Congratulations Kevin Ingle, on getting his 5th star.

Kevin ran his 150 game on August 3 2014. He ran a special game before GenCon for a Thod when he arrived early before Gencon. Kevin is an outstanding GM he routinely commits to volunteer at local and regional cons. He really sets the example on what a 5 star GM is.

If you have attended GenCon, Origins, Egypt Wars, Flat Con, Who’s Yer Con, InConJunction. Likely you have had a chance to meet or played with him. I probably skipped a couple conventions. If you are a coordinator you will find Kevin one of the most professional GM’s that volunteers.

He is also a very fun GM to play with. I also consider him the best GM in Indiana. If you have a chance to play with him at a con, I would urge you to attend one of his games!

Also recently, he has been accepted into the VL ranks supporting the new card game.

Congrats Kevin

So Gen-Con is coming right up. So I would like to just offer some advice.

This year will be the busiest year more so than any other year. Expect record attendance as well as added space this year.

For the record attendance expect longer lines everywhere. Expect more food trucks on Georgia Street. (My favorite is a Pork Chop Sandwich and a Velvet Cupcake from 2 different trucks).

Couple things I would recommend.

Don't loose your badge, I have personally done this twice. Both times the Companies HQ held on to it for me. I was very lucky both times.

Shower every morning (has to be said), dedicate yourself to at least one good meal a day. Skip fast food like McDonald;s, Subway and Steak and Shake. They usually are extremely busy. Consider some of the area’s dining-in restaurant’s or just trying something different. You may like whatever fast food, try something different.

Drink plenty of water, have some sort of back-up snacks as well as aspirin.

If you have a vehicle at the Convention, consider packing a cooler with some food. It is almost always faster to walk to a car and get food than getting food at or around the Convention. Also if you do bring a cooler, it is always nice to give away some water soda or chips. Over the years, I have given out allot of water that big name Author on the New York Times best seller list, they don’t want to pay 5-6$ on a bottle of water. I have had allot of good conversations with some of my favorite Authors and Game Designers that have started with giving out a bottle of water.

Cosplay - be respectful of people in costume. If you want to take a photo be polite and ask, don’t photo bomb. Also if you are going to be wearing a costume, please consider wearing it only for one day or have some sort of laundry service available.

Be considerate of your GM, ask if they need anything, they are your volunteer’s. For ticketed events try to not waste tickets, if you are going to skip a game turn your ticket in for a refund that way someone else will at least have a chance to purchase a ticket for that game.

Also be kind to the Game Marshal’s they volunteer their time and have a stressful job, yelling at them or hurting their feelings helps no one.

If you wake-up late and think you may skip playing an event. I would recommend skipping it, relax drink some coffee and get a big breakfast.
There is allot of stuff going on at the Convention you simply can’t see everything. If you are crazy enough check-out some of the late/early morning stuff. Between midnight and 7 a.m. you can find a whole different Gen-Con.

I am sure others will have some good advice.

Black Waters

Saturday 8pm-12am

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1-5.
The Pathfinder Society seeks the ancient ruby ring of the salamander and it falls to a team of Pathfinders to find it. Last seen in the Tri-Towers Yard, a once elite academy for the youth of Absalom, the ruby ring is now lost in the Drownyard, all that remains of Tri-Towers after it was destroyed a decade ago in the great quake. The Pathfinders must risk the strange black ichors and salty brine to find their prize—will they risk their very souls as well?

Crypt of the Everflame

Friday 1pm-9pm

A Pathfinder Society Module designed for levels 1–2.
The young heroes of the town of Kassen are ready for their coming-of-age ceremony, an old tradition in which they retrieve a piece of the eternal flame burning in the tomb of the town’s founder. Yet when they arrive there, they find only the corpses of their fellow townsfolk, dead bandits, and mysterious animated skeletons. The novice heroes must brave the traps and perils of the Crypt of the Everflame, discover the source of the corruption that has awakened an ancient evil, and defeat a menace that seeks vengeance against Kassen and its people.

Day of the Demon

Friday 6pm-10pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3-7.
The Blakros family, long an ally of the Pathfinder Society, has come into possession of a manor house in the imperial nation of Cheliax, where a once prominent noble family was known to practice diabolism before the Age of Lost Omens. The Pathfinders' task is simple: clear the abandoned manor of any remaining threats before the Blakroses move in. Unfortunately, the estate hasn't sat empty as long as the Blakroses think it has, and its recent inhabitants were anything but the devil-worshipers who originally built the manor.

Destiny of Sands, Part 1, A Bitter Bargain

Friday 6pm-10pm, Sat 10am-2pm, Sunday 10am-10pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.
Amenopheus has learned that the legacy of the Jeweled Sages lies near the Osirian trade city of Eto, and the Pathfinder Society has pledged its support in the Sapphire Sage’s investigation of his ancient order; however the lead dried up—that was until a familiar information broker contacted Amenopheus offering an exchange of services. To assist an ally and unlock the secrets of Osirion’s past, the Society must deal with a deadly antagonist once more by sending the PCs to fulfill the bargain and collect its due. The only question is what price their foe will demand.

Destiny of Sands, Part 2, Race to Seeker’s Folly

Sat 3-7

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.
The Pathfinder Society has discovered the location of a powerful Osirian artifact secreted beneath the sands, but they are not the only ones who seek its power. The Pathfinders must endure the scalding Osirian desert, brave its inhabitants, and watch for hidden dangers if they are to survive. Can the PCs reach the ruins before their rivals claim the prize?

Destiny of Sands, Part 3, Sanctum of Sages

Sat 8pm-12am

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3–7.
Uncovering the secrets of a Jeweled Sage reveals that the others are in grave danger, and the PCs set off after notorious jewel thieves before the criminals can disappear with another priceless treasure. When the trail leads to the sages’ hidden sanctum deep within the Pillars of the Sun, the Pathfinders must draw upon both their own resourcefulness and the ancient historians’ power if they are to preserve a millennia-old organization and Osirion’s past.

Fangwood Keep

Sat 10am-6pm

A Pathfinder Society Module designed for levels 3-5.
Dire need begets great innovation, and Ghalcor, a cleric of Iomedae, created a revolutionary new weapon to fight the demons that poured out of the Worldwound at the end of the First Mendevian Crusade. Unfortunately, the fiends overwhelmed Ghalcor and his assistants before they could arm and trigger the weapon, but complex fail-safes sealed off Ghalcor’s tower and kept the device from falling into abyssal hands. As the Fifth Mendevian Crusade rages on, Ghalcor’s secret weapon could be the factor that turns the tide, so the Pathfinder Society has agreed to find a way past the indiscriminate safeguards to secure the device for the crusaders—a task complicated by their pushing past enemy lines.

Fate of the Fiend

Friday 6pm-10pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for level 7–11.
Years after the Pathfinder Society delved deep into the Jistkan ruins of Rachikan in western Cheliax, archaeological investigations continue to uncover ancient wonder. Reports recently ceased after scholars reported finding a sealed chamber believed to contain cadres of battle golems untouched since the Jistka Imperium’s collapse. The Pathfinder Society hopes to recover the golems for study and possible use in the Worldwound, but can its agents reach the sealed storeroom before the constructs fall into enemy hands?

Sewer Dragons of Absalom

Friday 1pm

Absalom is Golarion’s busiest and most populous city, but one of its largest populations goes largely unnoticed. You must venture into the sewers beneath the City at the Center of the World to stop the meddling dragons within from disrupting a vital Pathfinder Society operation.

Silent Tide

Friday 6pm-10pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1-5
When strange reports of misty undead spread through Absalom, you and your fellow Pathfinders are dispatched to the half-drowned district of Puddles. Notoriously rough, the drooling addicts, flesh panderers, and quick-handed knifers of Puddles are the least of your worries. The night's tide brings with it an ancient armada of some long-forgotten war and you are the only thing between their mist-shrouded ghost fleet and Absalom's utter oblivion.

The Blackrose Matrimony

Sunday 10am-2pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3-7
The eldest daughter of the prominent Blakros family is set to wed an influential Hellknight, and the Pathfinder Society is invited to the festivities. Dressed for a wedding befitting royalty, a team of Pathfinders attend the ceremony on behalf of the Decemvirate, but will their presence ultimately strengthen the Society's relationship with the influential Blakroses, or will events at the wedding bring the already tenuous alliance to a breaking point?

The Confirmation

Friday 1PM, Sat 3pm-7pm, Sunday 10-2pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1-2
Almost all Pathfinders undergo extensive training for three or more years to learn the tricks of the trade, and their last test before graduating from the ranks of the initiates to the status of a full Pathfinder agent is the Confirmation, a special research project that involves considerable fieldwork and is designed to simulate the initiates' future work as a Pathfinder. Even the noteworthy field commissioned agents sometimes participate in such trials as a way to familiarize themselves with the Pathfinder Society’s rules and expectations. Although Confirmation is typically an individual affair, the society recently discovered a site on the Isle of Kortos that would be perfect for initiates but perhaps too dangerous to handle alone. Successfully uncovering this site’s secrets will not only contribute to the society’s body of knowledge but shape the exciting careers ahead for each of the prospective agents.

The Horn of Aroden

Friday 1pm, Saturday 10am-2pm, 8pm-12am

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.
For months Taldor faction leader Lady Gloriana Morilla has mustered a small army to aid the Mendevian Crusade; however, without a powerful, unifying icon to rally around, progress is slow. When her agents learned of a dormant relic that might be awakened, she petitioned the Pathfinder Society for its aid in recovering this so-called Horn of Aroden, knowing that the Society would benefit from her army’s hastened arrival. The PCs travel to Brevoy, a fragmented land of dueling, cold, and conquest to secure this horn, though in doing so they join an ongoing plot of politics and intrigue.

The Jester’s Fraud

Friday 6pm-10pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 5-9.
Life in Taldor is fraught with peril, especially for the crumbling noble houses of the Taldan countryside. One such house, the Bourtze Family, has fallen on hard times and they've informed the Pathfinder Society that, in exchange for a small sum of money, they'd be willing to part with a treasure trove of lore about Qadira's Grand Campaign, the 300-year invasion of Taldor. On your arrival, things quickly turn for the worse and instead of evaluating the worth of a few scraps of historical paper, you must instead retrieve one of the most dangerous artifacts in the empire.

The Night March of Kalkemedes

Saturday 3-7

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1-5
A veteran Pathfinder exploring the Fenwall Mountains of Varisia has begun sleepwalking, traveling through the dead of night in the same direction each time. The following mornings, however, he awakens injured and lost in the wilderness, never reaching the mysterious destination that drew him from his bed in the night. Something is calling Kalkamedes, something powerful, but unless he can make it safely to the source of his somnambulism, that power will remain a mystery. It falls to a team of Pathfinders to escort the sleepwalker to his destination and uncover the true nature of the strange phenomenon overtaking Kalkamedes's dreams.

The Sealed Gate

Friday 1pm, Saturday 3-7

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 7-11
Following its efforts to set up a base camp in the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, the Pathfinder Society seemed ready to mobilize its forces when Marcos Farabellus received troubling news: something dire had befallen the camp. What’s worse, these events resulted in the disappearance of one of the Society’s most valuable tools as well as two of its esteemed leaders. The PCs must investigate the ruined camp, track down the perpetrators, and recover a powerful relic to prevent this tragedy from ruining the entire expedition

The Stranger Within

Saturday 8pm-12am, Sunday 10-2pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 5–9.
Guaril Karela, a close ally of the Pathfinder Society and the leader of the Sczarni faction, made dangerous enemies during his bid for territory and influence, and several of the rivals that he once thought defeated have returned with every intention of ending Guaril’s little empire and his life. The PCs must travel to the dangerous city of Kaer Maga, track down these assassins, and sabotage their efforts in order to save one of the Society’s most reliable spymasters.

The Traitor’s Lodge

Sat 10am-2pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3–7.
During the recent attack on Nerosyan, Pathfinders sought out a local venture-captain to aid in the city’s defense. What they found instead suggested the leader had not only fled recently but had played a part in the demons’ offensive. Venture-Captain Jorsal has determined that the safety and integrity of the Pathfinder Society requires that a team delve into the sealed basement beneath the abandoned lodge to determine what other plans his turncoat colleague may have set in motion.

Weapon in the Rift

Sat 10am-2pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 5–9.

Where Mammoths Dare Not Tread

Sunday 10am-2pm

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 5–9.
Despite several promising developments on the front lines, it’s increasingly clear to the Pathfinder Society that fighting its way across the entire Worldwound would prove far more costly than approaching the Sky Citadel Jormurdun from the west. What it might gain in ease of use, the society lacks in an established basecamp, so the PCs must travel to the Realm of the Mammoth Lords to win over the locals and secure a beachhead—all without falling prey to the area’s powerful megafauna, savage demons, and relentless barbarian tribes.

Words of Ancients

Saturday 8pm-12 am

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 7-11
After countless divinations and the efforts of undercover agents throughout Varisia, the Pathfinder Society has discovered the location of the last component needed to awaken a sleeping runelord. In a mad dash to beat the cult of Lissala to this ancient Thassilonian ruin, the Pathfinders must do whatever it takes to ensure they and not the evil cultists acquire the power within. But the arcane components are not unguarded, and even after 10,000 years, the cost of ensuring the safety of the region could be higher than the veteran adventurers are prepared or willing to pay.

Please give Michael Bramnik a big round of applause!

In less than 2 years he has received his 5th star. Michael has been an integral part of the PFS in Bloomington Indiana. As well as fostering Indiana PFS, attending Who’s Yer Con, as well GenCon.

Most of Michael’s tables have very attentive players that really enjoy themselves, as most of the Bloomington players will testify.

Not only is extremely prepared, his involvement in PFS will have a long lasting effect, as those that are lucky enough to play with him, they will travel to across the country and will become active members/leaders of their future lodges.

If are around Bloomington Indiana, on May 11.
Come to the Siege of Bloomington, where we will be celebrating his 5th star as well as the parting of the class of 2014 Indiana University Pathfinders.

Will this work?

Channel Smite (Combat)
You can channel your divine energy through a melee weapon you wield.

Prerequisite: Channel energy class feature.

Benefit: Before you make a melee attack roll, you can choose to spend one use of your channel energy ability as a swift action. If you channel positive energy and you hit an undead creature, that creature takes an amount of additional damage equal to the damage dealt by your channel positive energy ability. If you channel negative energy and you hit a living creature, that creature takes an amount of additional damage equal to the damage dealt by your channel negative energy ability. Your target can make a Will save, as normal, to halve this additional damage. If your attack misses, the channel energy ability is still expended with no effect.

With this.

Agile Tongue (Grippli)
Your long pink tongue is capable of manipulating small items and even stealing objects.
Prerequisites: Grippli.

Benefit: You have a prehensile tongue with a range of 10 feet. You can pick up items weighing no more than 5 pounds, make Sleight of Hand checks, perform the steal or disarm combat maneuvers, or make melee touch attacks with your tongue.

I basically thinking of having a weak str cleric that will be able to hit and do minimum damage with a channeled smite.

Hello everyone,

If you live in Indiana and play PFS I would like you to list here where you play at.

If you live near Indianapolis you can find our new warhorn.

Central Indiana Warhorn.

We are aiming to cross over to the new Version on the First.

In the past couple month we have had a Southern and Northern Warhorn.

Leslie has one already set up for the Northern Region

Mike has one set up for Laffeyette

Mr. Chapman has one for the Southern Region.

So if you can list areas you play in and if you would like someone to figure out how to list your games on warhorn.

Sound Off!!!

Hello everyone, has anyone tried the new version of Warhorn V2. Do you like it??

Are their any simple guides or instructions for a slow minded Admin (Me)?

I have been frustrated trying to find a "lost" user.

I like warhorn V1 and like the changes I have seen so far.

Chris.

Indiana has a new venture lieutenant E. L. Warren, out of South Bend!

In fact if you are in Ft. Wayne during September 14-15 she will be organizing 3Con, aka the 3 Rivers Convention.

Our Indiana VL's hit the ground running.

Congrats !!!

Hello

I am proud, and excited to congratulate Tracy Windeknecht on earning her 5th star. I first met Tracy in March 2011 when I was running City of Strangers part I. She quickly joined the ranks as a GM, later, becoming Indiana’s second Venture Captain. She has really helped PFS grow in the Midwest.

If you have played at her table, you will have fun. Her games will turn a bad day into a fun memorable day. I observed her 150 table at GenCon, her players had a blast. The players were singing, screeching with goblin voices, squealing with delight the whole time.

Help me congratulate my friend Tracy Windeknecht on earning her 5 star!

5/5

I would like to welcome 3 new Indiana VL’s.

Jeremy Chapman –Evansville, (Southern Indiana)

Jim Crase - Beechgrove

Marc Rothenberg – Indianapolis

I look forward to working with each of you. Each of these Vl's has volunteered in various ways that many of our players will never realize.

Congrats

Chris

I would like to salute Michael Cleland getting his 4th star.

I am not to sure how long Michael has been GM'ing PFS, but it hasn't been that long, Perhaps 18 months or less. He does an excellent job gm'ing. His players have a habit of having their character die, his player surprisingly end up joyfull of the experience.

He regulary journeys to distant stores as a VL.

Please help celebrate my friends fourth star.

Congrats Mike Brock on his 39* birthday.

We have a really cool campaign co-ordinator.

So on the srd Item cost

Command word item Spell level x caster level x 1,800 gp Cape of the Mountebank

This Cape of Montebank cost 10800

That would be 4x9x1800.

What am I missing on this cost?

5/5

Just wanted to let all the new GM'S know you can now get bundles of scenarios by season on the Black Friday sale. Season 0 and 1 looks like the only available bundles.

Just ate some Squelly Nord, happy cooked beast day.

Pistol, Sword cane
775 gp 1d3/1d4 ×3 10 ft. 1 (5 ft.) 1 lb. B and P

A combination weapon, this gun mixes a coat pistol with a sword cane.

Benefit: The sword cane pistol is considered a double weapon for the purpose of creating masterwork or magical versions of this weapon. The pistol attachment makes the nature of the weapon a little more difficult to hide. An observer must make a DC 15 Perception check to realize that an undrawn sword cane pistol is a weapon rather than a walking stick; the DC decreases to 5 if the observer is able to handle the weapon. A sword cane pistol uses either a bullet and a single dose of black powder or an alchemical cartridge as ammunition. The sword part of the weapon must be drawn in order to load the pistol part of the weapon.

Sword Cane 45 gp 1d4/1d6 ×2 4 lbs. P

This slender light blade lies within a wooden container that serves as both its scabbard and hiding place.

Benefit: You can draw the blade from the cane as a swift action (or a free action if you have the Quick Draw feat). An observer must make a DC 20 Perception check to realize an undrawn sword cane is a weapon rather than a walking stick; the DC decreases to 10 if the observer is able to handle the weapon

So really what is this thing?

It is a combination weapon, not a real double weapon? Not really spelled out but I could see arguments to fire and stab the same round. Would the weight be 5 lbs? What would the correct cost be 775? I was thinking of having one made into mithiril. What special materials can it be made from? Darkwood? Then I guess the next question, how do you fire it? Is the handle/sword part the gun, or the scabbard part. I am thinking the pistol is the part of the scabbard. Since you have to remove it from the cane to reload it seams the muzzle must be part of the cane.

So the Sword Cane is ment to be clever DC 20 flat per is a good check, why does the added Coat Pistol remove the DC so low. Since it is infact a very small firearm.

Would it be wiser to just Sleight of hand a coat Pistol, and carry on with a regular Sword Cane.

Would this actually be a nice weapon to use, my future Master Spy wants to know. I was eyeballing the coat pistol, then really looked up on this. I am currently equipend with a bladed scarf. Then bringing up the Ezeren, cane. Would this be considered 3 serperate weapons, a cane 1d6 B a sword 1d6 P and a firearm 1d4x3 B/P?

If the UC allowed a free Coat Pistol instead of a Pistol, I would of just chosen to go with the Coat Pistol. Why wasn't the Coat Pistol ruled as a light weapon?

Any thoughts?

Congrats to Tracy Windeknecht on her third star.

I met Tracy March 2011 when she was just a humble player in City of Strangers part one.

Now she is a 3 star GM as well as a VC.

She does a damn fine job, I congratulate her as well as Indiana PFS congratuate her.

Other honorable mention Tim, 3rd star as well as the third star soon to be Greg, Tom and Ankur.

I was wondering how long your round takes.

If you are a player, how long does it take you when your turn comes around?

If you are a GM, does your round go longer than the players or less time?

Tiers and classes helpfull.

Also as a player is there anything the GM could do to help you, for instance a GM telling player A your up Player B your next. Do you like index cards with pre rolled initiavies done at the start of the game.

For instance I started using wave initiative, I disliked it when I first really learned about it. If there are 3 different pairs of creatures 2 goblins 2 kobolds and 2 frogs. I find it faster to group them together and have the frogs go on the same initiative. If there are 16 moorlocks I will group them in 4's. If there are 3 rogues I will not put them in wave iniative.
