M still dabbles with the Place of Winds, thru Woodsy mainly, but is has fallen out of the RPG rotation.
IMO, if we want/need it involved someone should create an alternate.

What were they doing when the eldest chicken was slain? Were they defending this place's interests in some other place in some other way which they would care to now disclose to us? If they were not engaged in any such activities I do not see how they can lawfully be regarded as 'defenders'.
They defend, but I am the Defender. I repeat myself -
'This is a place of divination. A place created where Wind Worshippers gather and take counsel. Supplicants may petition for guidance here.
It is a place of service.
The Elder was not the ruler of this place. That one is on a spirit quest.
Do you mean to keep true to the thread founding, and act as steward until the Founder returns?' Subverting the Thread is not an option.
Whilst you are here, does your lair lay unguarded? Or guarded as well as when you lay upon it? If your wards and agents fail against me, do you lose all claim?
As he speaks the boundaries of the thread begin to pulse.
Charles Evans 25 wrote: Smagnavast doesn't care a shred about VT Plantjack.
The warden is currently making him uncertain; he's not sure if the warden is an agent of law or not. If the warden IS an agent of law, and has a better argument than his, he might be prepared to give a little ground on his position.
Laws yes, but laws as set down by the founders of the threads he has been assigned/drawn to. The laws vary, but he isn't assigned to any of the 'evil' threads.
Smagnavast the Black wrote: The King of the Fallarin has not been seen for many days since a battle in another place, to my knowledge, and whilst I had respect, as for an elder, for Brwaaaktor, this thread was shrivelling, even before this outrage against creatures of air and of the air.
If gnomes drain a marsh and start to till fields, the birds must change from eaters of fish or the insects of a marsh to eaters of seeds or the insects of fields, or forfeit the area altogether.
If a world changes from one of peace to one of war, strongholds and mustered armies are required in some parts where once there were wild places.
Respect for tradition should be maintained, but when others overthrow those traditions, and those who established them do not step forward to their defence, I would argue that a new order is both required and appropriate.
A good argument Drake, but this sacred place has Defenders. Its purpose remains true.

"This...this is defilement! How dare they attack this place?!"
He notices the dragon.
"Hello, there. Be you a servant of the Winds?" Being of the Plant, Brother of the Board, what is thy intention? "I had heard rumors...that this thread had come under new management. Hopefully, this is not so, for I am not in the mood for a fight." There will be no fight, Brother. The Thread will continue as founded, or it shall not. This change cannot be forced. Least not by the use or abuse of Board Energy, such as that wielded by the Metal Man that smelled of salsa.
There are Spirits here, in this Sacred Place. They serve the Winds still, as the Winds serve them.
As the Warden speaks he seems to be able to speak better, his words stronger, his gaze more penetrating.

As he speaks the boundaries of the thread waver.
The Warden is being shaped by any uses of Board Energy, specifically those used against the founders of a thread, or the thread rules themself. The more power used, the more he draws to himself.
If you are familiar with the Seeker series, or the books, he is similar to a Mord-Sith. Able to turn the power used against the attacker. In a twist he can draw the power into himself, or funnel it back into reinforcing the thread rules.
Kinda like a dampening field, or living booby trap. he is manifestation, not so much a character.
Smagnavast the Black wrote: As relative calm starts to return, the dragon throws back his head and bellows his triumph. He then notices the arrival of the warden.
You are a creature of function and immutable law?
The Warden tilts his head to the side. Similarly to the motions of a bird. He looks confused by the question.
I am a Warden.
What is your intention?
Quiet as a wind on a calm day the Warden appears at the Palace of Winds. He walks to the scene of the attack. He 1st touches the remains of the Elder, then gathers up the golden corn of divination. The thread stabilizes more, but is unclear why.
What is your intention, Drake?
The visit by the Steel Tsar has had an effect on the Warden. He has grown slightly, the muscles on his arms have grown more defined.
without a word, he disappears.
Charles Evans 25 wrote: What happens to Lynora if a very Lawful and Evil dragon (Smagnavast, for example) touches down and takes control of the Place of Winds?
Not sure, but the Warden would been summoned.

Warden:
** spoiler omitted **
The Warden seems to consider the question of who he is.
The Warden observes the construct closely, looking beyond its metal skin.
He seeks the nature of its power.

We hold with the Green here Warden. This forest is dedicated to Yggdrasil, the World Ash.
In the distance the Warden can see the monumental wood root of Yggdrasil soaring into the sky.
We are on peaceholy ground. You may hunt, but only for sustenance, never sport. You may set a fire with fallen branches, but you must never cut a living tree. Agents of the Black are not allowed here, but they have been known to flout that law...
The leaves rustle as the Great Erl chuckles
All those who serve the Balance, the Board and the Green are welcome.
So, the Thread Laws are Set. So, the Boundary is Marked.
ThreadGiver, what Rules hold sway here?
Great Erl wrote: The leaves around the Warden rustle, but no wind is in evidence
Anger and fear are as root and branch, parts of the same whole.
Anger is the branch, while fear is the hidden root. Yes, this is true.
The Warden seems to be learning.
Great Erl wrote: The grove rustles
You will have to forgive the orb for his rudness. He has suffered at the hands of agents of the Black. He is tainted with anger.
I sensed fear...
Kobold Cleaver wrote: "Hmm. So you are not a member of the Servants, but you serve the Board? Interesting...and bad. Very very bad." KC rolls away from the Board Warden.
I figure his reaction to the Warden is similar to that of an officer to PCs. They're very wary, and can be unfriendly, because the PC/Warden isn't under the same rules as the officer/Servant.
Why do you shirk, Brother?
Great Erl wrote: The Board Warden wrote: Perhaps summoned is a better term... The grove sighs
You have come not a moment too soon Warden. A force rises that corrupts the very fabric of the threads. We feel her siphoning off power as she progresses. Perhaps it is that Power that has manifested me...
Perhaps summoned is a better term...

I have no more power over the Black than most. I do have the ability to affect Board Energy and its use in Threads. I protect Thread Integrity, as set down by the Thread Giver. I have been assigned to several threads.
Kobold Cleaver wrote: The Board Warden wrote: A man appears, sitting in the braches of one of the ancient elms. He appears to be waiting for someone or something. "Say, don't I know you?" Yes.
A man appears, sitting in the braches of one of the ancient elms. He appears to be waiting for someone or something.
No rules. Not much activity. A place of divination.
The image of the man disappears as quickly as it arrived.

A solar powered marquee displays the following messages:
Ground Rules
01 No Tribbles on the premise
02 No Demons on the premise
03 No Demon Lord of Tribbles, in fact, no hairballs on the premise at all.
04 No Automatic Weapons on the premise. Only temple security may carry armaments
05 No Target Practice on meat-bags, fleshlings or other living organic creatures. This include human meatbags and their companions
06 No droids, automaton, golems, or other non-living individuals unless stated otherwise or given special permission by Sunny Godhead itself.
07 No red meat, (i.e. hamburger, steak, strips, etc.) unless served from the temple kitchen and Buffet.
08 No projectile vomiting on the grounds or anywhere else in the temple
No floating baby illithids (I still can’t get one out of my head)
09 All unaccompanied shadows will be expelled off the grounds
10 Undead will be detained and vaporized
Friends, adventurers and companions welcome to your new headquarters in the war against evil and darkness.
The image of a man stands before the marquee, blinking in an out of existence.
Many rules in this place. I shall watch it as well.
He blinks out of existence one last time.
A wanderer strolls along the perimeter of the Oasis, his figure winking out of existence and back again. He mumbles as he walks...
Hmmm...'From out of the mists, a sparkling pool of water surrounded by all sorts of delightful things appears. Welcome to the realm of serenity and peace. This is a welcoming place for all who fight on the side of right and justice to comae and relax. Feel free to drink of it's healing waters and relax in it's cool shady courts. However, no violence will be tolerated here. Please enjoy my hospitality.'
Violence. Caused by minions created by unique means. Board Energy? I must watch this place.
Though Spring Sapling's cleansing has been complete, the wanderer still takes a sample of the soil where a Bone Servant had fallen. He disappears.

It has come to may attention that some Board Thread rules have been ignored by posters in the RPG entries. I cannot be bothered with the mundane incursions by non-RPG entries.
I am prepared to use Board Energy to smite the scofflaws, limiting or circumventing their powers in said threads until such a time as an arraignment may be scheduled. The swift sword of Board Justice has been drawn.
You have been warned, despoilers.
[Evil DM hat on] MWAHAHAHAHA! [/Evil DM hat off] Nice avatar :) This should be interesting... Now I just have to remember to go back to the original thread post to review the Thread set up, before I attack. Ahh, maybe...
RL 3.5 game tonite, so bad guys are free to get in one last attack.
