Awesome! Everyone is confirmed except Karelzarath, who assures me he will talk to me this evening to generate his character. Once he's anchored in, I'll work up the plot ties and probably throw an opening post up over the weekend or possibly on Monday.

Cheers!

Tell you what, I'll roll a d10. An even number I'll keep Fort. An odd number, and I'll use Presence instead. Deal?

*laughs*

It's your character, man. I'm not telling you what you can and cannot do here. The way the character stands right now is just fine if that's what you want to do. You will be the uncontested combat machine in the party. That's not necessarily a bad thing, either. I just want to be sure that you'll have something to do other than combat because this game isn't going to be one fight scene after another.

I just want you to put together the best character for you.

Hey, I'm a Brujah, who's a cop. It makes perfect sense.

I won't go to his head - he'll just be scarier when he looses it.

The very first level of Presence, "Awe," works wonders when dealing with mortal antagonists. Just saying.

Okay, I'm keeping Fort, but dropping Presence. I'm taking one dot in Celerity instead. The idea would be that through his work (keeping Vamps out of jail, that kind of thing) or perhaps by making the charges against someones childe vanish, he was granted the chance to learn to Fortitude Discipline.

How does that sound?

Sounds fine to me. You bailed some Ventrue's idiot childe out of jail and kept his nose clean. In return, he taught you a minor discipline.

You just had to start with Poleritude, didn't you? Don't let it go to your head. ;)

Wait, I though Potence, Fortitude, and Presence were the clan disciplines for the Brujah. Or was that before revised - I must have got confused and used the wrong book, lol. That would make Celerity the other Brujah discipline, right?

Potence, Celerity, and Presence are the Brujah Disciplines.

Just remember, Brujah are hopped up on "P.C.P."

Potence and Fortitude are both passive Disciplines. They are considered always active and require nothing to maintain. Bear in mind, however, that Fortitude is an out-of-clan Discipline for Brujah, so you'll need to decide where you learned it from. Also, if you want to raise it to a higher level in the future, you'll need to learn it from someone who possesses it at a level equal to or greater than the level you are trying to purchase in addition to paying the normal out-of-clan experience costs for it. Fortitude not only allows you a few dice with which to soak aggravated damage, but also adds it's rating to all your other damage soak pools as well. A vampire who is cut with a knife, for example, rolls Stamina + Armor (if any) + Fortitude to resist the damage.

Presence does not require blood to function, either. The very highest level power (Majesty) requires a Willpower point, but that's it.

Okay, still waiting to hear from Karelzarath and Cosmo here. Then we shall be ready to roll.

EDIT: I just switched to courage 4 self-control 3, if that's okay. Based on the comment above, I wanted him to have a bit more courage, and a little less self-control. He does have anger management issues, after all.

I'm fine with the change, but you're aware that the Brujah clan flaw is that difficulties to resist frenzy increase by 2, right? This means that you have three dice to resist frenzy with and your "basic" target number is going to be eight on a d10. No problem with the decision, but expect to possibly lose control of your character from time to time.

Lighting a cigarette will not force a Rotschrek roll unless your Courage is 2 or less. If someone else lights your cigarette, however, the fire is out of your control and thus that much more terrifying. It will only be difficulty 4, but you will need to make a roll if you want them to light it for you while it's in your mouth. You can have someone else light it away from your body with no roll. Stabbing a lit lighter in a Kindred's face is a good way to provoke a reaction, but at difficulty 4, they're likely to succeed at the Courage roll and let you know what they think of your posturing.

I really doubt this is going to be an issue, but there you have it: The official ST ruling.

Oh, one more thing:

I would like characters to have been active for 50 years or less. I don't think this is going to affect anyone but Jonquil at this point. As for her, this can easily be resolved. In your background, you said that she spent "about a decade" from 1902 learning under her sire and then described a scene in which he threatened to beat her to death (presumably at some point during this time). Your background picks up at 1962, when she "began to chafe under his rule."

Would you be okay with the following alteration: Her sire carried through on his threat, beating her clear into torpor, possibly more than once, and kept her in the death-like sleep for several decades. In 1962, she finally had enough and took off. Work for you?

I can give you some hints. :)

It's common knowledge amongst the Camarilla that the Sabbat claims the entire nation of Mexico as it's domain and many influential Sabbat vampires operate out of Mexico City directly, directing waves of attacks at many Southwestern American cities. Los Angeles has already fallen to the Sabbat, along with San Diego and most of southern California. The wolves of the Sabbat are howling for blood at San Jose's doorstep and tensions in the city of San Francisco are running high as numerous Camarilla elders invest in the defense of one of their few remaining bastions along the West coast.

The Sabbat suffered heavy losses in the siege of Los Angeles and the Camarilla is taking advantage of this setback by reinforcing their holdings in San Fran. No one knows exactly when the attack will come or how the battle will begin but every undead in the city, from the lowliest neonate to the most potent elder, is sitting on the edge of their seat as they wait for the ball to drop.

Lately, however, something has been weakening the Camarilla of San Francisco. A few ancillae of tactical importance have vanished, some found dead, others disappearing completely. Even one of the elders, a noted member of the Toreador bloodline, has vanished without a trace. Has the Sabbat invasion begun already? Or is there some other monster lurking in the shadows of San Fran?

There's your "sneak preview." :)

I still haven't seen Karelzarath come forward with a character concept yet. He expressed interest at the beginning but has gone silent in the days since. Hmmmm...

Hey everyone! This is the discussion thread for my World of Darkness game. We'll use this thread to put the finishing touches on character generation, discuss backstories, and tie everyone into the plot before I get the game started in earnest. I'm hoping to start late this weekend but, given my current workload, it might be next Monday.

For the time being, please throw a post up in this thread to let me know you're still interested in playing so that I know who's still around. Thanks!
