I print to a DesignJet (60" wide color ink), and the stuff I design turns out just like I see it on screen, so I am not really interested in messing with my setting (besides, it cost me a pretty penny to have it professionally calibrated).
Wow I can see why... I wouldn't mess with the calibration and settings either.. If it comes out darker than what the printed AP shows I'd be concerned.
Course it could be the pieces are just really dark. ;)
I can honestly say that I've read 99% of everything I own. Most of it I read cover to cover but on some occassions I skipped around.
One of these days I'll get around to cataloging all the sourcebooks, and boxsets I own.

Getting rid of WEG Star Wars books should be a crime!
I agree... I have quite a few of these..

The Deadlands d20 line...all those books bought and shelved.
You should have bought Deadlands Classic.. IMHO taking Deadlands and coverting it to D20 is like taking every Clint Eastwood western and remaking it with Corey Haim. Call me a purist but part of what is awesome about Deadlands is how the system and the setting compliment each other.
(I also own & read everything Deadlands Classic..)
It will be interesting to see how these pics come across once printed in your products though (could be just fine and just wouldn't print nicely on my printer).
Do you have a four color photo quality printer?
While I don't have an awesome printer, everything I've printed turned out really good. You might want to check your printer settings and check what "quality" its setup as default.
So your spell list is 10 thousand years old, you haven't been running around the outside world and your origins are tied to the one of the greatest magical empires in history...and it is the same as any run of the mill spell list...
Rather than increasing the spell list, I'm planning on swapping out some of the craft feats for a few feats that would make the player's life miserable. Two feats that I'm thinking of are the Bounce Spell and Braid Spell from AEG's book FEATS. I think these feats are a bit unbalanced, but its something that I can give a 10,000 year old spellcaster that won't fall into my player's hands.
I also gave the cultists an additional level of rogue, to give them an actual attack bonus, more HP, and evasion. I used "stuck in the middle with you" for battle music, when they pull out their war-razors....
How very Reservoir Dogs of you.. don't suppose any of the cultists doused the PCs with lamp oil :)
Since the start of Skinsaw is 1 week after the PCs met Aldern I have a timeline question. The PCs didn't take Aldern up on his boar hunt, so I had him leave Sandpoint to go to his Manor.
3 days after the Goblin raid the PCs left for Thistletop.
It took them 1 day to get there (they encountered an Owlbear that cleaned their clock). They were there 2 days, and it will take them 1 day to get back. That's a total of 7 days.
Should they be out of town when the Sawmill murders occur? Or should I give them a few days breather and then they are approached by the Sheriff concerning the murders?
Oh and they didn' explore the Catacombs of Wrath...
Mostly because I have enough on my plate without having to assemble and paint miniatures... was the idea of pre-painted plastic miniatures thought about or would that violate something Wizards has tried to trademark?
When I was describing E9: Transmutation Room, the PCs got the chilling sense that this room was for torturing victims. So when the Rogue of the party searched the room he found a secret "closet" that held several vials of strange liquids, scrolls and a wand. The scrolls were cure light wound spells, and the wand was a Wand of Revivy (Spell Compendium).
I thought it was a bit more sadistic. Imagine getting tortured to death and then being raised just so they could continue to torture you some more.
Well primarily I use a Megamat™ from Chessex and wet erase markers. I have made battlemaps before using Photoshop CS. I used D&D miniatures as well as tokens that I've created in Photoshop. I posted a while back about cheap way to make tokens. Click here for the post.
I think you're slightly confused. Bloodsworn Vale (from W1) has always been connected to Varisia.
Darkmoon Vale (from D0 and D1) is thousands of miles away.
It's the quick succession of vales, I think, that cause these sorts of misunderstandings.
I think this brings up an interesting idea concerning locations, their names, the confusion that may arise.
Imagine if you were an adventurer and you were told that the Crypt of Lotsaloot was located in the Vale of Blood. Now you go to a sage and he tells you where the Vale of Blood is. You set out on your perilous journey and arrive only to find out that the sage gave you directions to the Bloodsworn Vale.
After all, information can get easily confused in a society that has passed info down via word of mouth via bard songs, and recorded by sages, historians, etc that may not verify the information that has been given to them.
Here's an idea for those people who are on more of a budget when it comes to figs/miniatures.
Making Memories has 1-inch Page Pebbles that are designed for scrapbooking (Don't ask how I found them). They are circular and have an adhesive back to them. I bought a pack of 8 for $2.00.
These are great for creating Tokens to represent medium creatures, characters, etc.
You can use the dealer locator (CLICK HERE) on their website to find one near you. I looked for them on their website and couldn't find the specific ones I used though (Item# 22737 - Circle XL)
Is anything going to be detailed what lies within the Irespan?
Having read the sidebar, I thought this would make a great locale for a massive dungeon. While the law forbids tampering with the monument, that probably wouldn't stop stupid..err... Heroic adventurers from trying to figure out what the secrets the Irespan holds.
I'm pretty much running the game as is.. however I'm changing a few things that may or may not mean anything during the adventure.
Casp Avertin was married to Alma Avertin (not her son). Arika and Aneka are their daughters. Casp was having an affair with Kendra Deverin.
When Wade Deverin found out about Kendra/Casp affair he went out to pursuade Casp to end it. He never made it to the Avertin home because he met up with Chopper. Casp felt responsible for Wade's death, something that Gaven wouldn't let him forget. This along with the number of Choppers murders added to Casp's drinking problem. Chopper didn't kill Casp though.. Alma poisoned him when she learned of Casp's affair. Belor covered up the murder.
One of the town guards corned Chopper, wounding the murderer. Meanwhile Belor was dealing with Alma's crime. He decided to cover it up and told Kendra that it was Chopper who had killed the Sheriff.
If the PCs go talk to Arika or Aneka they have nothing but bad things to say about Kendra Deverin. They believe the cover-up, that it was Chopper who killed their father. They also think that his alcoholism was because of the affair, that if he didn't have the affair that Chopper wouldn't have killed him.
Aliver "Pillbug" Podiker knows that Alma killed Casp because he sold her the poison that same day.
Gaven has nothing but bad things to say about Casp. "Good thing Chopper did him in. Saved me from doing it"
Ok I've got a quick question about the human ethnicities.
In the Sandpoint Section of RotRAP Chapter 1 it oftens says if someone is Shoanti or Varisian, however what if it doesn't mention their ethnicity.. do we assume this means they are of mixed Chelish descent?
Hey just wanted to let everyone know that Episode 1 of DigitalDungeonCast is out
and it features an interview with Lisa Stevens, CEO of Paizo Publishing.
In the interview we discuss Pathfinder and what Paizo has coming up.
In addition you can find maps designed for Burnt Offerings by Erian_7 in our gallery section.
They're pretty small (each under 500 KB as I recall). Id' definitely appreciate the hosting, as my site is just the personal 10 MB I got with my DSL line a bazillion years ago...
I agree wholeheartedly with Christopher West. As a photoshop professional I can understand how important it is that copyright is maintained. Now that being said, Paizo (and other game companies for that matter) could release the maps clearly stating that the map is for personal use only. They could protect the PDF similarly to the modules as well. Keep in mind though that this does take time and resources.
I hope that Paizo does release the maps from Pathfinder / Gamemastery line
but I can understand if they don't.
If they OGL the maps, I could easily see other individuals and companies taking the maps from Paizo products, creating new adventures based on them, and then re-selling them (quite legally!) in direct competition with the original source.
Making unlabeled versions of the maps available for customers to use in their own games is a good plan, but actually making them open content would let others freely profit from artwork that Paizo had to pay for. (And art is the most expensive part of the whole process.)
I'd love there to be a peer review forum for cartography, and to talk on a professional level about what the fans want, and what does and doesn't work.
For those of you interested, I've decided to create just such a forum. The discussion group is RPG Cartography on YahooGroups.
Here is the URL: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/rpgcartography/
If only work would stop getting in the way we could all game to our heart's content. I was just curious about how often everyone would like get together with their game group. I think about twice a week would be perfect? Often enough to satiate but infrequent enough to keep it fresh. Any thoughts people?
In High School we used to play twice a week. Usually sometime during the week and then again on Saturday Night. The last weekend of summer we would get together for a 4 day RPG binge that would start at noon on Thursday. We'd go till about 2am, quit and play video games. We'd get up the next day around Noon and start the process over again until Sunday about 10pm. Those were great times of sleep deprevation and huge caffeine highs.
Now we play twice a month, the second and third Saturday of the month. I'd love to run/play more but our current gaming group probably couldn't handle it. Everyone has wives, careers, and kids that need to be appeased.
However they have told us that the maps are done by hand then they use Photo shop (or something like that) to edit the maps. So they can't take out traps and secret doors...
Being a Photoshop Professional...I can say with complete certainty that they can take out all markers. Whenever I'm doing a map all the location markings etc are all on one layer.
Its a simple matter of turning that layer "off", and voila no map markings.
Now that being said...the cartographers have to keep the file in photoshop format to preserve the layers. Once they save it as a JPG, TIFF, etc. it is all flattened into one layer.
