I like dropping the confirmation roll, but I still want fighter types to be able to extend their crit range. Stretching to a 19-20 seems very worth a feat. The question is: would it only apply to a weapon or class of weapons?

Unless they've changed it since then, one of the earliest developers' articles said that different weapons would have different abilities or styles for the fighter using them. Comparing how much a weapon hits for with a crit probably isn't going to be the end-all for judging weapons against each other.

The Lies of Locke Lamora is pretty awesome. I just started reading the sequel right now, and it's amazing how many ideas I stole from it without even having read it yet. It's a great read too. I highly recommend these.

Ah. I read the plot thumbnails for the first few issues of CotCT but forgot the titles.

Supposedly, HBO is going to do Game of Thrones as a T.V. Series...that would be intense, as HBO delivers the goods when it comes to awesome T.V.

If you need something to tide you over Tessius, read The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch...great great book, and it inspired a lot of fun in the upcoming Edge of Anarchy.

Have to swing by B&N to look for that, not been there as much the last couple months since a certain something (or 2) isn't on the shelf anymore. Also I've either missed out on or forgotten seeing anything about Edge of Anarchy. When/where is that going to be available?

Risia is the ice plane, IIRC. For snow it doesn't have to be super-cold, just cold enough higher up for ice to form. You'll probably get wet, sloppy slushy snow, but snow nonetheless in Sharn.

I like Eberron for some stuff, but I also like FR and GH for things. Each have their place depending on what the players and DM wants :) I was asking not out of being a hardnosed Eberron fan but out curiousity about a hot, muggy, rainy city having a blizzard is all. Heck if I get the chance to run this, most of my usual players probably wouldn't even have it cross their minds.

Andoran (Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Nick,
As soon as I read that Sharn was in a blizzard, I was wondering how that is possible since Sharn is described as being very muggy and usually heavy rains with occasional slightly less heavy rains. Is the plane associated with ice/cold (name eludes me atm) concurrent? I love the idea of the weather stacking on top of other issues, but was just wondering if there was a mechanical explanation that might have been cut.

Try to track down the Night Below boxed set from second edition. Was a whole campaign from level 1 to mid teens or higher. First third is above ground in a rural area then it moves underground and

Spoiler:
Aboloth are the masterminds behind it. Expanding their dominate abilities by hundreds of miles is what they're attempting. To stop them the heroes eventually must infiltrate one of their cities and put a stop to this project.

Kinda an early AP but it doesn't have quite the individual segments. Real good for a group that is into roleplaying and dealing with different power groups both good and bad. Lots of side areas that players can check out for exp or extra loot. Another surprising thing was that drow weren't included in the adventure except as a side trek that could be developed.

Only real problem would be converting it to 3.5 :(

One of the issues in my campaign stems from party dynamics. The outspoken character-actor type is the one with the biggest beef against Lavinia. The quiet types at my table have little real problem with her, but the character-actor tends to sweep them up in his enthusiasm. Maybe saying the entire party hates Lavinia was inaccurate. Most of them could take her or leave her, but the really enthusiastic one hates her so it looks like the entire party does from behind the screen.

I know she has a low wisdom score but I can't recall Lavinia's Sense Motive modifier. If she's picked up on this characters disdain, maybe have her ask to speak to him in private then pull the player out of ear shot also and ask him what is beef is. With out an audience, the player/character might not feel the need to be so bold and might actually listen to her or have to explain himself without having to maintain his limelight image. Main thing is to have her be truly concerned and curious about what she has done to engender this attitude. As for the bailout campaign start, have her say that a friend of hers who works at the jail told her about some people that had a bit too much to drink but aren't that bad, could use a little help and that they also looked like they might be able to help her with some of her problems.

I can see it two ways, really. It says moving in this way does not provoke. By 'this way' does it mean the movement after the attack or is it inclusive of all movement made as part of the attack? I could see how a DM could draw the conclusion that you would still provoke an AoO for moving through the first threatened square on your way in to make the attack (since anyone, regardless of feats, can do that) but you are immune to AoOs on your way back out since that movement is what is being permitted by the feat.

I've always seen it as the defender cannot make any aoo based on the attackers movement. Look at the feat tree to get there, Dodge (AC bonus against a certain target), Mobility (increased AC while moving through threatened squares). Spring attack seems to build on that by allowing you to approach then withdraw from a specific target while not giving them an opening to attack you, at least based on your movement.

(OK. Just had a Nerd moment there. I'm gonna have to read Black's Law Dictionary for an hour for penance, I guess.)

Snake-eyes is still the best imo. First figure I ever got was the ski-mask, goggles, & suspenders. Then they made him a ninja before ninja were everywhere. I lost interest when the idea of camoflage for most of the Joe's was hunter orange. Still had to buy the first of the new comics though after seeing the Comic News issue with the new shot of him holding the sword :)

::shrug:: Maybe.

You know, IMHO, I pictured Valeros and Seoni as one "couple" and Meri and Kyra as another "couple". Not even romantic, just two eople who I would readily associate with one another. Val and Seoni are friends and collegues, and Meri and Kyra have a sort of "Laurel and Hardy" thing going on, where Meri does something stupid, and Kyra has to deal with it.

That's cool. Okay, given the comments here, I'm inclined to acknowledge that 23 hours is not really all that long to remain awake continuously. I will allow the characters to continue without rest at no penalty. If they try to pull ANOTHER all-nighter after this one, though, I'll hit 'em with the 'fatigued' status.

One other thing, slightly off-topic (but also slightly on-topic): Arcane casters. They require 8 hours of rest to refresh their spells. Could a sorcerer, then, rest for 8 hours, blaze through his spells in a furious burst, and then rest another 8 hours to regain his spells slots in the same day? I don't see any reason, by RAW, that they couldn't, but it seems kind of like that might be an exploit of the rules. Thoughts?

I stick with the spells per day, not spells per sleep routine. Otherwise it gets them out of balance with druids and clerics, for example, who prepare there spells at a set time each day. They'd also tend to burn through there spells in the first room or two and say, "ok lets take 9 hrs off and come back in so I can totally upstage you melee types again."

As the DM, I know that the camp is about 2 hours away. It'll be just before dawn when they arrive at the camp - the perfect time to strike at light-sensitive orcs. However, the party will have been awake and active for a full 23 hours at that point and the players are wondering if fatigue is going to be an issue.

Aside from the couple hours they had before the worg brought the orcs, it sounds to me like they have been traveling not just staying awake. I don't know if they ranger has darkvision but I imagine that following tracks after a full day of marching and having a few combats after the days travel would tire them out at least enough that they could need a roll to avoid fatigue.

It's easy to forget that Aasimaar, Tieflings, & Genasi are native outsiders not humanoids so alot of low level enchantment spells don't work so well on them.
