Tariq was born in north-eastern Qadira and spent his early years traveling with His parents and his older sister, Bahiya Al' Shadiyah. Tariq's father was a traveling merchant by trade and was a half-elf but never knew his elf parent. Tariq's mother was a Kelishite whose past she never disclosed to her children.
Tariq and his family settled in Gurat where his parents still live to this day. Just before the move to Gurat Tariq's family wasw attacked by Taldan bandits. Tariq' sister was taken and hasn't been seen ever since. That incident was probably what caused his parents to settle in a large city instead of staying on the move.
When Tariq had reached adulthood he left Garut to live in the capitol, Katheer where he attended the College of Wizardry there. Tariq lived in Katheer for about 15 years before moving to Absalom to join the Pathfinder Society in hopes to learn something about his long missing sister.
