We are thinking about starting a social network about speculative fiction.
This would be a network where amateur and pro writers could receive constructive critique on their works.

How popular do you think this would be?

I'm trying to gauge membership so we can determine if this is something worthwhile to pursue.

Since we've hosted some content for Paizo fans on our website we feel we should let you know that we are shutting down the DDC website.

We still receive quite a bit of traffic from referrals from Paizo's messageboards but because of time constraints of all individuals involved we can't devote the time and energy needed to maintain the podcast and the site.

We appreciate all the feedback we've received as well as our fans, and hey who knows what the future holds.

All content that was being hosted on DigitalDungeonCast will be unavailable in the coming weeks.

While reading Heart of the Jungle I noticed something about the stat blocks that I didn't recognize. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.

This is the section that I'm not familiar with:

Corruption +4; Crime +4; Economy +5; Law –6; Lore +3, Society +0
Qualities notorious, prosperous, strategic location,
Danger +15

What book describes this part of the stat block..

So I was thinking of a race that is known for its seers and divination that is blind but can see through the use of magic.

What would this race's society be like?

For example how would their language, written and or oral develop?

What about cultural appearance?

What are your thoughts?

Here's the general plot of an adventure I'm trying to write, however Im having a hard time resolving one aspect of the adventure.

The PCs are asked for their help by an NPC that has heard of their recent exploits. The NPCs town for generations has been plagued by a monster that if not placated attacks the town. The only thing that placates this beast is delivering young to its lair to devour.

Every month the townsfolk have a lottery that determines what children will be sacrificed to it during the year. The NPC's child has been chosen next.

There is a major twist concerning the monster, but my problem is this...

What would keep a population from just moving away?

Any thoughts?

So I'm not sure if I'm double posting this or not (board may have ate the previous post).

I have a number of wallpapers on my website that I created using images from the blog (I'm fairly certain that all of them are from the blog).
However some of these images have been altered using photoshop.

One wallpaper has a sepia tone background of the Golarion map.

Also some of the images have been cropped so that the image will work for both a 1280x800 as well as 1024x768. I believe that some of the images of the iconics have been resized and or cropped as well.

So would this violate the Community Use Policy?

I'd specifically like input from Vic but KaeYoss I'd like your input as well..

If it is in violation I will gladly remove them.

Here is a link to the wallpapers:

Any Thoughts?

I'm sure most of you know that it is that it is one of the holiest holidays of the year (second only to Eric Mona Day!)

So go out and do something nice for your GM. Afterall he hasn't killed your character (much).

Also it is a sad reminder that on this day the Father of D&D passed away.
So bow your heads in a moment of silence to remember E. Gary Gygax.

So I've seen this Flash Ad on several websites and it got me thinking about creating an ad for Second Darkness. The ad wouldn't be to generate click-through revenue but to drive traffic to Paizo.com.

What would Paizo's policy concerning this be?

Just got this in... sure we'll see something official soon!
Great job guys and keep up the awesome work.

Paizo Publishing Tops 25,000 Downloads of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Alpha

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Beta book to be released at Gen Con

July 28, 2008 (BELLEVUE, Wash.) – Paizo announced today that unique downloads of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Alpha PDF had topped 25,000.

"When we announced our intentions to stick with the 3.5 rules via the Open Game License, many internet pundits declared us fools for not going with the flow of the new 4th edition," said Paizo's Publisher, Erik Mona. "The 25,000 individual download threshold suggests to me that we were right to identify a stable audience for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, and the response to our Open Playtest has been nothing short of phenomenal."

The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game is a complete, standalone fantasy RPG that will be released as a massive hardcover book at Gen Con in 2009. Published under the 3.5 Open Game License, the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game updates the 3.5 edition of the world’s most popular roleplaying game by adding new rules, new features, and correcting common game play complaints while also staying backward compatible to the 3.5 rules.

Last April, Paizo launched the hobby gaming industry’s first wide-scale, completely open playtest of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Alpha rules and has released a total of three Alpha PDFs as free downloads on paizo.com. Next month, at Gen Con, Paizo will launch the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Beta which represents the final, 10-month long open playtest of the rules system. The Beta will be available as a free PDF download on paizo.com as well as a 408-page, full-color, soft-cover book for $24.99.

This really isn't a RPG but I didn't know exactly where this belonged so I figured here was as close. If anyone is on MySpace you should check out the MySpace App game Pirates. Its pretty much an RTS but it is deceptively addictive. So I figured I'd try spreading the addiction elsewhere.

You can download the application HERE

While your at it you can join my crew and I'll join yours.

So I've been reading Crucible of Chaos and was thinking that this would make a pretty cool pulp adventure. I don't want to add any spoilers about the adventure

Wolfgang Baur did a pretty good job.

What's your thoughts?

Here's my latest wallpaper... I'm thinking about doing a series of these what do you think?
I'm not sure I like the color of the leather texture.

You can also see the other iconic wallpapers here.

Recently my players have shown some interest in running some games where all the PCs are evil. Now while I'm not opposed to this, my idea of games involve heroic PCs. So I really don't have any experience with running this type of game.

Anyone have any experience (with some success) in running this type of campaign?

I'm curious as to what adventures people are using to playtest.
Are you running Gamemaster Modules, Pathfinder APs or just writing your own material.

Unfortunately due to work and life I've found I don't have a whole lot of time to write my own adventures.

Just curious

My group is still working on RotRL (Skinsaw Murders) so I thought I'd take the time to see if anyone is planning on running CotCT using the Alpha rules of the Pathfinder RPG.

I'm using the Turn-Undead rules right now.. but I don't want to incorporate too much cause of having to revamp the characters.. also I have a Druid, Ranger & Sorcerer in the party...However I'm really jonesing to start using the Pathfinder RPG. :)

A lot of what I've been reading is GenCon focused. Not that Indianapolis is all that far from Columbus, but ORIGINS in the past has been my con of choice due to scheduling conflicts.

I'd love to run Pathfinder games at Origins... just let me know what you need..

So is there a product shipping schedule for Curse of the Crimson Throne yet?
Should we expect Volume 7 late Feb ?

Trent

Does the Gamemastery subscription come with the PDF download or do you have to buy seperately?

Here's an idea for those people who are on more of a budget when it comes to figs/miniatures.

Making Memories has 1-inch Page Pebbles that are designed for scrapbooking (Don't ask how I found them). They are circular and have an adhesive back to them. I bought a pack of 8 for $2.00.

These are great for creating Tokens to represent medium creatures, characters, etc.

You can use the dealer locator (CLICK HERE) on their website to find one near you. I looked for them on their website and couldn't find the specific ones I used though (Item# 22737 - Circle XL)

Is anything going to be detailed what lies within the Irespan?
Having read the sidebar, I thought this would make a great locale for a massive dungeon. While the law forbids tampering with the monument, that probably wouldn't stop stupid..err... Heroic adventurers from trying to figure out what the secrets the Irespan holds.

Ok I've got a quick question about the human ethnicities.

In the Sandpoint Section of RotRAP Chapter 1 it oftens says if someone is Shoanti or Varisian, however what if it doesn't mention their ethnicity.. do we assume this means they are of mixed Chelish descent?
