That's why I mentioned them! :)
The softcover is still available on the secondary market, and there seems to be a wiki of the OGL rules too.

Maybe put a few restrictions and minimums to make people be a little more rounded.

Linkified.
Okay, so are these NPCs of yours the ones being used? Are these people you're talking about bashing hand-generated NPCs, or the standard ones that show up in modules and bestiaries? How do they compare to each other, and to non-humanoid NPCs?
No, there isn't. There may be a fan-made conversion of the UA rules somewhere.

If someone asks you a question during the game and you fail your Knowledge roll you don't know it. So PCs know nothing at game start? Because they have to roll knowledge checks before they can know anything?
Shallowsoul, how much do PCs know at game start?
What if the player the OP is talking about starts lording his knowledge checks over the rest of the party?
Knowing the people who use the 3-20 rule, I would not doubt they would happily adopt the 3-1 rule if they heard of it.
Hajime Saito, the Wolf of Mibu. Badass.
Actually, now that I think about it, the May PF games got canceled due to the DM moving houses. So the 27th should be open.
Most people don't confirm 1s, so it rarely comes up.
Deadman, what's the total cost on that fighter's gear? Eyeballing it, it looks like it might be a little over NPC wealth.
Orthos wrote: TriOmegaZero wrote: I recommend Rebuild of Eva if TTGL grabbed you and original Eva didn't. Might look into that. Is Shinji less whiny? If not that's a dealbreaker. He has apparently been hanging around Simon, as he goes beyond the impossible in the second movie. If you could put up with Simon's whiny phase, you won't have a problem with Rebuild Shinji.
This ruling means two equal level wizards cannot talk about spells they do not know. Each has to explain to each other all the spells he knows that the other does not, and they can not discuss spells neither of them know.
I recommend Rebuild of Eva if TTGL grabbed you and original Eva didn't.
shallowsoul wrote: TriOmegaZero wrote: The vendor told him so. Ding ding ding!!!! Now that would be a legitimate reason. If you approach a vender and he tells you he has a scroll of Color Spray then you have gained the knowledge through interaction with the game.
DM: "You approach a vendor of scrolls"
Wizard Player: "Could I see what scrolls you have available?"
DM Vendor: "Of course, I have scrolls of Color Spray and Shield available for purchase."
What about:
Wizard Player: "Have you any scrolls of magic I can use to incapacitate my enemies?"
Would you consider that metagaming?
The vendor told him so.
Don't worry BP, it was a short one.

No. We are now at 8th level.
Everyone else has purchased ranks 1/1.
This character has spent 8 skill points in Kn (any), and has 8+3+ Int mod in all Kn skills.
He needs to let every other player do this too then.
Is this all he's allowed? Will he have to start buying them individually if he wants more of a bonus than 4+Int mod?
If he just wants to have a smattering of all knowledges rather than deep knowledge, I don't see a problem.
If he thinks this is how the rules actually work, he's wrong.
It's been the monkey the entire time.
Banhammering.
Battle?

Last call!
Are we there yet?
Y'all been busy.
I'm looking at taking the 16th through the 23rd off, so if some other day sounds good let me know. He's only in town between those dates.
The 27th is my Austin PF game, so that's a no-go.

Dotted.
1. No. If he can just do it, it's not impressive. If he can tell me how it too him years of practice and work to learn or develop the abilities, then I may be impressed.
2. No. I will not harm an animal, least of all on some flimsy promise.
3. Hitler's skull. I already have enough work with a cat and dog. I don't need a turtle.
shallowsoul wrote: You've already been given a factual answer, now what you do with it is up to you. You've given me nothing but cryptic phrases about metagaming.
I don't want discussion, I want a straight answer.
Do characters in your game know nothing but what they learn in-game during sessions?
shallowsoul wrote:
Metagaming is metagaming no matter how you want to spin it.
You're telling me that two wizards of equal level must ask each other to list the spells in their spellbook, because a wizard would be metagaming if he asked 'Have you learned Prismatic Spray?' when he himself has not learned the spell?
shallowsoul wrote: TriOmegaZero wrote: How does he learn about his new spell levels? Well the 2 spells per level is not an excuse to use metamagaming when it comes to the Knowledge skills. Even though you may be taking Wish when you hit 17th level you can't use that future knowledge to help you in any way. You are actually granted the knowledge of that spell the moment you hit 17th and you take it as one of your spells. It's a bad rule unfortunately but it is RAW. So, despite the fact that spellcasters can cast spells from scrolls that they do not have the spell slots to prepare yet, they can't actually KNOW these spells exist? A 5th level Druid is not allowed to ask around for a scroll of Regeneration just because he doesn't have 7th level spell slots yet?
Or worse, are you claiming a 1st level Wizard is not allowed to ask his colleague about 1st level spells he doesn't have?
My copy of the Beta rules is one of the few PF books I'm keeping.
I think this spell discussion needs a new thread, as it is far offtopic here.
I'm just imagining a wide-eyed wizard looking at the loremaster incredulously and saying 'You mean there's a SECOND circle of magic?'
And then doing that for each level of spells afterwards.
'Just how many circles of magic ARE there?'
How does he learn about his new spell levels?
Bust someone out of an asylum A-Team style!
How did work ever get done?
Well, other than higher level spellcasters, magical lore about the spells of the archmages, evidence of artifact-level magic in the world...
It's not like the spellcaster studies these things, or has a skill check he can roll to see if he HAS heard of higher level spells than he can cast.
Wait, so you can punt him all day long to no ill effect, and you choose to give up this power?
What's an infinite hole, and is it core?
Mort the Cleverly Named wrote: The only non-spellcasting use of a Concentration check of which I am aware is "The Rheumy Refrain" masterpiece from Blood of Fiends. It forces victims to make a Concentration check if they do anything more than move or attack once in a round.
However, I think this is a rules error. There are no rules for how a non-spellcaster would make such a check, as it is caster level + prime casting attribute, neither or which a non-caster has.
Indeed, it sounds like this should have been a saving throw instead.
So I take it there are next to no situations where a character makes a Concentration check beside spellcasting.
Provided the monk can get off 20 attacks, which isn't a certainty.
