The Undying One's page

68 posts. Alias of Radavel.

I am the Undying One. I have lived for a very long time… through the Age of Gold, the Age of Silver, the Age of Bronze and the Age of Iron. It is now the Age of Mortals and I am weary beyond endurance. But I cannot surrender… not until someone worthy comes to take up the mantle.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Having promised to meet again with the others ten years after your last adventure, you can’t wait to see them. You want to be the first one into the Whispering Willows, remembering full well the party’s covenant that the last one in pays the bills.

As you travel through the Nentir Vale, you note the weird climate. It is the middle of spring and all you can see are wintershorn branches. Snow still drapes the Gardbury Downs. The air is cold, the sky is overcast, and every so often flurries still drift down from the chilly white skies.

Ice still lingers in the ruts that dot the King’s Road that winds its way to the broad hill crowned by the walled village of Winterhaven. The alabaster fangs of Cairngorm tower appear behind the snow-draped village. The settlement’s walls and palisades are slick with clinging ice. As you pass by the thatched homes surrounding the village, they seem abandoned. When you enter Winterhaven’s gates, you see that a shanty town of makeshift huts clutters the inner courtyard. The local populace is gathering within the walled town for shelter from the cold.

Winterhaven is not the place you remembered.

Over there to your right is the Whispering Willows. Do you enter now?

Alright, order of arrival at the Whispering Willows shall be determined by the order of posting.

For the First One In

Spoiler:
Amos, the owner and cook of the Whispering Willows, sees you and greets you by name. He says how he has missed you and your friends and how proud he is every time he heard tale of your exploits and those of your friends. Then he stops and says he has a message for you.

He hands you a letter sealed by a dark red wax marked by a stylized “K.”

Breaking the seal, the letter says:

Heroes of Winterhaven,
I beseech you to travel back to my tomb under the Keep
on the Shadowfell. Winter is without end here, and I know
its secret. I am hoping that once again, where I failed, you
can succeed. Please make haste.

Sir Keegan,
Doomed Knight of the Keep on the Shadow

My fellow gamers, let us do what we can to make our planet a better place. It is the only planet we got.

Available Sourcebooks: PHB I and II, Martial Power, Forgotten Realms Player's Handbook (though the PBP is not set in Forgotten Realms, hence, no regional benefits). Dragon Mag is also available, particularly those interested in pursuing an epic destiniy mentioned in the article Masters of the Planes.

We shall be using the backgrounds found in PHB II and Scales of War.

Character Generation: 22 Point buy, as per PHB.

Equipment: one (1) 23rd level item; one (1) 22nd level item; and one (1) 21st level. Plus gold equivalent to the cost of 21st level item.

Alignment: I strongly urge staying away from Evil and its nastier cousin, Chaotic Evil.

Any other matter not covered just ask.

A cold winter wind blows from the
Scourge Mountains, but its origins are
not of this world. And with it come
horrifying stories of a fey who walks
the land. Cold, beautiful, and deadly,
she turns every mortal she touches into
a statue of ice, and she seems determined
to blanket the entire north in a
blanket of frost.
It is the Winter of the Witch … and if
the archfey Koliada is not stopped it
could be the world’s last.

Recruiting 3 more players for a 22nd level PBP. The PBP is based on Winter of the Witch from Dungeon 162. I have no problems if you have that publication.

Rev Rosey, Lazaro and Cacophonik will also be joining.
