Hold on a sec. Still counting HP. As the column of flame comes down, both monks attempt to dodge out of the way. One springs and spins in the air, passing through the flame so quickly it doesn't harm him. The other reacts equally quickly but attempts to rush to the side. There is no time for that. The slower monk's charred corpse falls to the ground. How is the wolf flanking? Ixius does not threaten, does he? Ahh, he's flanking with Refina who has the glaive. Got it. I can't see where the flame strike could go where it wouldn't get the Earth Elemental as well. Do you? / ---------- / ---------- / ---------- / ---------- /
note to self:
Monk 1 sumul-dul yeodulp The celestial wolf finishes off the monk who avoided the flame. I did assume that you have interacted somewhat in the past four or five hours but in any case you did cast some divine spells. I still don't think these guys are going to get anywhere, but I'm doing my best to make the fight challenging while working with what I have. There was also the time the Sand Sage forced Sykala to describe the party and she described Refina, "New woman is Refina. She follow air like me but not. Many prayers answered." That would have helped. / ---------- / ---------- / ---------- / ---------- /
As Ovirid moves closer, the monk (Monk1) attacks him with two brutal kicks that lessen the force of Ovirid's attack with his shield, but do no damage. The two other monks continue their attack on the prone cleric with their ranseurs. Refina desperately tries to fend off the blades but is cut twice. They know that you need your healer to continue harassing the camp. 19 points of damage to Refina. One of the monks moves 5-feet back from Ixius intending to keep him at a distance. ------- / ----------/ ----------
Is Refina's intention to roll to the square I've marked with an X? Since moving while prone provokes Attacks of Opportunity, I think any character that threatens her can take one. This would allow all three of the monks to make an AoO if they choose. R TUVSS RT RVZOOY WVPVNWS WSZT PRNW OU XOWV RT RS TSVN, WOVSN’T RT. Decoding non-magical codes should be opposed linguistics checks. Code's have usually involved linguistics in part. There are extreme cases such as code talkers. Ciphers can be deciphered using linguistics. Non-cipher codes might require a code book. For example, a code where certain arbitrarily determined strings of characters represented certain predetermined messages would require a code book. At CR 1/2, I think a gibberer should be possible as a familiar. A GM could say it is only available to those with the Craft Fleshgraft feat. As you aren't going to want to take it adventuring when it is being used to grow expensive fleshgrafts, it isn't the most useful familiar to an adventurer but they make the most adorable pets your NPCs could ever want. ------- / ----------/ ----------
You can move 5 ft. while prone, but you incur attacks of opportunity as this is not a 5 ft. step. One of the monks tags the crawling Ixius with his Ranseur. The sorceror rogue slashes at the monks legs like a large, bearded, vicious cat. 11 points of damage. Round 2:

I guess he still has an attack action, but it says he loses the move action. I took that to mean he loses it where the AoO would take place. He can't attack with melee from there. I think Ovirid can get there without going through a square threatened by monk3, but he would go through a square threatened by monk1 as Ovirid doesn't have reach. Ovirid is stopped outside of his melee range. Monk1 fails his AoO. The dwarf attempts to roll under a ranseur but the blade slashes down in front of him, forcing him to abort the attempt. ------- / ----------/ ----------
I already made the monks actions. Round 2:

As far as I'm concerned, Ixius made his save. I saw it; it disappeared; it reappeared. Did a post by Ixius appear and disappear? I saw it but I can't see it now. The monks slash at Refina but, still trying to regain their vision, they miss completely. Now that they can see her, they try again to put her down. One (Monk1) slides into a flanking position and disarms her again. The other (Monk2) uses his ranseur to trip her. A third (Monk3) does a five foot step back and away from Ixius and trips Ixius with his ranseur. ------- / ----------/ ----------
Sykala wrote: Refina is correct in that it was my air domain ability. She was initially going for the one Ixius attacked. If there is still confusion over who she targets than just make it the closest to her. So she has now taken her action, yes? Yeah, we're fine. I was just remembering the 'lightning arc' spell. Unfortunately it is not quite one full day. I believe they are blind until after you take your action. Korian Allande wrote:
I'll think about the Google Docs spreadsheet. Maybe I'll play with it over the holidays. I made passive checks for you to detect the con whenever there was any interactions in the thread or a character expressed suspicion. More interaction with the slaves or would have resulted in more checks. Refina's the only one with a Sense Motive worth mentioning, which is one of the reasons they didn't wait the night out with her: she seemed too perceptive. Refina Frizart wrote: Refina in her turn will make a 5-foot step back and attempt to pick up her spear. I wish there was an easy mapping tool linked to this site. Refina is would move through a threatened square to do so. The monks have surrounded her. The two that rose from the camp came straight out. The one that was on guard duty with her stepped away from the camp to take up the other side. ------- / ----------/ ----------
Round 1:
Ovirid stands up and arms himself in the slow methodical fashion a dwarf should. As Ixius approaches, slipping past a ranseur. A blinded monk hears him but fails to tag him with the ranseur's blade. Korian sprays the area with a disturbing burst of colour. Fortunately, all the monks make their save. This is fortunate for all of us, as it saves us having the discussion of whether "Sightless creatures are not affected by color spray" means the same thing as "blinded creatures are not affected by color spray," which only ends with one of us crying. Ixius needs to make a save. Sykala now can take her action. She initially cast a lightning arc attack at the same creature as Ixius but the lightning arc requires two targets and affects all creatures in between them. Which two creatures are you affecting, Sykala? Sykala wrote:
I meant Ixius. I think he's using 'shocking grasp'. That's either a touch attack or very poorly named. Korian Allande wrote:
They are flanking Refina. Are you willing to get Refina in this colour spray too? Ixius wrote:
Is this a touch attack? You can move into range for a touch attack but you move through a threatened square to do so. You'll need to make a stealth check to do that without them hearing your coming. (There are two on your side of Refina (the two that were pretending to sleep.) Korian Allande wrote: I'm surprised there's nothing in Acrobatics for doing the 'flip up' to get from prone as a swift action or something like that. I mean, even i can still do that move and I'm gettin' on in years and certainly am not a professionally trained athlete, warrior or rogue. Rite Publishing's 101 Skill Uses calls it a Kip Up and sets it as a DC 25. Failure by 5 or more results in 1d6 nonlethal damage. (I assume you kick yourself in the balls or some such thing.) If Ovirid wishes to try this, I'll allow it. Success is heroic; failure is humiliating. There is nothing interesting in-between. Ovirid Thorvirson wrote:
I think it would be two move actions. If you have a +1 BAB, you can draw a weapon from a sheathe as part of your move action, but, in this case, you are picking up a weapon and standing up from prone and doing it stealthily. I think it's two move actions. The liars have used their action slashing at Refina. They did not get an AoO as she succeeded on her check for casting defensively. Ovirid Thorvirson wrote:
Yes it's your turn. But that gloating sounded pretty evil. Are you sure you wouldn't be effected by Refina's spell? Korian Allande wrote: Ya, that's fine boss, Korian's action will be the same regardless of when he goes. And just in case, Perception: 1d20+12 After seeing that 30, I rolled a stealth check to be fair ... First time these guys rolled high. If we add even +5 for being asleep, they beat the 30. Refina's shout awakes anyone with Perception DC 10. Round 1:
EDITED to include Ixius. Not so quick, sleepyheads. I think at the very least, these guys get a surprise round on those who were sleeping. Also, if you are going to get up from prone, they'll have a chance to try tripping you. For now though, in the surprise round, they're attacking Refina. Refina attacks and hits one, who immediately steps back to take advantage of his ranseur's reach and uses it to disarm her. The two others, distracted by her shouting and realizing they would need to move toward the sleepers quickly, miss on their attacks. Refina gets to act in Round 1, but unless you beat 15 initiative, you'll need to wait for their action. (It's only fair after all the planning and work they went through set this up.) Round 1:
Yes, we're all on the same page. The freed slaves are taking longer shifts but they are never alone on guard. Refina only:
You aren't caught by surprise by the slave in front of you nor the two that rose from their feigned sleep as quietly as they could. Beat 15 initiative to act before they do. And, yes, you have a right to feel betrayed now. Bastards. The three ex slaves are in fairly good condition. They complain a bit about the haircut given to them by the monks as part of the disguise. All the monks were bald except for a topknot. The slaves complain that their hair was cut to resemble these topknots from a distance. Up close, however, their hair obviously too short and crudely hacked into the rough approximation of the look. The slaves are happy to take turns watching the camp. Any other notes? Any actions from Refina? You find another spot to set up your camp. The men you saved are pretty sure that they were the only party that searched in this direction. I believe it would be getting late in the day. It's hard to keep track of time, but I think you guys pretty much pulled an all-nighter, attacked the camp, and then moved two hours out, set up a camp, waited for some time, fought, dismantled a camp, moved another hour out, set up another camp ...
