"How well do you think you can aim that thing? I bet if we tied a blast disk to the head of one of those crossbow bolts it could do some real damage."
Garroth looks at her, an almost-smile crossing his lips. "I like the way you think. Either you or Jax aim; I'll take care of the ammo." Garroth immediately goes to work, trying to tie a blast disk to the end of one of the bolts. As he's working, he also turns to Synatria. "Can you charge these up with any kind of energy?"

Synatria hesitates. Then she shakes her head. "Um, no, I, er, can't, sorry."

Jax of Cyre wrote:
"We wont be defying a direct order soldier." He says calmly to Synatria, believing the point was mute, but unable to resist putting in his two cents.

Synatria glares at him. The hawk, whom she had been petting until now, screeches, looking for the source of her mistress's anger.

Haedric steps away from the barrles. "Definitely necromancy, very strong. Maybe they figured out how to weaponize Animate Dead."

Synatria takes a step back from the barrels, eying them with hatred.

"If that is true, we should destroy them immediately."
"Yes, but how would we do that? Besides, the artificers could reverse engineer them, maybe we could find a way to destroy all their undead in one blow."

Synatria looks displeased at this suggestion, but says nothing.

How many times have I typed her not saying anything?

Synatria frowns as Joyelle. "Reynardine, I don't know what personal issues you have here, but put them aside. It could jeopardize our mission if someone sees smoke and comes to investigate. The signs of a fight are too evident. We can't burn it. It's too risky."

"Burning the bodies has nothing to do with my personal issues. I'm just following orders. You want to argue with the rest, then go ahead. Not my problem."

There is no sign of any emotion in either her voice or her facial expression. She continues to lay out the bodies, carefully stripping them of useful gear first.

Synatria glares but says nothing, fiddling with an old hat which is covered with cat hairs.

Synatria gets a bit uneasy as she speaks. "All we have to do is sufficiently damage this ship, and...cut up the bodies. That would remove any threat."

"No," she says in the same dead voice. "We burn the bodies. We burn the ship. We don't leave them anything they can use to kill more of our people. We do not pile them up first. They burn just as well laid out side by side. Better really."

Joyelle proceeds to strip the bodies of anything useful and lay them out on the deck of the ship, side by side. She works silently and efficiently.

Synatria frowns as Joyelle. "Reynardine, I don't know what personal issues you have here, but put them aside. It could jeopardize our mission if someone sees smoke and comes to investigate. The signs of a fight are too evident. We can't burn it. It's too risky."

"No," she says in a flat, dead voice. "No piling up the bodies. I don't care what else you do with them, but no putting them into a pile."
"Fine, we'll lay them all out. Just as long as they all get burned, it works. We can't afford to let a necromancer get ahold of them."
"Fine by me." All traces of amusement have been erased from her face to be replaced by a cold, emotionless expression.

Synatria looks a bit quizzically at Joyelle. "Why--nevermind. We probably shouldn't burn it, anyways, because there'd be smoke. We'll just damage it a lot. Move the bodies into the barn. We're not trying to fight the entire army head on, remember?"

Synatria fires again. 1d20+3=21, Damage 1d6+0=3

(Female Kobold Artificer 2/Druid 2)

Synatria sighs. "This is a lot for one old shopkeeper." She starts polishing her crossbow, for want of something to do.

Natural 20! 1d20+2=22, 2 damage.
I'm assuming that these crossbows aren't masterwork. I'm a bit confused as to where I got it, though. Do I have bolts other than the magic ones?
don't forget the critical confirmation!!

Whoops.

1d20+2=12 for crit confirm, if somehow successful, 2 extra damage.

Synatria looks a bit nauseas at the dead men, then frowns and straightens up.
"You, changeling! Couldn't you take one of the guards' forms, then go over there and tell them...I don't know...they would be a while! Then we'd have plenty of time to prepare!"

(Female Kobold Artificer 2/Druid 2)

Sorry, I been busy lately. :(

(Female Kobold Artificer 2/Druid 2)

Hey, they gave us that bomb, didn't they! They must've wanted us to use it. I mean, why else would they give it to us if not to aid our mission to take over the towers?
Hey, by the way, if this character dies, can I play a kender? ;)

Synatria nods nervously. "Alright. Which way?

Synatria looks a bit less nervous, but is still agitated. I'm gonna blow this... She thinks.

A rough looking soldier approaches the tent." 3rd squad of the 112th right, good. You have a debriefing with sunup at the command tent. Sleep well ya might not get it for a while" With that he makes his way toward another tent

Synatria picks up three stones and puts them in her pocket. Then she smiles nervously at the others. "Well, at least we didn't have to fight...yet." She looks worried again.

"Just do what you can. Every little bit helps." And with that she follows Jax outside to find out what's happening.

Synatria follows. If she sees any rocks lying around, she will grab three if possible.

Perception (sight) 1d20+7=17. If I'm supposed to do a Search, 25.

Joyelle's expression clears as if she had never been sad in the first place. She shakes Jaxon's proferred hand. "Pleased to meet you, Jaxon."

After hearing Synestria reveal her true age, Joyelle rolls her eyes. "Well, then, Old Lady, let me just say that I have a full five years on you." Shakes her head. "Just my luck I get stuck with a jester."

She somehow in the small space flips up and walks across the tent to he bunk on her hands, and then proceeds to twist herself up into various pretzel-like shapes. Wouldn't want her muscles to be stiff when they get called up for an assignment.

Synastria frowns and says nothing.

Jax of Cyre wrote:

Jaxon manages a dry laugh "Come now Sylvania, don't be so condescending. If i weren't such a gentleman my dear, I could call you're Kobold traits into question." He says, twisting his face into a slightly over-characterized kobold appearance.

He examines the new face in the reflection of his shortsword before wincing and letting his features go blank again " I dont think i can quite pull off the kobold look like you hun." He observes, puffing from the pipe. "Guess it just comes natural to ya." he jests, winking at the kobold

She frowns. "Watch it, you." I've got better things to do than exchange insults with some good-for-nothing deadbeat who's probably only here because his parents made him."

Joyelle Reynardine wrote:

Joyelle freezes up at Synatria's words, all emotion draining from her face. "War is not fair. Life is not fair. Fair has nothing to do with anything," she says in a hollow voice. "Nor does age."

She shakes herself out of the dark mood that threatens to once more descend upon her. Those memories are best left undisturbed. Everyone here has their own horror story to tell. War is like that. No point in getting all emotional about it.
"Whatever," she mutters. "I'm going outside to get some air."

Synatria frowns at her. "I'm sorry about earlier, Joy. I do that to all the people I work with, usually. I was joking about the age thing, too, to make you uncomfortable. I'm only 21. Are you alright?"

Jax of Cyre wrote:

"I'm anyone you want me to be Sweetheart" Jaxon quips at Joyelle, changing his facial features to resemble an attractive Elven man.

He quickly however reverts to his changeling form and extends a surprisingly well built arm looking for a handshake

" The name's Jaxon Lockard Jr. and I'm all up for friends and whatever else you'd like Joyelle" He says, flashing a broad smile.

Little Thing like losing a leg ain't gonna loosen Jaxon Lockard Jr.'s grip on the Bonnie lasses, Nosiree!

Synatria frowns at him. "Typical human behavior. One would think that changelings would be different, but oh, the human traits are strong. Watch it."

(Female Kobold Artificer 2/Druid 2)

Synatria looks at Garroth sympathetically. "You alright there, child? Tsk, tsk. You people are so young, it's not fair that you must go to war like this.
"My name's Synatria Silven. And yours?"

Greetings, Kobold, she says with a nod. I am Joyelle Reynardine, infiltration specialist. And you are?
She frowns at Joy. "Impertinence, impertinence! No respect for your elders! Hmph. My name, youngun, is Synatria Silven. Descendant of the silver dragon Quarl. Former owner of the Magic Lamp, renowned shop for the supernatural. Initiate of the Gatekeepers. So show your elders some respect, got it?"
Touchy, touchy. And all I did was ask for your name. How was I supposed to know that you were so sensitive about your age? Most females are happy to be mistaken for younger than they are. A smile plays across her lips as she says this, with a mischievious twinkle in her eye. I will be more careful in the future, Old One.

Synatria frowns at Joy again. "Tsk, tsk! Such impertinence! How you ever got into the army, I never shall know! Probably just through your looks!" She says, shaking her head. "Such a rude little girl!"

The kobold walks in, frowning. She has a distinctly feminine look. A hawk perches on her shoulder. She nods to the half-elf. "Hmph. What's your name, elf?" She picks a bottom bunk and sits down.

Well, at the DM's discretion, I am done!

Did the Gatekeepers exist before the Last War?
EDIT: If they did, my backstory's done! Will do stats soon.
