I'm back online.
Sorry for not telling, but I was out cold, for the past two weeks.
I'm going to read up and post in a little while.
Theruska positions himself close to the door with no marking on it. Silently he looks around if the others think alike, then waits to have the door checked before opening it.
Theruska turns aside, then follows Thelix to the double door, taking the other side.
Theruska keeps to the front of the group, doing his best to not be in the way of someone and keeps quiet.
Smelling the drugs, Theruska is not so sure he wants to breath too deep in that room. The human speaks, after looking around a bit: "You think we should report that to the city-guards? Would that help? Or would that nest just get a new king?"
Finally told directly that he stinks Theruska looks himself down, realising once more that he isn't in his best of days, clothings torn, smelly and outright dirty he looks a bit ashamed.
Nothing I can help now, fast. Back to work. he thinks, then looks around to the others once more, to open the door when they are ready.
"Uh... just a thought, but maybe Majenko knows the information you were after?" Theruska says to no one in particular, still standing next to the door, now waiting for the others to free the dragon-ling.
Upon seeing the bladed gauntlets, Theruska thinks better of his last words to not fight with weapons... He eyes the weapons suspiciously, after Thelix propped them on the table.
Hearing Sarastal explaining the situation to the dwarf, he shrinks a bit, looking down to the planks. He quickly volunteers to open the door and get in the other room first, feeling the need to make up for him breaking out the fight and with that, indirectly killing the source of information.
Thelix Moody wrote: Looking at his new raggedly dressed companion he states. "Never expect honor among thieves". "You'll only be disappointed". "I'm sure you will perform much better should you have a weapon". "There should be some laying around now, and maybe some Armor you could fit into". "I could help you make the armor fit if you wish". "I think I've learned that lesson now. But i have to refuse to take a weapon or armor from here. I was trained in fighting unarmed and unarmored... But I guess my training didn't take on in a real fight.
At least you didn't loose your money on me. I have to say, I feel obliged to do my best to help you in anything you need, for not being able to win this 'game'. I am in your debt."
"well... that did not turn out the way I thought it would. I'm sorry. I really thought he would honor at least his own rules of the game he proposed." Theruska says, after getting back his breath.
He then goes to search for the mechanism for the trap door, to possibly close it.
Zoomackulas Eichendar wrote: Theruska Thull wrote: Got a question as well... Zoom: which Language would you suggest Theruska knows, now that I spent points on Linguistics? Varisian would be good! don't want to give to much away but Abyssal might be helpful. Maybe you were trained in old Thassilonian even!
Just some thoughts, hope that helps!
Rob Varisian is common, right?
Going with okd Thassilonian then. Thanks.
Got a question as well... Zoom: which Language would you suggest Theruska knows, now that I spent points on Linguistics?
This is getting me nowhere... Let's see if I can hit another one... thinks the human in his rags and jumps down from the table, towards the nearest other thug.
Mobility: +4 on AC against AoO's from moving, still dodging the big one. Let me know if I can still try to hit on another combatant.
Theruska should be done. Added the Pathfinder Charakter sheet at the end in a spoiler as to not use the wrong one now.
Have a look and point out mistakes everyone!
Got a question: Should we really update in the middle of a fight?
'nother one: How much rebuilding is allowed?
Change of Skills? Change of feats? (Those two are probably, with the changes to skills and feats)
Change of ability scores? (Maybe, with the bonus racial ability modifiers)
Change of class(es)? (Unlikely, but have to ask, just in case)
Equipment?
I have mine since Thursday. I could not report that because of the Messageboards having gone... ;)
Going to work on the changes in a bit.
Ah, okay. Can live with that. New Ini?
"Damn..."
Seeing the situation turn sour, Theruska finally reaches down for the dagger, hoping to get it to cut the strand binding him to the thug.
As I didn't know what the results of the checks would turn out to be, I didn't want to guess what happens, so I described nothing.
Here's the Grapple check (1d20+1=16), still, he needs to hit me first, isn't it? And, wouldn't I get an AoO, if he has no Improved Grapple?
Theruska quickly thinks of his options, standing so close to his opponent, some coins in hand. Grapple him? No. Trip him? No. Hit him? Maybe. How to win this? More gold in pocket...
Zoomackulas Eichendar wrote: The game ends once a contestant is unconscious, dead or knocked off the table; as soon as no coins remain on the table; or as soon as any coin is knocked off the table. ... might work
So Theruska tries to get his hand full of coins into his pocket and to shove some others with his feet down from the table, as to end the game quickly.
They won't like that... And it might actually not even work. Still need to try it.
Zoomackulas Eichendar wrote: The big man instantly moves into motion grabbing the strap with both hands and yanks with all of his strength trying to pull Theruska towards him off balance(Make an opposed Str check, need to beat a 21. If fail make a balance check to see if you stay standing, apply bonus from dodge and fighting def.). Theruska has a STR of 10, so a 21 isn't possible. Rolling the checks normal, as I don't know what bonus dodge and fighting defensively would give him.
Strength check +0, Balance check +7 (1d20=4, 1d20+7=21)
So, no binding to the other hand then?
Theruska is a bit shocked at the sight of the mountain of a man in front of him. Suddenly he is not that confident any more.
But, what was said shall be done and so he climbs the table, lets himself get bound to the thug.
Initiative +2 (1d20+2=9)
Activating Dodge and Fighting defensively -> AC 18
On the count of Devargo he reaches down to the coins to grab a handful and stow them into his pouch.
Sarastal wrote: Theruska Thull wrote: Thelix is waiting for Devargo to answer the question... ;) I think you mean Theruska, not Thelix. You are talking about your own character, right? Damn... Haven't played the char long enough to remember the name. You are right. Theruska waits for the answer.
Thelix is waiting for Devargo to answer the question... ;)
"Thank you for the opportunity." the monk speaks, taking the offered hand.
"My name is Theruska, Theruska Thull.
I just hope this ... Mace... whoever he is, is not too skilled in this sport. Regardless, I will do my best."
He then puts down his backpack and rest of his belongings, after which he turns to Devargo and asks: "Master Devargo, I'm not that clear on the rules of Knivesies. Does it have to be the right hand that has the leather strapped on?"

Zoomackulas Eichendar wrote: Over in the corner, the man in tattered clothing slinks in the shadows watching what's going on and thinking how best to proceed. This group of folks seem more like the people he would associate with than this Devargo charater and his villians. Standing so close to the wall he also begins to notice the wall is covered in spider webs which start to stick to him as he stands there. Tiny movement on the webbing also attracts his attention.... Taking a step forward to get away from the webs Theruska makes a decision.
He moves up to Thelix, clears his throat to get the attention of the group, then speaks silently so that (hopefully) only the group can hear him:
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but, may I make a proposal to your cause?
I know I don't look like much, even more so with this worn down clothing, and not much else in my possesion, but I'm rather skilled in fighting unarmed and unarmored... something most of you didn't take on, as I see it.
So I'm willing to fight for your side, if you need that information Devargo has as desperately as I need some money."
With that he falls silent, looking around the group if they want to take the offer.
After the game is done, Theruska shrinks back to the shadows, near the door out of the room, but he keeps his ears open, his hands free.
He looks over the group, which of them best to approach, and how. Should he offer to play Knivesies for them? Or ask them for help afterwards?
Or should he leave and try his luck elsewhere?
Man, Invisible Caste must really hate you.
Theruska is really interested in the contest going on, for it could mean a quick way of getting to some money. He is confident that he would have a chance of winning, when he is relying on his training without armor and unarmed.
Getting more exited the longer the fight lasts, Theruska gets up from his chair again, shouting up at the table: "Worshipper of Gorum! Don't forget to pick up some coins too!"
Will do.
I basically didn't really purchase any equipment, just what was necessary. Anything else didn't fit the background.
So I hope for some make-up there, but if not it might be fun too.
Zoomackulas Eichendar wrote: Baern Stonehammer wrote: EDIT: Wait, how much money do we get again? Max gold for each level plus con bonus for each! ... Is it just me, or does that not make any sense?
So, some thinking later it's no half-orc anymore.
Human Monk it is. With a STR of 10.
The basic stats are done, the rest will follow on Monday at the latest.
As I stated before: I won't be online on weekends.
Having to think about some ideas around Theruska, I think I will have him finished by Monday. Hopefully.
Ok, thanks.
Somehow now I have a silly idea stuck in my head: a half-orc monk.
With a STR of 9 (after applying racial modifiers).
I'm gonna think about this some more, but if you are okay with it, I think it will happen.
Zoomackulas Eichendar wrote: Creation Rules
Rule set-3.5 for now, going to switch to PFRPG when I get it!
...
Max hp + con bonus
...
25 pt buy in
...
One or both of the two of you needs to pick a fighter type, its up to you to figure it out.
...
Cheers
Rob
Thanks!
Some questions:
Hitpoints: "Max hp + con bonus": First level only, I guess?
Ability Point buy: 25points: DMG Point-buy or Pathfinder Point-buy?
Class: I'm either going with fighter or monk, probably human, maybe dwarf.
Zoomackulas Eichendar wrote: Lost a few players recently so I am looking for a couple of people to join the game in progress. What we need is a warrior type! I will post creation rules after I see if there is any interest at all!
Game is under Zoomackulas's Curse of the Crimson Throne if you want to check it out! So drop in and express your interest and please leave your email so I can contact you off messageboard!
Here!
I'm from Europe though and English is not my first language, also I probably don't have time on the weekends, so if that is a problem, just wait for another interested person. (I won't believe it, if there are none.)
Mail: sothal (AT) hotmail (dot) com
Edit: I would have an Avatar that didn't really get into play before. I'd redo him, according to your creation rules, changing background and such.
"Yeah, we got put into duty yesterday after the mess with the goblins." Theruska explains in his deep rolling voice, then following Szaranoth upstairs.
Radavel:
Spot DC15 (1d20-1=4)
Theruska bows to get through the door of the house and follows the others on up to the second floor.

Theruska's done.
Background, Skills, Feats, Equipment, ... checked.
Please check for any things that need a change.
Theruska reporting for duty. ... Almost.
Some things to be done, but most is good.
Question: Equipment? Starting Gold?
The Abilities for Theruska are generated.
