Born to the clan Diamondshard, Thazyn Diamondshard was destined for great things...in the field of merchants. Diamondshards was a famous merchant family in Janderhoff, making business with other clans in the city and and with the Varisian city-states Magnimar and Korvosa. Thazyn was the only child of his parents, and that came with certain expectations. He was educated in fields of trading, linguistics and coercion. Thazyn was often outside of Janderhoff's borders with his father, learning first hand about trading with non-dwarves. After working for 40 years alonside his parents, they decided to retire and leave the business to Thazyn. Thazyn took his duty seriously, and Diamondshard business bloomed, rivaling the hated clan Blackrock, who were their age old rivals. But at the same time, Thazyn felt strange emptiness in what he did, and in dark nights alone on the trade routes, that emptiness felt crushing. But he ignored it, and did his job. Next time he returned to Janderhoff, horrible news waited him. His parents had died.

It was a freak accident, where a portcullis collapsed on them*. Thazyn stood next to their graves in the Hall of Magrim, and Thazyn felt the darkness take over his mind. They had died for no reason. What he had done? Amass material wealth without making anything that will last. Does anything matter? Luckily to Thazyn, Bulthor Snowcrag, high priest of Magrim sensed these thoughts and walked to him, and said to Thazyn:
"Death is easy. It ends everything. Life is hard. But it gives meaning to everything. Magrim teaches that to us. Even if some dark forces try to wrong their deaths, their life is the thing that meant the most."

Thazyn found the high priests word comforting, and the shadow passed from his mind. He saw the white light glowing from Bulthor's holy symbol, and found peace. Thazyn left the Diamondshard business to caring hands of his cousin Ivan Coalbeard, and took the vows as a acolyte of Magrim. He studied religion, chants and prayers and became a cleric of Magrim. Bulthor Adviced him to left Janderhoff and explore the world, and help those in need of Magrim's guidance. Thazyn left Janderhoff, and became a adventurer to hone his skills as a cleric. Thazyn is devout in his faith, but in his hear he is still Diamondshard merchant, and thus approaches many problems in mercantile fashion. That makes him appear somewhat cold to those who do not know him, but Thazyn is pure in his faith to Magrim, and his duty is to protect the sanctity of life and peace of the afterlife.

*= Unbeknownst to him, the "accident" was planned and executed by Blackrocks, who had prayed to Zyphus for arranging the death of Diamondshards. Job is now halfway done, and Blackrocks know this.
