How about doing a Combat Engineer or Sapper Alchemist archetype? Something that emphasizes demolition and explosives. Of course, I'm assuming that nobody else has done this already.

Both the Drow and Dwarf campaign ideas sound interesting. But after hearing some more details on Tyrant, I am completely sold. That would just about be my dream campaign. Maybe somewhere down the road, we'll see the Way Of the Wicked/Tyrant saga expanded into a trilogy. But I would expect you do a couple different AP's after Tyrant first. Either way I think fan response to WOTW has been quite good and will also be very good for Tyrant, so it could end up happening. There's certainly a lot of different directions that third AP could go after the PC's found their kingdom and break away from Talingarde.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm glad you liked my tower GeraintElberion. Actually, the truth is I got the handle from the Mastodon song "The Last Baron". It's something of a happy coincidence that there's a similarly named Pathfinder module.

I want something like Kingmaker without the wilderness exploration. Just war, intrigue, kingdom building, etc. So it would be in the vein of Game of Thrones. Lots of factions vying for power, epic military campaigns, things like that. Maybe we'll finally see some better mass combat rules then.

The Fairy Tale AP sounds intriguing. My GM would run it in a heartbeat (the same can't be said for Way Of The Wicked, unfortunately).

Tyrant sounds amazing. I love the idea of a sequel to Way of The Wicked. Hopefully it will focus solely on the intrigue and kingdom building, unlike Kingmaker. I'm not a fan of the wilderness exploration in Kingmaker. There's other avenues that could be explored in a sequel to WOTW, as well. Perhaps the PC's are the commanders of the armies of Talingarde as they conquer other nations. Then, once a nation is conquered, they can work on managing it, launching additional wars later and stuff like that. Then we'd have the war campaign I've always wanted. Give us some really detailed mass combat rules (I'm talking Warhammer level of detail) and we're set. Or maybe the sequel casts the PC's as good aligned heroes fighting against Talingarde. But I'd rather keep being evil.

There's something I'd like to see for Pathfinder, and that's some really good mass combat rules. The rules that are already available are alright, but I'd like to see something more detailed. There's already Cry Havoc and Heroes of Battle for 3.5 as well as Warpath for Pathfinder, but I'd like to see something made by Paizo. The other books don't live up to their full potential in my opinion. But they give a good picture of the level of detail I'm looking for. I basically want a wargame you can play in conjunction with Pathfinder; Warhammer without the miniatures. I'd like to see things like terrain, maneuver, supply, morale, all that stuff covered. As well, there should be rules for the effects of the individual PCs' actions on the battle. Something similar to what was done in Heroes of Battle. We could even have some Base Classes or Prestige Classes with a war theme.

There's a lot more that can be done with this. Include rules and advice for gaming out things like sieges, marches and the like. There could also be some rules and advice for handling politics and diplomacy. There's a lot that can be done with this idea. It can be called something like Ultimate Battles or Advanced Battles Guide or something like that. Paizo could even produce products to be used in conjunction with the book. Perhaps a Flip-Mat with a hex grid on it to play out your battles. Ideally you could buy several of them and put them together for a really big battlefield. Or put out some Campaign Setting releases about running wars in Golarion. Include stats for the armies of the various nations, and things like that.

Does anybody else think this is a good idea?

I'd love to see a War themed AP. Give the PC's their own army to command and go from there. Give us some more detailed mass combat rules, and have rules for stuff like supoply, morale, etc. That would be a lot of fun.

A Game of Thrones-style AP would be noce too. Have a lot of politics and intrigue. Let the players enact their own schemes. Or do a something that combines both war and politics.

I quite like The Viking Saga and Guildmaster ideas. The Great Game could be interesting as well.

Some kind of class that combines the roles of Wizard and Rogue.

This would probably have to be an alternate class to work properly. but I'd like to see an archetype that lets the Magus be a Rogue/Wizard instead of a Fighter/Wizard. It would have to have a very different spell list, that's for sure.
