Background
________________________________________________________________
My birth location is the area of the Holy Cities and my home has been decimated; A giant horde of bad guys that came of the the City State of the Invincible Overlord and made a band across the gap between the two oceans and made attacks on the Elf homeland and some forays into the area of the Holy cities. As the area was always well patrolled my family was evacuated in time.
My parents are happily married and I am the third son of 9 children. I am see as the rising star in my family as we were Middle class farmers and land owners of both grapes and olives for sale and the regular stuff for subsistence. My Uncle loves me like his own first son. On his frequents trips from one of the great holy cities he and his teamsters would come by to get my father's goods; and he would take me back to the city and show me things. Sometimes he spoils me rotten. He would show me how to use graft and extortion to get a little ahead; but not take to much advantage; calling it a Tax for the Poor. I consider my uncle as teamster middle management; got about 15 guys working for him; eats in a big local restraint with other teamster middle management; everyone’s crew eat around them; all like family all tough hard working guys trying to get their slice of the pie. Now my Grandfather, on the other hand not only do he and I not get along; he is severe and has tried many times to beat this corruption out of me. I fear him and try to avoid him and his house; he has terrified me since I was a child; his paladin virtues are far to unforgiving and inflexible to your tastes.
My recruiter and trainer is named Kalidor the Sheive a rogue and bard; he is good at both, but tends to get distracted by love, heroic quests, and court intrigue. My local Guild Master is Sir Buckhorn of the Wheel. I think Teamsters with this guy he owns wagons, wheel smiths, blacksmiths and has several transportation contracts with all the right people as well as the primary rights of shipping if an army is raised. He also owns or controls many banks; jewelers and exotic dealers as well as sweatshops for cloth and many handlers who deal with entertainers of various sorts. Being in the Holy Cities this type of works has a very thick lawful veneer all transactions have contracts and paper trails all of witch apparently above board but stinks to high heaven. Most of his guys are not tough; not enforcer types; sure there are a few; but who wants to pick a fight with a paladin; politeness and groveling is the watchword. Codes, locks, and surveillance are primary skills here as well as trade; everything here is regimented down to the least capable beggar. To my estimation is that Sir Buckhorn makes a lot of money; a whole lot of money; the Holy Cities after all are very wealth; he has both right hand and left hand agents working for him; his guards are all human; he is a half elf; he frequently dines with mid range nobility and his manor house is well fortified and he as a reputable mercenary force guarding it but he does not do business from it.
Kalidor, and I having been his apprentice, sleeps everywhere and anywhere, mostly for free; he mostly has me carry stuff for him, be it stolen goods or his instruments so he can wheel and deal; he is a very good trainer. He tells me what he seeks to accomplish and how he plans to do it then I watch and see how thing progress. He plans everything and never so much as steals anything opportunistically; he is somewhat paranoid; fears the Guardian. Tuesdays was my free days, I have no idea what he does on Tuesday though you have tried your best to find out; he is just way to hard to track or follow. I have traveled with various retinues in the company of Kalidor all over the Holy Lands with glimpses of the Elflands in the north to the outposts of the Caliph of Arabia in the South west.
I was given a box to deliver to Bones at the Well of Life the box and instructions were given to you by Sir Buckhorn.
Instructions: Thoron; go in find Mr. Bones; he is on assignment at or near the Well of Life in the Southern Continent of the Ghinor Highlands; here is a Ghinor phrase scroll; make contact with him and give him this box; then follow his instructions; if Mr. Bones is deceased, Locate Koob with the same instructions; find Nikolai; Mr Fingers; or Sticks in that order if Koob is not alive and they will direct you to a ranking member for instructions.
So now I am off to the ship to that area…
