"Wait! What Others?"

Skater wrote:

"Disc? Was that the vehicle they were firing those missiles from?" Skater asked looking up looking even more unsteady as Supergirl reappears.

"I don't know, when I came upon the scene I saw the fires, some flaming guy heading towards the aquaduct, a silver disc flying that direction as well. I thought I would try and sort the problem out. They were using the disc to fire missles? I was thinking that they were chasing the disc. Shows what I know. Oh, by the way, I'm Supergirl, who are you? Are you in need of medical attention?"

Using my x-ray vision I will scan the bodies of everyone present looking for injuries. Please let me know if I see any.

I'll dust off my skirt. Once I feel like I got my full strength back I'll prepare to fly back to the others, as I leave the ground I Mumble to myself: "Witch!" Once I return to the aquaduct and see the others I say:

"Somebody blindsided me and she got away. Is everyone allright here? Where's the silver disc?"

in the time it takes you to realise the flaming flyer is down you've overtaken the battlesuited woman who promptly backs off your hearing can hear her swearing vehemently so she seems to be really scared as she tries vainly to try and continue towards the port.

Supergirl's Response
Unless I learn something valuable from my Intuition roll (not likely on a white result), I shall take my cape off and attempt to wrap it around her in an effort to control her positioning, then if successful, return her to the others at the aquaduct.

I have to admit Identity Crisis annoyed me the most as everything from then on seemed too much like a Columbo episode except I don't mind Columbo I just expect better from Dc and Marvel who should have known better with the mess called Civil War.
I did like how they introduced Supergirl though although I assume they wanted to mess with Kara's background because they wanted to leave their own mark in the Superman mythos even though it really wasn't needed but thats just me, you might want to have your version have a different costume or even hero identity if you want the Darkseid bit left in since he'd hardly miss Superman's cousin since her return but thats up to you.

Supergirl's response:
Yes, I don't think DC should mess with such things, it just makes...welll a mess of things. I'm ok with the new background as compared to Kara's original one. I know I don't want a knew costume though. I got posters of supergirl all over the gaming room and it would just somehow seem wrong. I would like to keep the Linda Danvers identity as well as it matches up with my general thought pattern of the character. I can dispose of the Darkseid thing if you like since I as a player don't know what happened during that time anyway, though I don't understand why it would matter. If he comes back for me again I'll give smack him around like the little ten-year old boy he really is. After that, I'llpick him up by the ears and send him to school where he can learn something for once. And if he even thinks of messing with the teacher or other students, I'll put him in time out! Seriously though, if Darkseid is a problem for any reason, I can let that pass, either that or we can say she took the name Supergirl and put on the costume BEFORE he thought it would be a good idea to nab me. Your thoughts?

Make an intuition feat roll

Supergirl's response:
Well,I'm not really sure how to but I'll try. I rolled % and received a 21. My Intuition is Remarkable so that gives me a white result.

With the flaming person no longer appearing as a threat, I shall fly after the fleeing battlesuit persona and try and catch up with them.

I read some of the things that Valegrim posted for me and I think that it would be easist to assume she just got back from training with Wonder Woman. What happens after that would be this PBP game. That seems the easiest to follow. Based on what I read, Kara was discovered in Gotham City by Batman and she claimed to be Superman's cousin. Apparently she is choronologically older as her spaceship left Krypton before Superman's. Since her spaceship was caught in green kryptonite she was held in suspended animation and therefore didn't physically age, thus she appears quite young. Batman was distrustful of her and Superman accepted her story. Somehow, she ends up training with Wonder Woman and the Amazons. Sometime after that she is captured by Darkseid and brainwashed into becoming the leader of the Female Furies. Rescued by Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, she then assumes the role of Supergirl.

This seems pretty easy to follow, the only thing I would like to get some answers on are missing details. 1. Why was she in the spaceship which fled Krypton? 2. How did she get to Gotham City and what's the story behind Batman finding her? 3. How did she get around to training with Wonder Woman? Did Superman or Batman arrange this? 4. What happened in the Darkseid adventure, in which he captured her and brainwashed her to become the leader of the Female Furies? Who are the Female Furies? I like the character a lot, I just never understood the entire DC Universe upheaval. I'm still trying to piece together the Legion situation. It's difficult trying to grasp that decades of comic stories were thrown out the window "as never happened"! Does anyone have the answer to the above questions? I would say if I can find out the answers to these questions, it would be best to pick up the character right after she is rescued from Darkseid's grasp and first don's the Supergirl costume.

So exactly how long have I been in the Super Hero business and is there anywhere I can go to get a accurate background on this character. DC has changed so many things I don't know what is accurate anymore. Did I die? hasn't happenend yet? Never happened? What about the bottled city of Kandor, does it exist and do I still come from there? When did I get out? Did Superman get me out? How about being adopted by the Danvers? Did that happen, if so, how old was I?

Is there water in the aqueduct and if so, how deep is it? Is there anyone nearby the fleeing battlesuit person who might be able to prevent their escape?

Guess I'm still trying to picture the scene, that's all, carry on!

Does it appear as if the flaming menace has been reduced in power after my freze breath? I'm uncertain what the red and blue effect is, from me? Something else?

"You shouldn't let your temper flare like that".

I shall spend 20 karma and attempt to freeze him with my breath. Perhaps that will cool him off.

[QUOTE

That's odd I thought Super Breath was pretty much automatic will double check but it seems its a power she hasn't developed yet, doesn't mean you can't pull a stunt using Hyperspeed though

Let me know if I can, if I have to try it as a stunt, let me know what to do.

I'll continue to block blows from the flier and see if he realizes that his efforts are in vain.

"Perhaps you need to cool off for awhile so we can sort out this situation"

I know that in previous comics Superman had a superbreath and could blow really hard and even freeze things by instantly cooling them off. Such powers were not on the character sheet. I'm assuming such things are unavailable but I thought I'd ask anyway. Is there any water in the aquaduct? If so how deep is it? Is this guy on fire so that I might be able to dowse out his flames? If these are not options, I might like to grab him and throw him into the ice wall to cool him off. On my next turn.

The Scene:

As Supergirl takes off and the others follow...

Ok, a bit tough to decipher what is going on, who is who, that sort of thing. I got the impression that the flaming flyer is attacking at someone who is up against a wall of ice and unable to go any further. What does this person look like? It sounds like the fireball flyer and faceplated iceperson are working together? Does this appear accurate?

Hovering nearby is this silver disc. I'm a bit confused about the person looking into the aquaduct.

Since I'm uncertain who is who, I think my best option is to try and break the fight up.

If space permits, I shall fly in between the attackers and their target. I shall attempt to "take their blows" relying on my invulnerability to protect me. I'd like to move back and forth and stop as many attacks as possible. If I understand things correctly this should place me between the fireball attacker/ice generator and whoever they are attacking (which I'm confused on), and coming up behind them will be the individuals I just met outside side. This should box them in.

If I don't understand the scene correctly, let me know.

I'll make some changes on the Talents then.

Question: At what age is the character in her life? High School, College, out of College? How established of a Super Hero am I? Also is it permitable to add to contacts...those listed were Batman, Superman, and Superboy. Can I turn Superboy into the Legion of Super Heroes, as that's where she would know Superboy from anyway?

Batman's fine although you won't know his secret identity, also Superman but Superboy is unlikely since he's currently deceased and the only other one is a villain.

The Superboy associated with the legion is in supergirl's future depending on which version you're referring to and as I remember it they tended to make sure visitor's from the past didn't remember their visits to the future anyway.
The one mentioned by Maelidek is the one introduced in the Superman and Batman series who arrived following the destruction of a huge Kryptonite meteor that was heading for earth.
She's barely begun her career so she's as new at this as the others.

I've gotten back into the Legion just over the past 2-3 years, so I haven't been able to sort out that DC mess. I missed the whole Infinite Crisis thing (the first one and the current one) so I'll just assume that Supergirl's experiences have been limited to the 21st century.

I'd like to pass on Batman as a contact because if he is still going to be a central figure in this PBP I think it would be more fun to get to know him rather than assuming I already do.

So Superman's ok as a contact though?

Can I do anything with the bottled city of Kandor? Did Supergirl know anyone from there? How long ago did I get out? I'm confused on her past? When did she get out of the bottled city and how? What about the whole adoption by the Danvers? I don't know what is real history and what was eliminated by DC. Is there somewhere I can go on the internet to read the "real or current" history of Supergirl?

Help?

Looks like I got a 10 then.

Select the talents you fill fit what you see the character as possessing.

The limits listed in the book allow you to reduce your resources rank by 1 to add an additional talent but I'd recommend not reducing resources below Poor.

You might want to pick up Student which i believe is a talent but what you feel best will be fine.

I'll make some changes on the Talents then.

I rolled an 8, my intuition is Remarkable.

"It would seem that the burning buildings contain no citizens in peril nor the freeway. Swooooosh.........The aqueduct requires my attention."

I immediently fly towards the aqueduct while using my x-ray vision to see what the current sitation is.

Still wondering if I see or hear any signs of distress within the fire (also scan the destruction of the freeway) after utilizing both my x-ray vision and super hearing? If not, I shall use my x-ray vision to scan the underground area where the ship was last spotted in order to prepare a resuce.

Concentrating, Kisaku briefly says, "Merely a statement of fact, babe."

Tunes into Kisaku's heartbeat to realize he's probably telling her the truth!

"Rapid heartbeat, accelerated breathing, dilated pupils, perspiring, hmmmmm....Is that anxiety over the emergency or are you glad to see me? Now about this incident, who were the people in the tunnels and how did the fire start?"

Kisaku wrote:

Kisaku looks Supergirl from head to toe, appreciatively. "Hey! You're hot!"

I hope that wasn't a pick up line, because if it was you failed miserably. What's the situation here? I noticed the disturbance as I was flying home.

Turns her right ear towards the surrounding area to see if she can pick up any signs of distress.

I'm in the process of deteming talents. Being that I am pretty unfamiliar with the rules (haven't played since 1988, and even then just a little bit), I have a question about talents.

The book says (Players Handbook, page 10, Generating Talents):
Generate the number of Talents on the Powers, Talents, and Contacts table. The number before the slash is the initial number, while the second number is the maximum of initial Talents. For each talent gained, roll on the talent category and choose one talent in that category.

I rolled an 88%, so I got a result of 3/4. What I'm confused on is what they mean by initial number of talents as compared to the maximum initial talents. Does this mean that I have 3 talents but later on in the game I can acquire a 4th talent? The use of the word "initial" is confusing in the text.

Assuming that I'm suppose to have 3 talents, this is what I came up with on random die rolls:

Roll 1: Professional Skills/Business Finance
Roll 2: Professional Skills/Engineering
Roll 3: Scientific Skills/Biology

From what I know of the character (which isn't a lot), I believe she did some acting later on a soap opera.

Using the Wikipedia I found this information:
In her secret identity, Linda attends Midvale High School as Linda Lee Danvers. In later years, after graduating from Stanhope College, she changes careers several times, holding jobs in student counseling, news reporting, and acting in a TV soap opera titled Secret Hearts. She also attends college in Chicago. Kara has many boyfriends, including Richard (Dick) Malverne, Jerro the merboy from Atlantis, and member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, Brainiac 5. She does, however, shun serious commitments, putting her super-career first.

Would it be permitable to adjust the Talents to match the above a bit better? Also at what period of time are we looking at for this character in regards to where she lives, secret identity, that sort of thing. If I maintain a secret identity is there something in the Marvel Rules to faciliitate this aspect of my superhoer career?

Dropping down from the sky, arms outstretched, with one knee up, I land next to the two figures speaking with one another.

"Supergirl at your service. Anything I can do to help?"

As I speak, I scan the buildings with my x-ray vision for unseen victims trapped in the fire. If I do not notice anything that immediently requires my attention and if the situation seems to be under control I shall turn to converse with those I stand with. If something more important catches my eye I plan to whisk off, leaving introductions for later.

Let me know what it's alright to start.
