I dunno if you still check this thread Oterisk, but I have an update for your guide you may want to add.

When you talk about the Blaster casting style, you mention that Spell Resistance will be a large hindrance. Sorcerers just got an update that *hugely* helps with this for Dragon Disciples in particular.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/sorcerer/bloodlines/bloodline- mutations

Specifically, the 3rd power, Blood Piercing. What it does is that when you cast a damaging spell, it will let you ignore a number of Energy Resistance *and* Spell Resistance equal to your Strength or Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. It only works a few times per day (up to 4 times per day at 18th level), but holy s*$# that thing is *AMAZING* for a Dragon Disciple, due to the quite frankly ridiculous Strength you can get.

Hitting 50+ STR score while buffed is not impossible at all, which means you'll have a solid 20+ modifier.. meaning your blasts now ignore 20 Energy+Spell resistance! Basically means you are guaranteed to do full damage and ignore SR, as long as you don't try to blast something immune to whatever you're blasting!

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Bloodragers can do this too! So either Sorcerer or Bloodrager into DD, stacking STR for a beast-caster build... Mmm, sexeh.

Favoured Class HP bonus?

D'OH.

How did I miss that? Oh well, thanks!

I probably have to buff him somewhat anyway so my players don't steamroll him

2 people marked this as a favorite.

All I want to know is *why* these nerfs (they are nerfs, don't try to pretend anything else) happened. Some of these changes are just absurd; the Bracer's of Falcon's Aim... Just why? For the same price, you get some 250+ uses from a wand. There is literally no reason ever to buy the bracers now. Isn't the point of magic items to give players the choice to find something good or cool to use? This change just made the bracers so worthless, nobody will ever use them again... S$@!, I wouldn't use them even if the GM gave them to me for free. I'd turn right around and sell it so I could get a wand of Aspect of the Falcon and something actually useful instead.

And what was wrong with the Jingasa? I mean, you didn't even change the most powerful ability it had, the crit negation. Making the AC bonus a deflection bonus was just a pointless nerf; the actual good part is still there, but now we just don't get that +1 bonus to AC anymore (because the vast majority will be going around with Rings of Deflection instead).

And the most annoying one... Quick Runners Shirt. As others have mentioned, this means the shirt is now almost worthless for a martial character, with a few niche uses for a spellcaster (who are already by far the most powerful characters and don't need more stuff). Just... Why? What about the shirt offended you so that you destroyed any useability it once had?

I'm going to be writing down the pre-errata versions of these items so that I can ignore this errata... It is just a huge nerf for no reason whatsoever.

Say, does Gnaeus Gnaru's stats already factor in his pre-combat buffs?

I can see that it does include his Shield spell, but I can't tell if it includes his Bear's Endurance and Bull's Strength too.

Also, additionally, I can't figure out where his HP comes from... From what I can tell, he should have 71 HP, not 79.

The formula for his health should be 8+(7*4.5)+(8*3)+8. The first 8 is his initial level 1 boost... Then 7*4.5 would be the next 7 levels. The 8*3 is his ConMod for all 8 of his levels, as given by his stats, and finally the +8 is his Toughness feat.

This adds up to 71.5... So somewhere, there's 8 HP or so lacking. This conveniently corresponds to a +1 to his ConMod somewhere.
