As you swim through the sea of darkness and memories—memories of strongly spiced food, ringing laughter and excess—small snatches of sound or movement break through the surface, disturbing the vision around you. It all seems jumbled at first, but slowly you begin to make some of them out. The first thing you really notice is the pounding in your head, immediately followed by a sour taste in your mouth. The hard floor beneath you seems to creak and rock in rhythm with the pounding in your head.

It takes a while, but your eventually able to open your eyes. You’re in a dark room, not much is visible, you can see shapes hanging as if suspended between pillars. You are accosted by a strange scent—at once musty and salty mixing in your nostrils. You’re able to sense more than see that there are a few other people lying near you. You can hear the pounding of feet on the floor above you. Just as you’re beginning to sit up, several sets footsteps begin to come down some steps nearby.

As the steps get closer lantern light assails you. It’s hard to see anything for a moment as your eyes adjust. Finally you can see several pirates handling saps and looking down at you all. In the center of the group stands a man—his braided beard spilling down his chest—carrying a whip. An expression that could be mistaken for pain, but was clearly an attempt at a smile runs across the mans face. He cracks the whip over your heads and a harsh voice calls out, Still abed with the sun over the yardarm? On your feet, ye filthy swabs! Get up on deck and report for duty before Cap’n Harrigan flays your flesh into sausage skins and has Fishguts fry ye up for breakfast!

Congratulations.

Come on in and say hi. If any of you wish to change backgrounds to include other pc's, now would be the time to discuss it (it's not required in any way shape or form, so don't feel like you need to).

A little about me and this AP. I will running be combat without maps for the most part. I just don't have time to put them together to the standards that I hold for them. There are some maps that come with the campaign materials, and I will use those.

When combat comes I will roll initiative for everyone. After that you can post your actions at anytime, and I will consolidate them into initiative order. You may wait for your turn if you wish, but note that if you do post before your turn and somebody else's action makes yours ineffective, I will not make you waste that action. I will either choose something similar that makes more sense (ex. an NPC you were going to charge got knocked out, but the guy next to him can be charged and is still standing. You charge him instead), or ask you for another action (ex. You had no npc's near you and declared a ranged attack that would draw an AOO, but now someone could take the AOO, I'll give you the choice to re-declare an action).

As for posting frequency, this came up in recruitment, but for those of you who didn't see it: I expect one post a day from each character. I will try to hold myself to that as well. Of course I understand that things happen, but try to contact me asap when you will be away for a bit. If someone is missing too much and I can't contact them to figure things out, I will drop them. I know this can seem harsh, but PBP's are already a very fragile way of playing. Too much delay from one PC can cause others to lose interest fast.

As for my posting, I am a full time student and also work full time at a residential treatment facility. For me, this means most of my posts will come after midnight (when I get off work) PDT. I'm sorry if this causes inconvenience, but I think once we get used to each others posting schedules, we'll be able to settle into a good rhythm.

The idea if running an AP on these forums has been rolling around my head for a while now. Finally, I've decided to start. I'll be starting up a Skulls and Shackles game. Recruitment will run for a week depending on how recruitment goes. However, I do guarantee 24 hours notice before closing though.

Character Creation:
•1st-level
•20-point buy
•All Classes and Archetypes from CRB, ARG, UM, and UC available
•Any race from the ARG, but the more rare the creature the better the background needs to be
•Any non-evil alignment, but lawful PC's should follow a personal code of conduct which still allows them to steal and plunder (remember you're pirates)
•2 Traits (1 from the Skull and Shackles Player's Guide)
•You can roll or take average gold, your choice

No application is complete without background. You don't need a profile, but I would prefer one, as it is easier to access.

I've got two problems/thoughts that have been rolling around in my head.

First, I've been interested in playing in a Jade Regent or Way of the Wicked campaign for some time now. Problem is, there are very few opportunities to even try for a Jade Regent campaign, and getting into a Way of the Wicked game . . . as many of you know is really tough.

Second, I've been thinking about DM'ing an adventure path on PBP. However, deciding on which one to run has been tough. The ones that seem most interesting to me, I would like to to play in first. I could do the others, but then I have no preference as to which ones.

Well, I've eventually decided to try combining the ideas. So, I wanted to see if there was anyone out there willing to run one of those two AP's with me as a player, and I will return the favor, and run an AP of your choice with you as a player. This will depend on my ability to get access to the AP--I have some, and have access to some through my friends, but I don't think we have all of them. I'm even alright if we're running the same AP (yes I do have both of those for sure.)

So if you're interested, let me know and tell me which AP you would like to play in and we'll begin working it out.

I have been running a campaign set in Golarian where our Paladin dropped out. We are now looking for a replacement player (though not necessarily a paladin). Our current party consists of a monk, a wizard (divination), a cleric (channeling negative energy), and a rogue. So as you can see, they are running light in a couple different aspects. Since they have been playing already, I will rely heavily on them for the final decision, but I will make the decision itself.

This is my first time DMing, so I am still developing my DM style. This means I am a little more flexible on rules (if you have a good logical argument for why something should work a certain way, I'm open to hearing it). However, when I make a decision, it is final.

Character Creation Guidelines:
-1st level
-20 point buy
-Max gold for your class
-All classes and archetypes from paizo are open
-All 0-level races are open. You can use alternate racial traits/feats/equipment from the ARG, but cannot create a new race
-2 Traits
-Take 1 free skill point in a Craft, Profession or Performance skill to reflect your background. This will be a class skill

Campaign Info:
Feel free to take a look at the gameplay thread to see what play has been like so far. One note that I would make, is that this campaign was created for some friends of mine that don't have a lot of time for a RL game. So the game starts kind of slow. But the Paladin that dropped out is the person who has been slowing us most.

With all of the above, I will now say, I expect two posts a week. More than that, is great. That just means we can move faster. It will be a little slower than some campaigns, but it is picking up speed.

The campaign is set in a small town in Varisia called Sirathu (if you have previous information about Sirathu, such as from "Guide to Korvosa" etc., ignore it. I have based it in Golarian, but there are changes to some of the smaller towns).

I would prefer your submissions to be in a new profile, but do not require it. I will initially keep recruitment open for a week. This may change if I get an overabundance or lack of submissions. But unless you hear otherwise, I will close recruitment on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Midnight (GMT).

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

The world is full of many things. Most are beautiful. Some are deeply scarred. In Varisia the scars run deep. The Cinderlands are a desolate land of sand and ash. Very few things grow and those that live there are monstrous predators. Near the border, some small towns are able to survive. Most along the rivers.

Just off the Yandabakari River a small town rests. A large white statue in the town square has become a fountain, continuously spraying clean, clear, water. The streets are clean with people running along them. Sirathu appears to be part of the beauty of this world.

But scars run across this town. Ancient and fresh alike.

As you walk down the street to enter The Desert Spring, a favorite tavern of the locals, fearful and suspicious eyes stare at you from all directions. As you go through the door, Jherrine nods a quick greeting. Hers is one of the few smiles in the room. Herlong purple spikes of hair bounce as she points you to an empty table. Several men are sitting around the room absorbed in their ales, barely looking up at any arrivals.

Now is the time to introduce yourself and enter (or describe your own sitting there if you'd likely been there all day) the tavern. Feel free to include a description if you feel so inclined. Once everyone is in the tavern, we will begin.

Here is a place to discuss the game out of character. For now it's mostly here as a place holder. We'll talk more about it later.

The first thing you notice is the pain. Your head aches. Did you drink too much last night? No that isn't right. Where are you? This isn't your bed. In fact it seems rather hard.

You finally manage to open your eyes and when you look around, you see you are in a small stone room. There is one door exiting the room. Your not sure where it goes, but it seems to be the only way out. And hopefully, you'll find some answers as well.
