Thanks everybody, I thought so as well, but wanted another opinion. It's not for me, its for one of my players!!!

Simple question, as stated in the subject.

Can a Monk use both the Deliquescent Gloves and a Forge fist Amulet at the same time with his or her unarmed strikes?

The links if you want to check them out!

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

In an attempt to be succinct let me put it this way, I really liked this product. It is a solid 97 pages of gaming goodness, full of ideas, very well written and with great layout and cartography. Illustrations are sparse but appropriate, of excellent quality and best of all very flavorful.

I would love to support this! Count me in...

hogarth, thanks for the feedback… I’ll look into it. It goes so well with the character concept I may give it as a bonus.

Hello fellow Pathfinder RPG players… Since you were so helpful the first time around, I’m posting here once more. I’m getting ready to start my new Pathfinder campaign next week, and have some players that want to use some 3.5 rules/characters/classes with Pathfinder. I realize the backward compatibility is in effect and I have some ideas how to work with these, but since some of you have been using the system longer I’d like to get your feedback and ideas on this, and see if anyone has worked on this.

One player wants to run a Goliath Dragon Shaman. Goliaths seem to be ok to use as a race, when compared to the Pathfinder Beta races, if a little overpowered. What about the Dragon Shaman, it seems to work ok up to level 11, but after that it seems to be that the class is lacking when compared to other Pathfinder classes. Anyone done any conversion or have any ideas?

Another player wants to run a Tibbit that appeared in the Dragon compendium vol.1, seems like a fun class, and I think I can modify the stats. I’ve never had a tibbit in a campaign, any suggestions?

And lastly, a player wants to create a Monk and take the Whirling Steel strike from Eberron that allows him to use Long Sword with his Flurry of Blows. How does that mesh with the new Monk. I’ve seen it on paper but have not see in run on the table.

Your ideas and feedback is welcome! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Wow, another long time player! I started way back in the blue box days and then played a LOT of 1st edition but I dropped out for 2nd and 3rd edition and only recently got back into RPGs because of Pathfinder. But you've been running a continuous campaign for 15 years! That's very cool.

Do you have players who have been with you the whole time?

Dru Lee Parsec, I actually started playing while in 8th grade and while none of my original players are still playing with me I still keep in contact with them. I started with D&D, then played AD&D 1st, 2nd (for a REALLY LONG TIME), 3rd, tried 4th and now I’m moving on to Pathfinder. RPGs have always been a passion.

Actually when I rebooted the campaign in 1993, 2 of my current players came on board shortly after. Of the seven players currently playing 2 have been playing with me for 14 years, one 13 years, one for 10 years, one for 7 and two relative newcomers within the last year. So I’ve been blessed with longtime players and as a result long time friendships.

Thank you both; this is exactly what I was looking for. I already have the Beta PDF, and I’m getting some of my players to come over and get themselves a copy. I also have the Prestige Classes and Magic Items.

Dru Lee Parsec, I’ve been playing FAR longer than 15 years, 22 years in fact, and the campaign world has been around for that long. The one that’s currently running, version 3, has only been around 15 years. I’m not a rule fanatic either, more interested in the story and having fun, but at least one of my players is very mechanical and I know he will pick the system apart, but I don’t think this is a bad thing.
As far as adventures go, I’ll download any free adventures to see how the implement things, but I rarely (if ever) run modules, I’d much rather tell my own stories. That’s part of the appeal fro me as a DM/GM.

Robert Hawkshaw thanks for the direct links. I’m looking at all this carefully.

If everything turns out the way I plan, I’ll probably be playing Pathfinder in about 8 weeks. I’ll come back here al let you know how it goes…

Have a great day, wherever you are!

Hello fellow gamers… I have not posted on these boards in a while, so I hope post this in the right place.

I gave D&D 4th ed. a try… I’ve been playing for six months, and will finish the mini campaign I’m running using the system in about two months, but looking to the future, I’ve realized 4th ed. doesn’t do it for me and my players. I’m thinking of using Pathfinder for my next campaign.

This is not meant as an attack on the system, or an attempt to declare one system superior to the other. Different strokes for different folks and all that. I just realize that my long running campaign (over 15 years now) is not a good fit for the new edition and from what I’ve read I think Pathfinder will be a better fit.

I’m getting the book when it comes out, but I don’t think I can wait that long to play, and am getting ready to use the Beta Rules for the game. However, I haven’t been here for all the discussion, and trying to sift through all the posts I’ve been getting a little lost. So I’m asking any hardcore Pathfinders fan for help, any rule change from Beta that’s appeared in the playtest process I should know about? Any pitfall I should avoid anything I should be on the lookout for?

Thank you in advance for any pointers and help you can give me.

Hope everyone has an excellent night.

Well I’m glad to see that this thread (which I started) seems to be going very well… Great that the magazine staff is chiming in and very interesting to hear what everybody else thinks I’m back because over the week I TRIED to work through Dragon #232 again to no avail.

I’ll stand by my decision to continue buying the magazine for a couple of issues more, hoping to see it improves. I guess my biggest request after going over it again is to make it useful for ALL fans of the game. I can live with occasional articles on computer games and even with the catalog at the end, but the whole magazine seems aimed at the newer player, the gamer who is just picking up the magazine after his first couple of games, Give us old games something too!

Well I’m not that old anyway… Here is wishing 324 is an improvement. I encourage all you posters to come back to discuss 324 when it come out.

Ok, I ranted about what I don’t like on the new Dragon (go to that forum and see, seems like I’m not the only one!), and there I said I would say what I like about Dungeon. Since I am a man of my word here it is.

Some background first. I was around when Dungeon began, and for a while I was a regular buyer and subscriber. I have always been a DM, but rarely do I use published adventures (2 times in 17 years gaming) but sometimes I did take ideas and encounters from some of the adventures, but even then that was a rare occurrence.

I dropped dungeon many years ago, and did not look back. The Contest of Champions brought me back, sort of. While I never run the adventures, I read the first one off a friends copy and liked it so much I was always on the lookout to read the next installment.

Then the Polyhedron/Dungeon merge brought me on board. I realize I was in the minority, but I loved it. The mini games were the main attraction, and all the other D20 goodies. When the new direction was announced I was concerned.

Still the definitive magazine for the DM sounded interesting. I got it and like it very much. The cover was great, CHECK, the adventures seemed interesting, had some ideas I could use, but best of all the maps and illustrations were great and these I get to use even more, CHECK! The columns although a little too simple for me seemed like a good start, Isle of dread, what fun, we need more of this style article, the NPC assassin great, and the booklet with the maps on the website was the icing on the cake.

You have a regular buyer of Dungeon, satisfied and happy. Now if Dragon could improve a little…

Robert thanks for the quick reply. I realize Gen Con is a distraction (Oh woe us who cannot go!). I understand the catalog and can live with it. What I disliked more specifically was First Watch. I realize not all you readership is web addicted and needs to see what is coming up but so many pages dedicated to news that are old by now to most people… I don’t know.

I did forget to mention the cover. It was uninspired. Dungeon, great, Dragon… well its shredded paper with a dragon behind it, peek-a-boo!

I am not dropping the magazine; I still have hope and believe it may evolve in this new phase. I am not here to tear down the hard work you guys put into the magazine, I’m here to voice my opinion in the hopes it will be heard.

Have a GREAT day!

Well, let me be among the first to congratulate you all at Paizo for the new look, and the message boards. Sorry to damper the celebration, but my first post here in the Dragon forum is a complaint. Well maybe that is too strong a word; let’s call it a constructive criticism.

While I generally like the new Dungeon (and I promise to sing its praises, and shortcomings on a post on the corresponding forum), I really disliked the new Dragon. There are various points I dislike, but my general opinion is that it was too simplified, made too much like ANY magazine on subject X… Short articles, really basic, I realize you need to get new readers, and keep the younger crowd attracted to the hobby, but I thought it seemed too far off the beaten path.

Sometimes innovation is good, but in my opinion this was not it. New feats and spells are ok, Ecologies are great, and the deadly sins article was fun, but the rest of the mag really had little to attract me. The news section, all the upcoming attractions and product spotlights were too much. These days most fans get the hot news online and the coverage just seems like cheap sales pitches. This done in small amounts, like before was ok, so many pages devoted to them well, it seemed like a waste.

Something for every class every issue sounds impractical and excessive, and a new race, well do we need more of those. Ok I’m ranting. I’ll give Dragon the benefit of the doubt, I’ve been reading it since number 112 after all, but the first impression was not positive.

However I am sold on Dungeon. I feel like and old cranky DM after writing this (and YES I do realize it is aimed at players now!). Here is hoping it gets better in a couple of issues. I’ll update this when the next issue comes in.

END OF RANT…
