Synatria spends the night praying.
Spells Prepared: Orisons are the same, but I'm preparing Obscuring Mist and two Pass Without Traces.
I'm assuming I'm able to write my message.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote: Yes they did. Actions anyone? Do I have time to pray?
Also, if I can get access to paper and ink, I scribble down a quick message.
Synatria turns to her compatriots. She walks up to Garroth. "Be ready," she whispers. "Stay close to me during the meeting. Tell Lethe."
She then keeps walking, as if she had simply brushed by him on the way to one of the beds. She sits there, and prays.
Hang on. How many guards are by the door? If there are less than five or suchwhat, disregard all that.
Garroth Ur'Than wrote: "You wish us to make contact with the Cyran military unit, and then we are paid and leave. That simple, eh? You must also take me for a fool. We make contact, tell them whatever it is you wish us to tell them, and come back here to collect our 'pay'. At that point, we will either be killed, or moved to the deeper areas where none return. Perhaps those are the same thing; I do not know. But I most certainly do not believe it is that easy." Synatria sighs. "You are paranoid and insular, Garroth. Simply because you have no love for the Valenar, you choose to believe that they and those who follow them are the daelkyr themselves."
Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote: "After you make contact, you get paid and get to leave. And as to why we wish to contact them that is not something you need to know." Synatria nods. "Deal."
Lethe wrote: "Okay sounds good so far but what about after we make contact with them?" Lethe asks "Indeed. What do you hope to gain through this?"
Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote: The woman laughs at Garroths threats 'Slave you would kill me would you? Would you like to try?" She says with a flash or red in her eyes "And you vermin! want you want is of little consonance !"
d'Kundarak clears his throat "Lady do over look such insolence. Such unrefined creatures can be useful however' He looks to Synatria 'I think we can come to terms. We have use of you, even better if you have outside help. Less to fall back upon this mine. We could let you go, and pay you well. If you could see clear to do something for us.'
Garroth she is 10 feet away
Synatria nods. "What would you have me do?"
Synatria sighs. "Miss elf, please do not throw another fit over his words. Friendship or no, we are alike in that we do not want our minds read with such disregard."
She looks at the dwarf. "You seem reasonable. Be fair in your judgments. Do not allow a premature execution."
Synatria closes her eyes and starts praying again. She is, however, apparently poised to dodge any attack which may come.
If I go on total defense, does it help my Reflex save?

Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote: The woman nods and the dwarf speaks "Very well shifter, I may have use for you then"He turns to the Garroth and Synatria, seeming to pay little mind to Lethe and her sister. "I will ask you two one last time. If you do not answer me then I will be forced to allow the lady here to rip what I want to know from your minds, a very plainful and unpleasant experience I have been told. Come no lets be sensible shall we?' he says Synatria stops praying and looks up. "I am an initiate of the Gatekeepers," she says. "I am here to stop unnatural threats. If I can earn a little coin to help fund those efforts, so be it. I am a Cyran, but I have no particular loyalty to any nation, and I would certainly not give up my life for the rebel cause. I would be willing to serve a reasonable master, provided my necessities are preserved. The nest, in particular." She looks expectantly at the dwarf.
Everything she's saying here is true, so it shouldn't show up as false on any spell.
Synatria shrugs and bows her head, though there is a reptilian grin on her face. She begins chanting in an odd language.
Will save 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Dang, my worst save...well played, human, well played...
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Plus an AP: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Spellcraft to identify spell: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote: 'Interesting " The woman says "They all are unreadable to me. The shifter is angry, but the other two are resisting.' She looks to Lethe seeming to take her in with her violet eyes. 'No, need to be so angry dear, why don't you tell use why you are here? And just who your friends are? "
Lethe give me another will save
Synatria looks annoyed. "Enough of that. Look at you bunch of cowards. Terrified of a bunch of rebels so much that you feel the need to use magic on slaves to make sure we aren't members of the big bad resisters." She adopts a terrified look. "Look out behind you! It's a rebel! Run for your lives, run!" She pantomimes running away with very exaggerated movements.
Bad dot! Get back here!
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
I'm assuming that makes the save. Otherwise, I'm scared.
Synatria glares. "Enough of that." She turns to Lethe. "Just thought I should remind you of something, Lethe. These are the ones who beat your sister. They hurt her. They did her great injury. Remember that."
Trying to distract her and hopefully help her resist whatever this is.
Synatria rolls her eyes as she speaks to d'Kundarak. "Whose doing was this? Your guards?"
Synatria sighs, though she doesn't seem all that distressed. "This will not be good. Should we help her?"
Lethe wrote: Nah I'm good
Assuming no one stops her lethe throws Synatria against the wall and holds her there with one hand.
Synatria shrugs. She does not seem interested in fighting back any more.
Lethe wrote: "Stay out of thisss" Lethe growls at Garroth as she continues to try and pummel Synatria Dang, nice CMD.
Suddenly, a strange thing resembling a giant, fleshy mosquito appear. It buzzes over and lunges at Lethe with its proboscis.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
If stinger hits, then Grapple attempt: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
"Get off, you fool, or we'll both die!" Synatria shouts.
Attempting to break grapple: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Also, Lethe is dealt 1 Con damage.
Disease chance: 1d100 ⇒ 43. On 10 or below, Lethe will gain a disease, DM's choice which one.
Lethe wrote: If im not mistaken it is a concentration check to cast whilst grappled. Also would Synatria not have had the nest taken off her earlier?
Initiative
1d20 + 3
I assumed it looked too minor to be taken away.
The Grappled condition says that you can do anything you could do with one hand, generally, such as casting a spell. But you're right, I do need to make a check. One sec...
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
And with a DC of 10+your CMB (9)+spell level (1) that barely makes it.
When Synatria is hit, she lets out a small gasp. And then her eyes glow silver. Her crest perks up. And her scales shine.
"That was a threat."
She clutches her nest, and prays.
Casting Summon Nature's Ally. A stirge will appear next round.
Speaking of rounds, I guess we should roll Initiative, shouldn't we?
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Lethe wrote: Lethe Ignores the Kobolds words and try's to grab her.
Raging Grapple
1d20 + 9
Synatria does not resist, and she seems dulled to the pain. She keeps talking, even as she is brought to the ground. "You idiot. You will be sent down, deep down, and you will never find her. All I told them was that we sought her. I never told them anything important. They don't know about Them. They don't know what is going on. But if you don't stop, you will die."
Lethe wrote: Synatria Silven wrote: Lethe wrote: Lethe turns on Synatria stamping over and towering over her "Kobold I should beat you to within an inch of your life and beyond for what you did back there" Leteh cracks her knuckles for emphasis. Synatria turns to Lethe. "Let me make something clear, you idiotic lycanthrope. One truth does not make a bloody confession. Now shut up." "Thats it..." Lethe hisses as she lunges for Synatria Synatria makes no attempt to dodge. She stares at Lethe impassively. "Don't."

She turns to Garroth. "Talk like this can get you sent down. Don't peddle your life so cheerfully. Somebody might buy it."
Synatria shrugs. "Maybe it beats the war above."
Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote: "The deep tunnels" The man says "They like to take the strong ones, or the ones with fight below. We don be seeing them no more.' The others in the group nod in agreement Synatria shrugs. "We better act weak, then. Good advice."
Synatria tries to work her hardest in the mine, to earn favor.
Profession (miner)1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
She also keeps an eye open for shifters. Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Synatria also looks around for somebody resembling a shifter or with Lethe's appearance.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Lethe wrote: On a side not what Ig affect does having our feet shackled have and is it just our feet? "Brutal war..." Synatria murmurs. "Yes, I think I understand," she says, louder.
Lethe wrote: "......" Lethe continues to stare at Synatria The gray kobold shrugs again. "I think the answer to your question is 'yes'."
Lethe wrote: Lethe just looks at Synatria as if she had spontaneously grown a second head "Have you're wits completely left you?" She asks She shrugs. "Tricky question there. But we're eight hundred feet below the surface. Do you realize how far that is without magic? This mine must be very old, much older than I'd expected. I thought this was just a temporary arrangement. Teach me to fall asleep in history class."
Synatria raises an eyebrow. "Interesting. This mine is very advanced. How long did it take to get so low underground?" she wonders aloud.
After a few moments, Synatria seems to calm down. She opens her eyes, her breathing slows down, and she looks about disinterestedly, trying to remember what she had learned of underground terrain. Knowledge (nature) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
How far below ground are we?
Lethe wrote: Lethe's shoulders drop as the guards approach any thoughts of putting up a fight now gone since they now know why she is there. Turning to Synatria Lethe hisses "You better hope they keep us apart traitor or I will rip your scrawny head off." Synatria is still whispering her prayer and doesn't seem to have heard Lethe.
Also, I wasn't aware she was betraying any plans. She never told them that they had purposefully been captured or anything. But it might seem like it from Lethe's perspective.
Also, I'm preparing the following spells the first chance I get (which may come later):
Know Direction, Stabilize, Purify Food and Drink, Create Water
1st Level: 3 per day (Cure Light Wounds, Calm Animals, Charm Animal, Obscuring Mist
Synatria closes her eyes and starts muttering a prayer.
"Wait!" Synatria says desperately, looking a bit panicky. "We came here looking for her sister." She points to Lethe. "Have you had another shifter like her here recently?"
He is taking deep breaths, and her eyes dart from side to side.
Haedric Korvin wrote: Yes I do, fortunately enough. I assume you yelled that while you were being led into the mines so I could actually hear it?
Haedric passively watches the prisoners being led off.
Uh, anyone remember the next step in our plan?
We hadn't actually reached the mine yet. See Seeker's post.
I came up with one, but I can't really explain it any more than I already have.
Synatria looks up and glares harshly at her captors. She says something in a strange and yapping tongue.
Draconic:
She looks long and hard at Haedric and raises an eyebrow.
I'm assuming that, as a wizard, he speaks Draconic. Here's hoping I'm right.
Perception 120 + 7 = 127
Synatria keeps her eyes firmly locked ahead. Assuming they let her keep her cat, she murmurs calming words in in a strange language to Annin, who is trotting at her side and watching the elves who mysteriously appeared out of nowhere (the transformed party members)with suspicion.
Just in case any of the elves somehow speak Druidic:
Synatria glares at the elves.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote: As Haedric , Joyelle and Jason get dressed as elves, complete with weapons Lethe, Synatria and Garroth become more prisoner like.
Ok before I move this a few things I need to ask, 1 when are you going? That day, the next morning, midday? at nigh? Synatria are you going as something besides a Kobold? The three horses ya got only two are Valenar riding mount the other is a pack horse and anyone that knows horseflesh will know it. Anything else you would like to do before raiding the mine?
I'm going to be a kobold. May as well make them wonder if Dargunn is involved.
Synatria looks regretful. "I need somewhere to put Annin so she doesn't follow me."
Garroth Ur'Than wrote: "I think I prefer Haedric's suggestion. Mine workers would be much easier to pull off than all of us as elves. Another suggestion: is there any way we could stage a distraction? An explosion on the outskirts of town might draw any guards out; or some of them any way. Then we sneak in." "An explosion could also put them on the alert. I think Lethe is right here. Everybody who can speak elven should transform and pose as guards. The rest of us pose as prisoners. We all enter the mines, and then we unleash havoc."
Synatria shrugs. "I don't, and I'm too small, anyways. Perhaps I could be a prisoner as well?"
Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote: I think we are dead I dunno, give it another day. I lose my '# new' for some reason, that kept me from seeing this.
I blame FAWTL.
Synatria takes a step back. "We all have issues," she murmurs. "We all have mourned the loss of a friend, or family. I am sorry for your loss. And I wish we could immediately set off to find your sister. But our departure will have to wait. We can't just go barging in without a plan."
Lethe wrote: "Well lets look at the evidence shall we? You're dumped in the middle of nowhere the meeting place is conveniently ambushed and the resistance base you were supposed to head to is conveniently raided and destroyed. They even went as far as leaving a message and I know no one in my group would have told them anything about this place so please explain?" Lethe seems to get angrier as she speaks "Lethe, you're in mourning. I get that. But try not to say anything you might regret, some of the people here are a bit temperamental," Synatria sighs. "Look, for all I know, this is a suicide mission. I don't really care. I'm just trying to survive this idiotic war."
Lethe wrote: "I think you're command disagrees with you. I mean they just happen to send you out to the middle of no where as far away from them as possible that doesn't strike you as a bit odd?" Synatria shrugs. "Maybe. But every soldier has issues. Doesn't mean they aren't useful. We're the Blackcaps. They aren't gonna throw us away just because we're nuts."
Joyelle Reynardine wrote: Synatria Silven wrote: Joyelle Reynardine wrote: Garroth Ur'Than wrote: Garroth also looks at the exchange between Lethe and Joyelle with a frown. "OK, what's the note passing about?" he asks in an irritated voice.
I don't think Joy has done this in front of the group yet, right?
Nope. She's gone quiet for periods of time, but never when it was essential for her to communicate.
Joy pats her throat and shakes her head looking pretty frustrated.
Synatria co cks her head. "Sore throat? That happened suddenly." Joy sighs and shakes her head. She takes the note from Lethe and points out the last part for Synatria. Synatria raises an eyebrow but says nothing.

Synatria watches Joyelle passing notes, looking suspicious.
