Glad you are "back" and made it through w/ your sanity intact. I generally don't talk to many people and don't do much on social media. Thorgrym the Tracker, hero of the UpTurned Cup had several people to meet up with after the initial business was taken care of upon return from the Sunken Queen. Grym went to the temple of Sarenrae where he left a sizable donation and gave his thanks not only to his goddess but to his old mentor Alyiah. If it wasn't for her taking a chance on a poor street urchin, Grym wasn't sure where he would be. Being in the neighborhood, Grym stops into to see young master Kip and the old dog he left in the boy's care. He is satisfied the boy is doing well and thanks him for giving old Gramps a nice life for his final years. Bucho gives the old dog some sniffs, but Gramps barely wakes up to give more than a few thumps of his tail. Grym stops by the Fencing Academy to see his master. He firmly believes his life was still his own mostly by his skill with blades, skills he received by training at the Academy. The ranger assured him he would be back and fencing soon. Both to continue his own training and to assist with noobs. The ranger also returned to his old place at the Cracked Cup. No longer wanting to live in the shed out back, he reserved a permanent room on the second floor. The old man was happy to have such a distinguished hero staying at the inn. While the occasional rowdy drunk would need to be thrown out, only once did anyone ever give the bartender at the Cracked Cup any real trouble. A few days later the man dissappeared. He was returned a day later white faced a shaking, he would never say what happened, but he was well mannered the rest of his life. Now Grym feeling he could relax for a few days went to down to the brothel he had frequented a few times. He was saddened to learn that his favored girl had moved on. But being a hero of the UpTurned Cup (with a heavy gold purse), he had a large group of willing ladies willing to do whatever he needed. He picked a well fed buxom woman to take care of him for a few days... In the days to follow Grym stayed out of politics for the most part. Though he kept his word and stood by his old friend Odric whenever he was called. The mute ranger was something of an odd figure occasionally showing up in the background around the noble Odric the Stout. He often made others nervous around him and the Stout used this to his advantage when needed. Grym took a loose position and was attached both to the Guard and the Sable Marines. He served as one of the primary trainers for sword, dagger, and unarmed fighting. It only took one foolish guard to make a crack at the strange mute teacher. Grym faced him with SharkSlayer alone and showed him that he could snuff out his life at any time he chose. It was rumored that Thorgrym occasionally did secret assignments straight from Cressida or other shadowy figures. The mute ranger would never confirm or deny anything.
The ranger lived in Korvosa for almost the next decade. At times sleeping in the barracks with the other Sable Marines, occasionally staying at a small reserved room at Stout Manor, and the rest of the time he lived in his private room at the Cracked Cup where he kept a permanent "assistant" hired out from the brothel. One day he took Bucho and Heidi the Hippogriff and left Korvosa. Occasionally rumors of his adventures would drift in, he was fighting frost giants in the north, or he had helped unearth some long lost treasure in the desserts, or at one point a merchant was sure it was Thorgrym who rescued a very expensive merchant princess from a band of pirates. When Odric heard these tales he would smile and lift a glass in silent toast. He always kept the ranger's small private room open and dust free because he would come back someday...

Grym has a silent chuckle over Ferox and Morkeleb's upcoming nuptials. The ranger has no personal interest in marriage (at least anytime soon), though he wouldn't mind paying a visit to a certain buxom lass. At least their arrangement was very clear. Money for "services". Since the ranger got the Celestial Armor and Serethial, he feels he has no place to lay claim on any of the treasure. However, the pale green prism ioun stone does spark his curiosity. Thinking more about treasure Grym ponders the moment when Ferox nominated the ranger to carry Serethial for the UpTurned Cup. Grym had agreed to wield the incredibly magic blade at least to defeat the Queen and Zon-Kuthon's influence. Now that things were over, Grym wondered if there was a safe place for him to set it down. For the moment the safest place seemed to be at his hip, but perhaps in a future where Odric held the Crimson Throne...

The ranger thought about it only for a moment, then he walked over and gave Odric his hand. Right behind him the big brindle dog offered his paw. Thorgrym grew up poor, first on a small farm, then a stable boy, then a street urchin... But Odric on the other hand. He was a brewmeister of some skill and a member of the Up Turned Cup, that should give him the support of the common man. AND he was born of noble blood. He would at least have a claim with the upper class. Though the ranger really had a poor grasp of politics, he still believed Odric would have a chance, and most importantly Grym trusted the man. The Stout's heart was more powerful than any other king he had ever heard this side of a fairy tale.

Bucho has (had) an Int of 3, he passed the save the first round. So is reduced to 1 and isn't in a coma. Grym Fort save 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (9) + 21 = 30 Bucho Fort save 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (3) + 23 = 26 The ranger blinks a few times from the bright light. From Serethial in his hand, he knows it has been vanquished. Grym swings the blade over his head in a circle and changes grip bringing it point down to stab into the rock a few inches. He kneels in silent supplication to Sarenrae. Then almost an afterthought, he gives thanks to Calistra and Abadar, and perhaps any others who lent a hand. Still kneeling, he gives Bucho a hearty scratch. Then wraps the dog into headlock and tries to bore him to the ground. The huge dog stands up and without too much difficulty starts running around the room dragging his master, Bucho surely thinks this is the best game in a long time. At least since he got to sink his teeth into that dragon a few minutes ago. After some silent laughter, the ranger breaks off from the dog. He accepts a long pull of the Stout's brew. When finished he asks via telepathy. Are we all dead?

At the death of the Queen the ranger pauses with his sword stroke in perfect extension, a text book picture of superb form. Then after a long breath he relaxes and almost seems to go limp. His zen state is broken. Yet, before he can float to the ground and put things together in his mind the room goes mad again. For a split second Thorgrym panics, he though they had won, but from his feelings through the hilt of Serethial he knew this was not true. Then he saw the crown with the dragon's teeth still intact. Without hesitation he spun the Zon-Kuthon hating sword over his head and brought it down on the crown and fangs as hard as he could... 1d20 + 22 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 22 + 2 + 5 = 37

Round 1 Team Ranger The ranger calmly breathes as he rides the floating disc up. His long time blade SharkSlayer is a figurative extension of his left hand. His right hand rests on Serethial's hilt. He can feel the sword's excitement and power. The blade is hungry for the downfall of Zon-Kuthon's influence.
Just as the disc reached its final stop he reached over to stroke Bucho's loyal head and while the blood bubble broke and literal Hell burst forth he took just enough time to bend down and let the dog give a sloppy lick to the side of his head. Then they were moving, great speed enhanced to supernatural.

The ranger is quite impressed with the magical Manse. Grym helps himself to some of the lovely banquet. He tries a little bit of everything. He keeps dropping food on the floor for Bucho. The big dog keeps the floor around the banquet table spotless. Grym thought for a bit about whether he should or shouldn't help/assist the Calistrian w/ his Rites. Part of the ranger felt he should participate and help as he could. The Calistrian magic had carried the party through many tough situations. Yet, ultimately Thorgrym decided not to. He was a rather simple man in bed. He honestly was a little afraid he may let Gauis down or may be asked to do something that didn't follow his tastes.
