Sadly I couldn't make gencon.
anyone know the company name or even their website? would love to look them up & see what they have to offer

okay, Old fan of ravenloft, New to pathfinder.. the fact that this thread even exists is testament to the love felt by many for my favorite setting.

it seems there's a lot of info here, has anyone considered posting it in the fan-creation section over at the pathfinder SRD or on a Wiki or something, to make it a little more manageable?

Here's my take

if it's made out of the same stock as some of the old D&D screens, it's not worth it, if it's made out of a similar stock the then 4th edition damn-near-bullet-proof GM screens then I could see that price.

I agree with reading the entire book from cover to cover. It really does help. However, unless you have photographic memory, you'll be flipping back and forth through the AP or your notes.

My suggestion, get yourself some post-it notes. Either some of the smaller page marker types or you can up larger ones to make smaller ones.

Putting post-its on each section helps allot when flipping through the AP. (I marked each part of the adventure 1,2,3,4 and marked off Sandpoint and the Bestiary in the back for quick ref.)

For fun flavor nothing beats having minis that look like the monster you are fighting. If you cannot afford the metal goblins, I'd highly suggest purchase of the Paper-minis pdf. Some cutting and pasting required but it gives you plenty of pathfinder flavored zany goblins and if you need more you can always print off extras.

Paizo has so many fun extra gamemastery items you can purchase as well. I've started using the item cards and metal campaign coins in my game. It is great fun for me to physically hand out the loot to the players. There is even a item card pack for the Rise of the Runelords AP.

Thanks. using tidlywiki for my notes, it has served me well for many a year. I already have some painted goblin minis, but I may modify them.... the goblins pictured in the module are frankly... cute in a way, like little gremlins. The minis I have are a bit more sinister looking, and many are riding wolves. I picked up the critical Hits deck, having trouble finding the fumbles at my FLGS. I only know of one "metal coin" product, and it's a bit out of my price range right now, if you know of alternatives I'm all ears.

KaeYoss thanks for the heads up, I might try taking a copy of my players sheet,s and running a "test combat" when they aren't around just to see how it will play out. obviously they will play characters differently than i would but it can give me a general guideline to go by.

WOW!! Lots of useful advice right of the bat!!

Taking all the advice to heart, Reading through the first book now, Going to start taking more careful notes in light of suggestions here.

the rules for the most part in pathfinder seem pretty straight forward, many resemble house rules I used to use in my 3.x games
I'm actually intrigued by the Home world that Pathfinder has set up, Golarion looks like a great place to adventure. I was a big fan of Ebberon before, but never got a chance to play. i like the balance they found between giving lots and lots of detailed info (fluf0 but yet leaving a lot of room for me to plunk down my own creations, a delicate balance that many campaign settings have trouble finding.

thanks for the heads up on the CMB/CMD and the Baddie CR reduction I would have totally overlooked that!!!

Sas said i only have two player,s might make a GM-PC not sure yet, but they are both seasoned players and i think will do fine considering their performance in the past. the guy who hasn't played since 2nd Edition has a thing for swashbuckling, and seeing the "weapon finesse" feat made his week, he rolled up a half-elf bard with a rapier. My wife made a human Fighter, who's a former gladiator/pit-fighter. the bard can take up a good deal of slack in both the magic/thievery departments, so they may not need a 3rd. we'll have to see how it goes. i can always have the GM-Pc show up a few sessions in ,if it seems that they are getting beat down.

Hello all Thanks in advance for any input, advice, and wisdom you might provide. Here's the situation. I'm an experienced GM, I've been DM/GM/Storyteller of various games, since about '89-ish. My real issue is that i havn't sat behind the screen of a D20 product in Almost a decade. My time was heavily occupied with games like Vampire, Tales from the Crypt, Fading suns (pre D20) and a speckle of others. Pathfinder has really rekindled my interest as of late. i have one person who hasn't played D&D since 2nd edition, and my wife who is as experienced as i am, just as player not as a GM.

I've read over the pathfinder main book, and as a group we went through the back-covers of some of the modules everyone liked the idea of the "rise of the Rune lords" adventure path. and I figure a good pregen (of which I've heard many good reviews) is my best way to settle back into the groove of things.

So now i turn to the good people at the Paizo forums to ask for any general advice they might have? any particular pitfalls with the adventure or the pathfinder game system that I should watch out for?

in a way i feel like a total newbie to GM-ing here just because it's been so long. so please any and all advice is welcome

This sounds very much like something I've been searching for for a long time. It's always bothered me that, by the 3.x rules, skilled Blaksmith, 9onw of my favorite professions) not a mediocre one, but one who dedicated his life to his craft (a.k.a. sunk ALL his points into it) on average would take a little over a week to make a dagger.

anyone checking out a ren-fest, and talking to the craftsman there, will know this is ludicrous, especially f were were talking about a non-ornate, basic serviceable blade, such as the type that might be mass-produced to equip a newly formed army.
