Nothing here. I must not be special enough. /cry

Wow the boards were busy this weekend. I glanced at the PbP and realized once again I have alot to catch up on. I thought the weekends were supposed to be slow :D

Welcome aboard both of you. Thom, glad to see the DM of the other game I am in is here to.

Well time to get reading and posting before my boss gets in.

*fingers are crossed*

Ok guys and gals. In eight days I am going to start my first foray into DM territory. A quick note: there will only be 2 PCs. We will be doing Gestalt or dual class with a few levels advancement.

Any help from you experienced folks would be appreciated.

A quick breakdown of materials and house rules:
PHB, DMG, MM (base core books)
Advanced Bestiary, PH, DMG from Green Ronin (Thanks for the awesome sale.)
the super cool PF character sheets posted in other threads.
City Market Flip mat (Going to use this for the first few battles in Sandpoint)
a handful of miniatures (can you hurry up with those Pathfinder ones?)
a couple sets of dice

32 point buy
2-3 levels at start
max hp 1st level, avg or roll for rest
money and gear appropriate for PC levels (maybe a wand of CLW or something to help out)

I am not going to stress (nitpick) over rules so much this time around. As long as we are all having a good time then I am happy. I figure if the group makes it then we can delve into the rules deeper.

Their starting classes they are looking into are:

Fighter/Wizard
Monk/Cleric

Other than spell failure on the Fighter/Wizard for wearing armor he should be able to cast spells even in Plate, correct?

Sorry for asking such simple questions, but it just came up while I was at work without benefit of my books. Plus any beginners info from you fine folks will be appreciated.

Thank you for unlocking my content Monday when I emailed in. My order was pending then went to shipping. (Which I am guessing unlocks the download content). It still hasn't shipped yet. Just wanted to bring it up so it can get cleared out.

Thanks for the awesome CS and keep cranking out those quality products!

Yes, that is exactly what it is doing. I am on version 2.0.0.11...

Maybe the web staff can look into it, but it just sounds like a problem with FF.

Hmm, something with Firefox is having an issue. I went to http://paizo.com/paizo/blog&xml=atom in FF and it shows up to Jan 2nd like you said. The version of FF I am using is FF 3 Beta 2. Are you using the new beta version as well?

**Edit**
I checked again and it seems to order them out of place. Check yours and scroll down to see if that is your case as well.

Kerflop wrote:

Hmm... I use the Live Bookmarks within Firefox. What link are you using for your feed?

The one I have is: http://paizo.com/paizo/blog&xml=atom

That's the same as mine:

http://paizo.com/paizo/blog&xml=atom

I use the RSS reader in the Opera web browser. The Paizo Blog updates for me just fine. Try deleting it then add it again. I just checked my Google Reader and it is showing the Paizo Blog updates as well.

I read that and laughed. Right after that I checked my email and had the following, it made me laugh to. Today is a good day!

One day a teacher had a taste test with her students. She picked a little
boy to do the first test. She blindfolded him, put a Hershey kiss in his
mouth and asked,

"Do you know what it is?"

"No, I don't," said the little boy.

"Okay, I'll give you a clue. It's the thing your daddy wants from your Mom
before he goes to work."

That's when a little girl at the back of the room yelled,

"Spit it out! It's a piece of ass!!"

Everyone, I'm glad you're all here. I hope you're all having a good time. It's hard to believe we've been going almost 2 weeks. I've been trying to get as much general description of the city in as I can and keeping plot stuff in spoilers.

I'd like to apologize for uneven levels of attention to your characters. Because of the way the situation is setup, some characters will have more to do than others. I promise it will be more even once we start Crimson Throne. Right now it feels like I'm running 6 separate campaigns and its hard to be completely even-handed. It's my own fault...

Anyway, I hope agian you're having a good time and will stick it out until we get to Crimson Throne.

Thom, you are doing an excellent job. I really enjoy reading everyones posts. Makes me feel like I am learning how to be a better roleplayer. Everyone has such great in character posts. Keep up the good work everyone.

Lesson learned; Threats never work:

Threaten Paizo by spamming F5 key from Friday until Monday. Finger now hurts and may forever be stuck in a crooked position.

Email Customer Support at 11:53am, get an email 30 minutes later with my download unlocked.

Yes, you are awesome and I am sorry for adding another .02 cents to your bandwidth bill.

Since you are no longer in need of your PDF, please have someone forward it to me.

Thank you.

Horus Heresy (Warhammer 40K) - Finished, still sitting on the nightstand. I am sure it was just me but I found this book to be creepy. The second book is still upstairs on the shelf.

The Golden Compass Trilogy - The vernacular in the beginning was hard to understand. By the time I was halfway through I was reading it just fine. First book finished and given to son, second about 1/3 through with it.

Softcover PHB - from the Basic Game kit. I have not played in decades and just started some PbP to get a feel for the game again.

Altered Carbon - Very good sci-fi hardcore detective book. Like Dick Tracey in the year 2500 on their version of crack.

Oh and the new Games for Windows mag.

Are you feeling the pain yet PAIZO!?!?!?!

I don't have mine yet.... Damn. I'm dying here.

Me to. Just to make things clear for Paizo; I want my PDF, today. If I do not get it today I will continue to refresh my downloads page until your bandwidth is exceded and the site is shutdown. Do not tempt me. I am willing to sacrifice my F5 key and index finger to rectify this injustice.

That is all.

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised that a bunch of RPG gamers didn't even comment on the brazilian booty on that same page.

Maybe you just failed your spot check ;)

The first thing I even saw on that page was the picture of some womans butt.

Welcome back Sully. I am also sorry for your loss.

To put a positive spin on it; at 5 o'clock when you are heading home they still have 3 hours left!

Yeah it still sucks for us though.

To partially answer your question, Tome of Magic <-Wiki link.

I am sure someone else can help with the vestige question.

I saw the commercial the other day and it brought back some fond memories. Of course I don't watch enough TV now to justify buying it. I hope you enjoy it!

My understanding is, Freezemaw wandered around terrorizing the area for a couple centuries. Heroes went out during this time to find him, but ended up as dragon snacks. Fifty years ago he decided he had enough for now and found a nice big cave in Rimeskull.

Now that I read through it a couple times it does seem a little off. Maybe it was supposed to be 500 years ago when he settled in Rimeskull. That would make sense.

On vacation? The NY (football) Giants beat Tampa Bay and play the Cowboys Sunday. As for the Patriots, I don't even have to check the scores. When they lose, a third of the stars in the sky will fall, and Angels will sound trumpets, blah, blah, blah.

Doh! I was thinking of the Pats/Giants game last week. Which was a good game. Not to mention the Steelers/Jaguars game over the weekend. I brain farted on them being out of the playoffs.

Understood and okay.

So . . . Nice weather we're having . . . How 'bout them Giants . . .

Seems they are on vacation for awhile. More importantly, how are those Patriots? :D

I thought it was from that Ben Stiller movie, "Dodgeball"

The ESPN channel that covers their dodgeball tournament (and a host of other quasi-sports) is called "The Ocho."

It is, but that's not why she calls me that.

I didn't get one either. I double checked my Paizo stocking which came last month, 'twas for naught.

If for some reason a few are found hidden behind a box send one my way .... pretty please with a cherry on top.

Nickname my wife gave me.

From what I have read you only cover two religions in detail: Hettama and her sister Tellora. Is there a popular religion among the Gnomes? If not can you give a description of other religions? My first choice for my Gnome would be Hettama, but there may be a better choice out there.

In regards to the action point, that would be similar to Eberron? A 1d6 to add to any 1d20 roll as long as it is before any outcome is given?

Hmm, ok. Well I have been thinking about this pretty hard. Looking at the wizard or sorcerer class scares me a little bit. It is probably easier to play one than the books make it seem. A cleric does sound appealing though. I did look up the Favored Soul you mentioned and they do sound very cool. So far no one has said anything about playing a healer so I will volunteer my services for that. As long as it is fine with everyone else I will try my hand at the favored soul class. Without the book in front of me there should be no restrictions on race right?

A Gnome Favored Soul sound ok? For background I was thinking about a Gnome living on his family's ship which was attacked by an overwhelming amount of pirates. The crew was either murdered or thrown overboard, my PC being one of the survivors. The ship was taken and turned into a pirate vessel. My PC washed up on shore with no trace of his family/friends. Knowing a healer is no match for pirates he sets out to recruit/join others to bring justice down on them and to retrieve the family ship.

BTW, this is the Favored Soul info I was looking at:

Favored Soul

I will work on this today. However I would like to talk to the others regarding class, etc.

Suggesting that we know each other is a pretty solid idea. Most likely they live in the same general area or Darther has tried to gather information from him before.

Thom, sorry to hear about the post getting eaten. I am pretty excited to get more information from you.

Ok, I did some re-writing for the Urban Ranger I wanted to try out. Instead of posting a big wall of text like I did earlier I created an alias and updated his bio with the info.

http://paizo.com/people/Darthen

Thom, let me know if his background will be a good fit for your campaign. I invision him as private eye. Similiar to the Thief catcher, Juilin Sandar, from Wheel of Time.

Just posting to confirm my spot. An urban ranger is still my primary choice. Depending on others/GM I can swing to something different.

A couple of rough drafts I have so far are:

Darthen – Half-Orc Ranger
Darthen was born to a prostitute mother. She was a lowly wench that served drinks in a scum filled tavern and serviced the patrons any way she could to make ends meet. Living in the slums he quickly learned to fend for himself and make a meager living off stolen goods. When he was 13 his mother was savagely beaten to death. Having no way to earn his keep at the tavern he was promptly kicked out. He barely managed to stay alive living off the streets. After a few months, and about to give up on life, he was suddenly kidnapped. With a sack over his head and his limbs tied down he was taken to a warehouse in near the docks. Once his captors stopped they pulled the sack off and he saw a middle aged man dressed in nobles clothes standing just a few feet away. Thalus explained that he was always on the lookout for young talent to help build his ranks. He offered Darthen an opportunity he couldn't refuse, work for him and live or die. Working for Thalus was not bad once he was properly trained. No longer was he taking fruits off the sellers stand. Now he was working as an enforcer. Breaking into businesses, collecting protection money, and looking for those that crossed the guild.

This would be kind of hard to explain why he went with an adventuring party when he is perfectly happy bashing peoples heads in for a mobster. I really like his background though :) Maybe his exploits got the best of him and he was eventually caught and jailed. He kept his mouth shut and survived in jail but felt disenfranchised about the whole beating people for money situation he was in. So he left from whatever city he is from and came to Korvosa

Something more upbeat but not really describing an urban ranger:

Fenris – Halfling Ranger
Fenris grew up unexceptionally. He spent his entire life of 18 years learning the metal working trade of his father in hopes of taking over the family business once he complete the adulthood ceremony on his 20th birthday. On his 19th birthday his cousin Thaelin came to make him an offer. With their adulthood coming up quickly Thaelin wanted to go on an adventure before having to settle down and work the family business. Intrigued by his cousins offer Fenris packed his bags to his parents protest. They left that day. On their journey they encountered many strange people and places. They had to learn to hunt for food and build shelters to stay dry and warm. Learning the lay of the lands and how to avoid the most dangerous places came easy to Fenris. During their travels the two would temporarily join up with other like minded people and explore the lands. Two weeks before their 20th birthdays Thaelin told Fenris it was time to head back home and take on their responsibilities. Fenris however was not enthusiastic about that. He told Thaelin that he could not go back because there was so much more to see and experience. Thaelin tried to persuade him to go back but he did not budge. With only a week left Thaelin left Fenris making him promise to come back after he had his fill of adventuring.

I can modify this easily to accomodate an urban setting. Instead of hunting and building shelter in forests. They stayed in cities doing odd jobs for a few weeks before moving to the next city.

I am very interested in joining your game. Is this a setting of your own or from an AP? I ask because the description reads like the opening chapter of a good book.

Yesterday I worked on a rough draft for a few different classes I would like to use. Whenever you are ready to get that information let me know. I will be fleshing them out and working on the grammer today as I get time. My posting schedule is very flexible. Most weeks I can post Mon-Fri 99% of the time without a problem. If something does come up I can send an IM, email, or post a message just let me know your preference. The weekends are a little spotty for me though. By your post I do not think that would be a problem.

Brand new pbp'er here. I am looking to get into a game or two and saw your post come up. Would you be willing to take a cherry on your adventure? Since I am very new to any kind of roleplaying one of the core classes is something I would shoot for. An Elven Wizard has a certain appeal to me right now. Another option I would like to do is a Dwarven Rogue. If you are looking for more experienced posters just let me know.

I saw that :) I have enough time to do a few pbp so I am seriously thinking about that. Thanks for the heads up.

Just keep watching the boards. Something will turn up, but new games usually fill up fast. Don't be discouraged if you miss one or two. It took me about two weeks of hard looking to land a game and I think I got lucky.

I'll be announcing a new game later this week to start in January set in Korvosa looking ahead to Curse of the Crimson Throne. If you're interested I'll save a spot. I talked a friend of mine into playing; it will also be his first PbP. My first PbP DMing. Lots of firsts.

Very cool. Definitely put me on the list. After reading the description of Crimson Throne I started thinking about a street thug or urban ranger. I think some of those ideas were already posted as well.

Keep an eye on the Gamer connection over the next few days or so, I should be able to help you.

But if your after Rise of the Runelords AP only then I am sure something will come along. Often it's just a case of hitting the boards at the right moment.

Cheers

Thanks, I will be checking the boards for more info. It doesn't have to be Runelords only, but that would be a plus. Varisa is the only place I have recent knowledge of so it would be nice to stay in that setting. However I am very open to anything really. An Eberron campaign sounds very cool, but I do not have any source books from there.

Hello everyone. I am looking for a pbp game preferably RoTRL. I am open to most settings but I only have the core books.

*edit: Looking back over the post I think I should give some more background info.

I have always been a D&D fan. However, I never got into face to face roleplaying. Deciding early on that I would get my fix from books, PC games, etc. I am now nearing 33 and figure I should really become more social. Plus my son is about to hit 11 and I really want to DM some games for him.

So I have no experience in roleplaying a character (I have started a ranger on ENworlds LEW, but have not found an adventure yet). Having played a lot of D&D PC Games I know the basics of character creation and have created about 10-12 characters in the last month to learn as I go. Without someone to ask questions to it is a little tough though. I really like the Golarion (Pathfinder) setting so far. The RoTRL AP so far is pretty good. With such a new setting I felt that would be a great place to get started. I have also purposefully tried NOT to read through the AP although I could not help myself through the first one. ;)

So to make a long story short read the first paragraph :p

Please put me in tonights batch as well. Thanks for your hard work.
