Thanks for the kind words, Ithuriel. After a 20-year wait, I finally got to see Iron Maiden in concert last night. Went in with low expectations, as the last few metal concerts I went to left me feeling "meh... I'm getting too old for this (and so are some of the bands!)" But let me tell you, alot of bands (from all genres) could learn a thing or two about showmanship, energy and charisma from these guys. I was impressed. I'd put the show up there (just after U2's Popmart tour) as one of the best I've ever seen. Any other Maiden fans in our group? Hey Moth, I forgot to get my spell selection approved (see profile). Spoiler for Mothman: Spoiler:
IIRC, you don't have the Spell Compendium, and one of the spells I have selected is from that book. Here is the description for the spell Light of Lunia, which has the descriptors "Evocation [Good, Light]:
Lvl: Cleric 1 (among other classes)
The silvery radiance created by this spell emanates from you in a 30-foot radius, and dim light extends for an additional 30 feet. Beginning one turn after you cast this spell, you can choose to expend some or all of the Light of Lunia as a ray of light. You must succeed on a ranged touch attack with the ray to strike a target. You can make a single ranged touch attack that deals 1d6 points of damage, or 2d6 points of damage against undead or evil outsiders, with a range of 30 feet. Spell resistance applies to this attack. This dims your silvery radiance to half (15-foot light, with dim light for an additional 15 feet). You can choose to fire one additional ray with the same characteristics eiter on the same round or on a subsequent round. Firing the second ray quenches your radiance and ends the spell. Now, of course Andolphas and Wee Jas are LN, not good, but my understanding is that this does not pose a problem (i.e., Andolphas's alignment is not in opposition to the "good" spell descriptor. Also, I thought that given Wee Jas's role as Guardian of the Dead, and her abhorence for undead, then this would make an appropriate spell for one of her clerics. If anything, I would consider changing the name and source of the spell (Lunia, the first layer of the Seven Mounting Heavens of Celestia), to something more appropriate for a cleric of Wee Jas... Your thoughts? Would Wee Jas grant Andolphas such a spell, IYO? Please accept my apologies for my slow posting lately, folks... I've had internet connection problems at home since last week (finally fixed), and I'm busy planning our agency's AGM, which is scheduled for this Thursday... And a heads up - I will probably be away from May 17-19. Sorry for the inconvenience! I'll hopefully be able to post more regularly starting next week... Agreed... and I'm flattered that you think so highly of Harlon as a character. I quite enjoyed playing his multiple personalities syndrome... And there was also some good potential for developing the refugee backgrounds of both Harlon and Shamus.Moth, if ever Keildrithe (or Andolphas) dies, you know who I'm going to want to bring into the picture... ;-) Jonventus wrote:
He had the Improved Binding feat, which enabled him to bind a vestige of one level higher than the normal maximum. And yes, Harlon's strong feelings towards Rend would have been temporary in nature...:-) Jonventus wrote: TwiceBorn, do you have Harlon's binder info (vestiges etc) posted somewhere? I didn't see it on your character profile... Harlon only called on one vestige at this point. I think the description of Malphas the Turnfeather can be found in one of the spoilers in the discussion thread. Don't really have time to hunt for it this week, but maybe next, if you haven't found it by then... Hey Moth, Truth is, I'll be tied up most of this week as well, probably until Monday. I'm inheriting the position of Director of the organization I work for (while my boss goes on mat leave), have alot of transition stuff to take care of by day, home renovations to complete in the evening (need to be done by Saturday evening), and I've promised my girlfriend my undivided attention on Sunday... So if you need to NPC Keildrithe, please feel free to do so... I'm happy to go straight for the fair, leaving excess gear with Kajetan... Thanks for your understanding, everyone... Jonventus wrote:
Wow, that's a great honour, Jon. Of course, you can import Harlon Happytoes into your game. Source material for the binder class is WotC's Tome of Magic. I really hope I have an opportunity to use him again, someday... he didn't get far, level-wise, but he's one of the most distinctive characters I've ever created. Hey Jon, Glad to have you aboard, and to keep gaming with you. By the way, don't be overwhelmed by the year's worth of posts and background material we've accumulated. It would actually make sense if your character were not yet aware of what our PCs had lived through and what their present goals are... And if I may say so, Mothman runs one of the best (the best?) PbP on these boards... the thread volume and posting frequency rate can testify to that, as does the fact that three of the original players are still deeply involved in the story. Cheers! Hey Mothman: Spoiler:
Part of me wonders if Joventus wouldn't fit better in this game. I don't know how you feel about taking on a fifth player, but he seems intent on continuing with the AoW (or at least Whispering Cairn), and his character is at a point in the adventure where he hasn't seen too much yet and where he could logically return to Diamond Lake and meet the party. Don't know how you feel about one character having already dealt with some of the cairn's preliminary threats, though. Just a thought... Rend wrote:
In hindsight, though... how far would you expect to get in this current arc? I think finishing the Whispering Cairn might be possible... but the whole AoW? Unlikely, unless the next DM made major modifications to the plot and the scenarios, or the group was exceptionally dedicated and somehow able to keep playing over a period of years. If we do find a substitute DM, I'm still in... Mothman also has another Whispering Cairn PbP happening, which is still in it's early phases... don't know if he could make room for you there, but it seems to me that if Rend returned to town, he might be able to join with that party... You would only need to make some relatively minor background changes. No worries, Sean, and thanks for your understanding and for having given us a great game while it lasted. Deciding to throw the towel in can be pretty tough, but sometimes, that's the best decision to make. No hard feelings at all, just happy that we have closure on this. Best wishes to you -- I hope that your life (and health) eventually resume the course you want them to -- and who knows? -- perhaps we'll cross paths again someday... Regrettably, I'll use Rend's pseudo-deadline as my own, as well. But, I remain cautiously optimistic that things can be worked out before then, as I also really want our game to continue. And, realistically speaking, perhaps we'll need to limit ourselves to completing "The Whispering Cairn" if we do carry on. Once we make it through that, we can decide if there's enough interest/commitment to pursue the next adventure in the AP... and let's face it, doing the entire AP in PbP format could take us a whole decade to complete, and I don't think we'll ever accomplish that (although it would be cool if we did)! If possible, I'd like the games to remain Sean's, as well. After all, he started them, and he is a very good DM. And while I do have both Rise of the Runelords and the entire AoW adventure path, and have on several occasions dreamed of starting my own PbP, I must confess that it would be pretty irresponsible for me to do so at this point in time. I'm currently playing in 4 PbPs, my work load is increasing exponentially these days (and will continue to do so, since it appears that I have a strong chance of filling in the Director's shoes at the agency where I work while the current Director goes on mat leave for a year), I've got home renovation projects on the go... and last, but certainly not least, I have a girlfriend whom I care dearly about! So I don't think I would have the time or energy to fill the DM's shoes at this moment, and for me to accept to do so would only result in disappointed players, a ragged DM (and possibly a less-than-happy girlfriend)... Hey Gary, just thought I should point this out... but posts that I have seen appear in Mothman's Age of Darkness PbP have been vanishing (mine included)... anyway to fix that and restore the lost posts? I'm assuming this is happening on other threads, as well, and that it's related to the tech issues you discussed above, but...??? Rend wrote: I guess the other options would be to look for a new game or for the players to try and find a new DM to step in. These seem like drastic measures so I would like hear what Sean has to say before jumping to any conclusions. Thanks for your replies, Arctaris and Rend. Glad to see it isn't just me feeling this way (as a matter of fact, I just checked out Sean's Rise of the Runelords discussion thread, and there are some pretty disenchanted folks there as well... especially since it seems that our DM has made quite a few lengthy posts on non-PbP related threads in the past few weeks, yet no in-game contributions to his PbPs). But I agree with Rend... it would be great to hear from Sean before jumping to any conclusions. Sean, I sincerely hope that you're okay (healthwise, personally, etc.). Well everyone, I don't know what to say. As mentioned previously, I really enjoy my PC and the RPing with the other characters in the party, but it's disappointing to see that no one has posted to the in0game thread in the past week. Evidently, we all have busy lives, and we can't be faulted (quite the contrary) for giving higher priority to work, family, significant others, etc., than to a PbP game. That having been said, although I do not particularly want to drop out, I am seriously considering doing so because of the painfully slow pace of the game. The following comments may seem unduly harsh and aimed at a particular individual, and I don't mean for them to be hurtful or accusatory (problem with text-based on-line media, where tone and body language cannot be conveyed)... Given the slow pace of the game, I must admit that I am somewhat concerned that our DM is trying to run three PbP games at the same time, even though posting regularly to any one game seems to be a major challenge. To be honest, I only expect the posting frequency to decline in the future, despite assurances to the contrary. So I really don't know what to do... quit and move on? Try to work out some other kind of compromise (I really love the character I'm playing and would love to see him grow and accomplish great deeds, but...)? I apologize again if this post seems harsh, that isn't the intention... but I must admit that I am becoming quite frustrated with the situation... Believe it or not, I'm very busy too (with work and preparing for a possible promotion in the very near future, with my significant other, with home renovation projects, etc.), so it's not like I can't relate. But I do believe that we must be honest with each other, and if some of us have got too much on our plates, then something's got to give... and if that happens to be this PbP, then so be it... but making a firm decision and being able to stand by it is a necessity, if only for the sake of being respectful towards the others involved in the game. I DO appreciate that the DM has given us a wonderful game thus far... I DO appreciate the effort that my fellow players have made to bring this game to life... I DO appreciate that other things in life are far more important than a PbP... so please tell me... am I the only one who feels this way? Am I over-reacting? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration... Mothman wrote:

I ended up taking Infernal. Thanks! Good luck, Utak, and best wishes. I wish you and your mother well -- you've evidently got a good heart, and she's fortunate to have as caring a son as you. I don't envy the load you have on your plate right now, but I'm sure that you'll be able to make things work out. It was great gaming with you -- both here and in Erian's Glen. Hopefully we'll see you again sometime... Hey Sean, after careful consideration, I've decided to withdraw my name from this one... thanks for giving me the chance to play, though. Finding the time to post consistently as a player in four PbPs is challenging enough, so I don't think it would be wise of me to take on a 5th, though it breaks my heart to bow out of Pharoahs... I can't imagine what it must take to be a DM for three PbPs simultaneously...
