I didn't say there were, just alittle too close to it for my tastes.

Thanks for your input Undeadlord! I have a really great mount/animal compainion sheet, which is a half page and could be used for this. However, I've been working on a set of summon cards (printable on index cards), and I could include a blank card as a sample for the summons reference cards. I think the index cards are the better way to go with summon monster or natures ally. The summon cards will include summons modified by augmented summoning as well. Does this sound good to you?

Right now I'm wrapping up the adventure log/journal portion. I'm hoping to have this up for sale tomorrow, but there are other factors I have to include that I have no control over.

Yes I definitely like the idea of the index cards for printing and the augmented summoning is perfect.

Do you have a price point in mind for this sheet?

I like the idea of having the breakdowns of AC, CMD,CMB, etc nearby, whether its on the back or right there. I like to know what went into making up those values, cause I am really good at forgetting them :)

I also second the pictures or locked copies or something that people could see and get an idea about what you are talking about.

Questions:

How many containers do you use in a game?
How many tools or kits do you use in a game?

I'm thinking that usually I use a haversack, a bag of holding, and a quiver of convenience.

Another honorable mention, these sheets should be fully compatible with the six APG classes.

I know for myself, I just usually have a backpack and a pouch. Once I reach alittle higher level its the Handy Haversack or the Bag of holding for me. Makes life so much easier.

If its possible to say add a Bag of Holding into your gear and have the sheet then make the Bag a place to put new gear into. Keeping track of its weight and such? Just an idea.

I certainly would pay for a good sheet, I have spent maybe $50 this year on different software and sheets. I still can't find the perfect one :) I am currently writing a VB tool for myself to use during play. I am always willing to try something new though!

Well, to be perfectly honest, I'm trying to decide if the sheets in the inventory should have 2 or 3 container slots. The trade off is room for extra tool/kit slots. There is regular inventory still, but the organization of inventory and containers is something I've always wanted to see a little better.

I think I've noticed in game that there are only two containers players use:
The haversack to get quick items like scrolls, potions, and wands,
and the bag of holding for everything else.

You helped me with my question because I think that usuallywhen the bag of holding isn't enough, the PC upgrades or drops the least expensive loot. Thanks for the feedback!

My pleasure, really looking forward to this, especially the landscape booklet version .. willing to beta test if you are still looking for help in that area.

So over the course of the past couple of months, I came up with a few Metamagic feats - each one adds a secondary effect to a hit point damage spell.

Burning Spell: When a Fire spell deals damage, target must make a Reflex save, or else catch on fire.
Shocking Spell: When an Electricity spell deals damage, target must make a Fortitude save, or else become Stunned for one round.
Corrosive Spell: When an Acid spell deals damage, target must make a Fortitude save, or else start to take continuous Acid damage.
Freezing Spell: When a Cold spell deals damage, target must make a Reflex save, or gain the Entangled condition, being frozen in place.

I thought this would be really useful to elemental specialists (like Elemental and Draconic bloodline sorcerers), as well as giving the different damage types some utility - as it stands, there's not much difference between being hit with an ice ball than there is from a fire ball, mechanics-wise.

I like this idea, I hate the idea that I can throw a huge acid bath over someone and it causes damage and then somehow fades away, same with fireballs and electricity. I like that those real world items created by magic could have real world affects.

Thanks!

Tormod is only bloodthirsty because he knows if he isn't the bad guys will just dimension door away and then we will have to deal with them at some other point in time.

Its working really well so far, thanks for the fix! I really like the layout here. One quick question ..

I don't have any ranks in Acrobatics, so I only get my Dex bonus and I can use it untrained. However on the Page 1 of the printout section of your sheet, you show a -- in the Total section for all the skills I don't have ranks in, but that I can use untrained. I can see the +2 Dex mod on the right of that section, but under total it shows me a --

Would seem like under total it should just read +2 as well. Makes it so I only need to look in one row for all the data I need.

Also just a note to my post above, choosing the Air element works fine, all the others for me break the calculations.

Thanks.

I did some more testing, Windows 7, Office 2007 SP2, it looks like it happens on the Bloodline portion of Levels tab. I can choose a Bloodline fine, all the calculations stay the same, then when I choose the Earth elemental under Feature Selection thats when all the calculations goto N/A or ### (7th Level Sorcerer)

Tormod sees things pretty black and white. You are either a friend of his and his group and get treated well, or you are an enemy and Tormod will happily shove a spear through your throat. He feels like he will burst most of the time if he isn’t talking, casting spells or bluffing his way into situations no Gnome should be in.

Tormod right now is counting himself very lucky. After joining this group via a favor owed to Cressida, due to some “misunderstandings” about the law here in Korvosa, Tormod is feeling like he has found a group of friends that he can not only depend on, but hopefully in some ways are coming to depend on him.

While Tormod certainly is beginning to care about the town of Korvosa on a new level, he mostly sees his duties and interests lying in with his group. If they left the town and wanted him to come he would drop everything here happily and follow along. Now due to the insane events with the Queen and the death of that nice gentleman that Elam seemed to like, it seems the group will be heading in a new direction and that’s just fine with him.

He is very happy to let Elam lead the group for the most part and only pushes his way to the front when he has something he feels he has to say or can do something as a Gnome no human would expect a Gnome to be able to do. Jim seems to be a kindred soul, if a little quiet, in that he enjoys the joy of combat and doesn’t seem to be too horribly upset if I accidentally let him drink some poison. Muli makes him laugh quite a bit, as he seems very young and immature, but Tormod can’t doubt his skill with a blade, so is very happy to have him around. Atrius is the only member of group Tormod can’t quite put his finger on, but he saw how deadly Atrius was with that rapier recently, so Tormod has decided not to lay any fingers anywhere near him.

Tormod isn’t sure what exactly our next step is, but he is sure Elam does and he is happy to follow along blasting and stabbing his way through things, making sure no one messes with his friends.

There! I have an avatar now! Not the one I went on the net and found, but thats ok, I probably would have offended someone with it anyway.

I am glad someone likes him, he usually just sits in the stick room all alone, maybe a visit from Jim ... oh so lonely.

Tormod here ...

1) I am NOT homicidal! I just figure that as a gnome if someone is gonna start a fight, I am gonna end and make sure they stay down! Also from now on, NO ONE gets taken to jail. A spear to the throat ends all chances that I may see them again, atleast in non-zombie form.

2) I have always wanted my own Shoanti! Jim you are welcome to follow me around all the time and I promise we will always have fun situations to bash and lightning bolt our way out of.

3) Also new note, never send your earth elemental threw a wall and tell it to attack anyone it finds ... Those patients were probably going to die anyway.

Tormod
