Darius Fornell joined the Army after to years in college. After another eight years, he'd risen to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CW2) in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) --known as SOAR(A)-- with expertise in military hardware, especially communication systems. Chief Fornell was serving as navigator on the X-95, a helo-craft testing an experimental "stealth" mode. On its initial run, the craft "cloaked", and vanished, phasing out of normal space. When it returned 30 seconds later, it was pitted and rusted. Only Darius survived, and he'd aged some 20 years. In the subsequent months, Chief Fornell began exhibiting mental powers: telekinesis and clairvoyance. He was transferred to a detached status six months later. He's joined the superheroes of the Vanguard of Liberty under the code-name Trailblazer, but he still maintains his contacts in the 160th, where his heroic identity is an Army secret.
