Thomas remained patient as negotiations took place. Inwardly he admitted the pedanticness of it all was getting on his nerves.

"Roughly a couple of hundred pounds of mining charges ready to explode if they so much as get a bad feeling. And enough iron in the mine to make it even the shrapnel pretty nasty." Thomas confirmed. "And enough firepower between everyone that bad feelings can spread for quite away."

As he said this thomas started to glow faintly giving the impression that he was burning from within.

Changing attuned element to fire. Stance causes me to glow.

"Oh hell no." Thomas says taking one glamce into the obvious death trap.

Thomas followed along not giving much in the way of comment. As they approached the mouth of the mine Thomas started to get that feeling of wariness that comes with such things and automatically scanned the dirt in front for fresh tracks. "Are we sure it's abandoned?"

Thomas absorbs all of this looking a little paler compared to how he looked immediately after the fight but otherwise shows no outward signs of anything but careful intake and listening. Inwardly he explored how all these rules and laws that governed this group of people and others literally controlled their universe. It was strange, in training and in the infantry rules, permissions, and orders were everything. But once he hit the mountains and the actual people giving the orders were a million miles away? Orders became guidelines, all that mattered was the mission. Everything else was between you, your mates, and God.

"Three plans." Thomas mused to himself quietly. "And probably a fourth and fifth in case everything goes to shit. I wonder how they were going to pull this off without having the whole thing fall on top of their heads and see them all destroyed."

Thomas stood by mostly passively watching the proceedings. He'd sat in on enough interrogations to know this was about the tamest thing that could possibly happen. As the voices droned out and faded into the background the cacophony of voices that typically accompanied his thoughts grew louder drowning out all but their insistent input. Colors muted and faded away as time itself seem to slow. Cold sweat formed on Thomas's palms as unbidden visions clouded his senses.

As the vision fades he's greeted by the warm smile of Nurai. "Yeah, long night is all."

Thomas casually checking his weapon before holstering it. "Fire's a lot easier to come by. Trouble is charcoal makes a poor talker."

Crossing his arms and trying to force his own heart to stop pounding Thomas asked. "Would someone like to explain to the audience what the f#*& that was all about?"

Thomas pauses briefly glancing up the stairs as a number of science fiction b movies play themselves out upstairs. "Well...shit." Half heartedly he points his gun back at Jared. "Just chill out there a minute and let this play out okay?"

Thomas's gun shakes slightly as ultimatums are made and people talk way too much but otherwise his expression doesn't change. "Jen, try not to kill the bastard again. I'm going to make sure we're not visiting someone's mother with bad news tonight."

Nimbly bouncing past the brawl into the hall beyond. Not seeing a clear shot ahead. he decides that it might be easier to subdue Jared if he's on the floor. "I'll beg your forgiveness later if I'm inclined.

Barely turning back to Jared he puts a very large bullet into the vampire's kneecap fairly confident in the fact that a very large hole there would be inconvenient.

Thomas draws his weapon, a rather large high caliber pistol, leveling it at Jared with the cold blank face of someone whose shot more than a fair share of people backing away just far enough to give some distance.

"I'm here to find a murderer not play kids games."

The gun discharges, and the smell of ozone fills the air as lightning crackles from Thomas's arm, into the gun and through Jared before he has an instant to react.

Thomas rolls his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose. "If I wanted you dead you never would have gotten past hello. I said you're following in your daddys footsteps. You will shortly be among the dead. You're about to skip your morning jog. You're turning full vamp Jared. Do I need to make a clearer picture? Because I don't have wnough crayons for that."

Taking a seat himself Thomas adds. "So you drank from them once and stopped because of the bad taste. Why would a fey even ask? What was the argument over?"

Thomas sighs and goes back behind the bar quickly and deftly pulling out a few bottles and supplies before getting started on a single drink. As he does so he speaks.
"Yeah, someone found him." Thomas leveles his gaze and dropped all pretense. "He was dead in the stall and pumped full of a lot of interesting drugs."

Then continuing to mix the drink he keeps going. "And completely drained of blood. That doesn't look good Jared. But that's just the start. Next thing you know the Wild Hunt is calling for blood and we come here to find you dying."

Giving a second for shock to set in Tom finishes the drink. Then continues as he comes around the bar. "Now I dont mean you're about to get a bad funeral. As in you're about to follow in your dad's footsteps." Passing the drink he adds with genuine sympathy. "Better enjoy it fast. Its very likely your last as a human."

Whether or not Jared takes the drink he asks. "You mind telling us what happened?"

Waiting for the two ladies to cross the threshold Thomas catches it out of the corner of his eyes and snorts as if she shared something reactionary. Stepping in behind the ladies he pats the small of his back.and says casually.

"I only hope we dont have to. Her mother will never let us hear the end of it."

Calling Jared before he shuffles out of sight he says. "Valda was pretty worried about you when you left all of a sudden. Was afraid you might have gotten food poisoning. Hell of a party though. Got the fair folk all riled up. Makes it a bad night for a guy like you to be alone in the woods. Ive got some tums in the bag if you think itll help."

Thomas frowned but nodded at Auroras suggestion. "Fine but we drop the act as soon as we're in." Turning to Jenniffer he adds. "Its out of character for him to run. When the vampire is being hunted they always flee to their lair and make a final stand with the hunters. More likely he's got the place rigged. Probably got cameras and loudspeakers everywhere to f$~% with people."

That said Thomas starts to make his way up to the front door.

"I've got my bike but it's less intimidating if we show up in as few cars as possible I thought I saw a massive SUV here is that one of yours? I can pile into that."

On the road Thomas caught a quick nap. The old soldiers trick of catching sleep literally anywhere coming in handy as he fought off the fatigue. Getting out of the suv and witnessing the deliberate haunted house antics Thomas shurgged as he checked his pistol out of sight of the windows before going to it.

"Well let's hope he hasn't paid extra for the flying medusa heads and aggressive acrobatic midgets. I think I should knock first to at least present a familiar face. After that, if the ladies want to give a nicer face to talk to we can go from there. Sound good?"

Thomas rolls his eyes at the.mention of the mana drink. "He likes to drink corpse revivers. Pretentious French crap given a dumb name he only buys to make himself look the part better. Not worth it given how much decent imports cost."

Thomas stretches a bit to work out stiff muscles before taking a seat next to him. "Im all for the helpful concerned friend approach but lets keep it straightforward. I may have to shoot this guy so let's not play any stupid games with him."

Thomas shrugs. "You'd know better than me doc." Putting the last of the glasses away and putting the sign up he steps out of the bar hauling his back pack. "Either way we wont know for sure till we catch Jared. Maybe marastaras involved, maybe not. Jared will know either way."

Placing a boittle of templeton and a shot glass on the table for the good doctor Tom continues. "We also had a nasty nix in attendance. She was missing too after the body was lost. Couldn't tell you if they're connected. Just a feeling." As he finishes putting away the drinks he continues. "I've got a feeling our boy might have killed her on accident. If they were fed on before. Maybe got a thrill out of it. A combination of drugs, frustration, and maybe a bit of set up and he goes too far, panics, and takes off. Our nix friend could have taken off out the window. They're small enough to do that, and rumor has she's got a nasty reputation outside of town. I'm thinking it's not so easy as to think the vampire got them."

"Me?" Tom said in mild surprise. "Just tired from a night of too loud music and too many dead women in bath stalls." Tom shrugged and smiled back warmly. "Nothing a calm beer and good company won't cure. Outside of that, I'm easy."

After a few moments thomas waves Nurai over and smiles in the guise of friendly conversation/ "There were two vampires in attendance tonight, well, one's a half vampire however that works. Both are gone. Vargus over there's a werewolf but unless our lady's been in the stall for a while or he cleans up fast he's probably not our guy."

As tom started to close the bar he kept an eye out for three individuals in particular. All three had cause enough in their natures. Though he wondered if they had any idea what they were victimizing. Could you fool a predator into thinking you're prey? Would it even matter?

The ghosts fidgeted and swirled in agitation. Blood and violence always did that. That's how most of them became ghosts after all. He served the last drinks and started closing down properly. All while watching the crowd for what expected might be people of interest.

As everyone finishes their introductions and announcing their intents Thomas sighs wearily and rubs the back of his head pondering everything he knows.

"I better start closing the bar up. Ill make last call."

As he turns to walk back a thought strikes him and he turns back to Nurai.

"I have a spare bed if you need a place to crash. Long as you dont mind the old lady amell in the house." He says much more warmly than he has anything else so far.

"Hold up." Thomas called out before everyone scattered.

"I get everyone is eager to play csi. But I have real bad hang ups about trusting total strangers where my life is involved. So how about we just start with names."

Tom paused briefly as if listening to some distant sound and continued. "Im Tom."

Thomas looked much worse for the wear as if hed just sprinted ten miles. More than that he looked troubled as the images were still fresh in his mind. As he responds his face and his tone darken considerably.

You already know my answer. I just want to know when was the last time he rode down unarmed people.

Thomas braced himself on the bar as the fatigue settled over him. The weight of his firearm becoming quite apparent on the small of his back. Whoever, whatever, the man in the leaves was he was bad news regardless of whether or not he was responsible for the scream.

Straightening up he attended to the few patrons who stayed by the bar keeping his eyes fixed on the leafy bird man.

Thomsa observed the man trying to place him from earlier in the night. New arrival with bad timing and worse fashion sense? Maybe. Maybe not.

Giving himself over to the voices he zoned out for a second showing no outward signs but nonetheless channeling strong energies. He didn't like doing this. It often returned nothing but it was still worth a shot.

Thomas mixed the requested drinks, again, without comment knowing it's not worth responding to teenaged snark.

However when the older darker woman spoke to him he brightened up considerably and smiled in return. Smart, pleasant and attractive, at worst he was about to have good conversation and maybe make a friend. At best he might get laid. Winning all around.

Sadly as he opened his mouth someone had to kill the mood, and probably another person. As the woman understandably dropped her drink and fled the bar, towards the scream he noticed, he sighed and cleaned the small mess made.

He didn't bother to run towards the scream, they had guys for that and Valda could handle herself. Instead he kept his eyes on the crowd. Who ran towards the scream, who ran away, who stuck around and who was trying their damndest to be as inconspicuous as possible.

With a curt nod the barman reaches below for a glass. Deftly placing it on the bartop his other arm emerges from a mini-fridge below with a clear plastic jug half full of a sloshing brown liquid one can assume is iced tea.

Pouring the drink the barman places it in front of Solomon without comment.

Even as Tom heard the words his sixth sense kicked in. Change among these kinds of people can be both beautiful and dangerous. Automatic defenses kicked in and his sense became more keen, more aware. He wasn't just catching the aroma of sweat and alcohol but the memory of trees and the whisps of cigarette smoke before the age of chemical additives and filters. It was subtle and only the most trained eye coud catch it, but Tom was on guard.

The bartender shrugs at Valdaa as she walks up speaking to her in the same matter of fact tone he's given everyone thus far. "Just another night with a touch more weirdness than typical. Speaking of bank accounts boss we're running out of non-alcoholic stuff and the short hairy guys in the corner sucked down all the Lacasa so I've had to mess with the drinks menu until we get a minute to dig out some more from the basement. They're drinking sweet and fruity tonight. You'd think it was summer already."

"No." The bar man responds in the same matter of fact tone to the blonde girl.

Without another word he deftly got a bottle of the requested cider and poured it into a chilled glass before serving it up. Eyeing the wallet he adds. "Can I see your ID real fast please maam? Thank you."

The man behind the bar was scruffy and bore a polite but stern demeanor that suggested that he was there to serve the drinks and some idle chit chat but little else.

Dressed in a simple blue polo shirt and jeans the bartender really didn't seem too out of place from any normal bar save the drinks on the wall behind him had names in exotic languages and strange bottle tops in the shapes of dragons, skulls, or other more esoteric shapes. Some of those bottle swirled with odd colors and as he opened a few to make a quick mixed drink for a pale gentlemen in an outfit somewhere between robes and a pile of bed sheets the air around them filled with the scents of summer flowers and the sweaty desperation of lovers in a hurry.

Passing the drink off to the man who half walked, half floated off he quietly refilled the cheap bourbon glass at the end of the bar without a word. That was one to keep an eye on, angry drunks among people were bad enough when the person in question didn't suddenly explode into fire, monsters, or literal demons.

Truth be told it had been at least a month since he felt completely out of touch with reality. Now, surrounded as he was by a large number of people he was fairly certain could count their birthdays to a time before the founding of the town he could only keep up appearances and thank Valda later for the simple enchantment she had added to the bar to fill in the gaps in his knowledge regarding mixing drinks for folks who like their moonshine fermented in the stomachs of dragons.

At the very least he had enough experience with human bartending to not get caught up in the silly games and bets of the creatures here. Humans were just out to get laid or take your money. Some of the people here were looking for a new pet at best or food at worst. Valda had rules against that kind of thing in her bar, but it sure as shit didn't stop some from trying.

Seeing a teenage girl walk up to the bar and put on her cutest "I'm not really an underaged drinker" face almost made him start laughing hysterically.

Instead he made a show of cleaning the bar and said matter of factly. "Yes, we carry mead."
