OK.

You have a Gundam army, Freehold has a Gundam army, although I imagine his is less practically dressed.

Providing I'm not caught in the middle of it, you two go right ahead.

Oh no. I'm building a Transformers (fembot) army. The only thing a Gundam or Macross mech is good for is as a source for more Transformers parts.

Once we crush Freehold's forces, we move on to obliterate Michael Bay.

Aim for the lens flare.

Al Qadim is fascinating.

I love the barbers, though they function better as quest givers than characters.

Like the dervish priests, the approach to wizardry, etc.

Like Dark Sun it feels different and IS different.

And here's where I ruin it all for Freehold by informing him that 3rd edition stapled Al-Qadim, much like it did Kara-Tur/Oriental Adventures and Ravenloft, onto the Forgotten Realms setting and made it part of that world's canon.
I am aware Forgotten Realms eats other settings in a paltry attempt to make itself more appealing, which is why I sought out the material before its distinctiveness was added to FR.

Forgotten Realms is now Sinistar.

I HUNGER. RUN COWARD! RUN!

I told everyone this but just like with Whedon, noone listened to me!

I listened to you, Freehold.

This is what I remember from my dream this night.

I was spider man (tom holland). I had beef with a kid at school and that kid made a mind control device and placed it on me. It looked like the thing doc ock had in the toby mcguire spiderman movie.

It was taken me over, but earlier I had captured Loki. And I figured, who knows more about mind control then anyone? Loki right?! So I went to loki for help. Offered his freedom in exchange of him helping me. So then Loki got rid of the mind conttrol from the kid. But of course then I became under loki his mind control.

Whoa, slow down!

Feverishly jotes notes down for The Avengers: Restart.

So I know a lot of FaWtLers are into the L5R like me. I'm trying to come up with an NPC for my game (whereupon the players have founded a new Minor Clan, the Leech, responsible for helping the untainted Spiders move into Rokugan again, as well as keeping them from going to war with the Crab, who are absolutely infuriated about the Iweko Compromise).

They've taken to the whole "darkness isn't evil necessarily" schtick, and it's been great, and now I'm trying to throw a curve ball by making a few Spiders...well...as evil as you'd expect them to be. So far they've just been Scorpions on Steroids as far as their attitudes. As part of this, they're going to encounter basically the Rokugani equivalent of a paladin.

I'm not sure if I want to do this as a traditional bushi, or a reflavored monk, or an extremely martial shugenja, but the idea is your typical single-minded holy man, though less lawful stupid and stubborn and more "I'm sorry, but I don't compromise for 'reality' when ideals matter more" type - kinda like Michael from the Dresden Files.

Another idea is a foreigner. The Empire has recently opened borders to gaijin again in my game (Iweko I is considered the most "liberal" Empress in centuries), under the basis that just because one group of gaijin f~+~ed Rokugan, doesn't mean all of them will. (Also, 'cause they need a lot of foreign money to handle the "let's reunite all of Rokugan, including the children of Fu Leng" project, but she doesn't publicly tell that.)

Meanwhile, the descendants of Daigotsu are basically claiming they're the legit inheritors of the throne, being descended from Hantei, and that Iweko is merely a steward of the throne until they reclaim it.

...civil war is brewing in Rokugan...

Replace all the Japanese s&!# with space, laser guns, lightsabers, and douchebags, add in a cynical preacher and a good hearted hooker/double agent and I bet I can milk at least ten episodes out of it.

I prefer exultation or open worship, personally.

I'm just getting started!

Begins bidding for other franchises he can arbitrarily kill half of.

So, the kids finished Detroit: Being Human today.

On the one hand, it was an awesome story. Very deep, with an amazing insight into the nature of humanity. On the other hand, the game "play" was virtually nonexistent; you were just choosing from a set of available responses, and very occasionally playing a few button-mashing games. So I'd call it more of an "interactive book" than a "game".

And I'm afraid $60 for an "interactive book", even one that takes 20-30 hours to finish, is a bit steep.

Which one was your favorite story line? (no spoilers I hope?)

Edit: Although I disagree with literally everything he says, Mother's Basement has a negative review of it.

LOL. You know, when the review starts off with, "I think the guy who made this game is the most unqualified hack in the industry today," you pretty much know you're going to be listening to a Freehold-level tirade about a Joss Whedon movie.

He's just jellin because I blatantly rip off way more s&~@ then he ever could.

Copies Freehold's FaWtL fan fiction, replaces names with The Avengers, embellishes with fight scenes lifted from old samurai movies.

Oh man, Infinity Wars 2 is practically writing itself!

Where's Bendis? Someone's gotta die for this.

So did I!

That's from what I like to call The Whedon Effect.

Yup, that's me alright!

I think for me it comes down to the older I get, the less I value the raw fact of originality.

Id rather have a well-done copy, especially one that improves on the thing it's copying in some way, than a fully-original product that isn't as well made.

"It's not who did it first, it's who did it best."

That and again the older I get, the more I see how even the original things aren't that original. Everything has been done, new works are just doing it with slight differences of context, method, appearance, etc.

So yeah, something being a copy or retread does not bother me at all, as long as the copy is decent.

Hugs Orthos, pressing his face into Scarlett Johansson's bosom.

You, you are my new favorite!

Remind me, is Harry Potter on your extensive list of things you hate, or is this just a general railing against fabric crafts?

I could never hate crafts. They are where scarves come from.

It's Harry potter I hate, you know this.

But you haven't seen what I have planned for Harry Potter!

I think Freehold hates everything. Well, at least most things. Statistically it's safe to assume.
From an outsider's (Edit: no pun intended) perspective, I think Freehold just has a low tolerance for sub-par remakes and directors/companies who adapt previous material without bringing much (if anything) new to the mix, especially if their prime motivation seems to be making a quick buck off a beloved property. That seems to cover most of his Hates.

I'd like to buy the rights to that statement.

These days, ST:TNG would have been gone before the first season was over.

Especially on FOX, as any Browncoat could tell you.

Swims through Scrooge McDuckian vault filled with cash.

Yeah, i'm over it.

Yeah, his ending had Superman showing up, waving his dong around, and then incinerating Batman and flying off.

It'll be much better when I make it The Seven Samurai.

I dunno, lens flair is more Michael Bay's thing. I'm more about the tragically unnecessary but galvanizing deaths.

And ripping off Cowboy Star.

I HAD little hope for this movie... but the news I was hearing about Whedon getting involved is very encouraging. Especially since there were supposedly some massive reshoots happening.

NORMALLY I consider that a massive red flag... but in THIS case, where I hate pretty much everything I've seen and the idea of the film doing a complete 180 in a different direction... This time I'm cautiously optimistic.

Whether ENOUGH of Snyder's plans will be scrapped remains to be seen. Frankly I kind of expect this to be a bit of a mess and actually FEELING like two separate visions crammed into one movie... but time will tell. It's POSSIBLE between Joss taking control and Wonder Woman reviews this ship could straighten out yet...

ugh.

Bats eyelashes at Freehold.

Now tell me how much you loved Firefly and that it totally wasn't ripped off.

quiet, you.

But I worked ever so hard to change the names.

Three words; Seth Green, Robin.

Begins plotting The Flash's demise.

Good, good!

I like you! I won't kill you off pointlessly just as victory is imminent to prove I can.
