That makes me sad. I have been playing since 2nd Ed D&D Rule zero has been in every RPG i have played. hell its half the fun of Table top vs video games and MMORPG I can fix what I don't like. But I guess if you are stuck with ROW you have to do what you have to do. My group has had a dex to damage feat for 10 years because it just makes sense. If Sneak attack works then so should dex to damage. Are our parties over powered yeah often but then that just opens up the available monsters for the GM to use at any given level. Like I always say its just a game we are not playing for money.
I am getting ready to GM again and my goal is to create a long running campaign based around a small mining town. I am fleshing out the town with a very detailed map and full stats for all NPC's and their relationships to all the PCs. The idea is for the PC to have strong attachments to the town and its people. I want them to have something to defend and care about. I am starting all PCs with 3 levels in NPC classes and i am writing a short fun get to know the town adventure. What I am looking for is a module or scenario for 1st or 3rd level characters that i can base near the town I have created. anyone have any good suggestions?
Ok I started writing one so here it is feel free to use this for your own characters if you like it and make suggestions it is still a work in progress. I Arthur Redbud, here after referred to as the cleric, do agree to provide the following services to ____________________, here after referred to as the client. For a period of no less than one (1) month and not to exceed (6) months. The cleric agrees to provide: 1.Magical healing and mundane medical care for the client and other members of his party (see Appendix I)
2.Combat to all threats to and enemies of the client that do not present a conflict of interest or violation of faith to the cleric.
3.An equal share of all basic camp duties. Including setting camp, gathering fodder, cooking, cleaning, and standing watch. 4.Basic divination as available. 5.Beneficial enchantment of party members. The client stipulates to the following: 1.All decisions concerning specific spells cast by the cleric will be at the discretion of the cleric. 2.The cleric is entitled to make any provisions he deems necessary to preserve his own life and standing with his patron deity. 3.When ever compatible with the safety and security of the party the cleric will be allowed eight (8) hours of rest and time for prayers each day. 4.The cleric will have veto power over the inclusion of other divine spell casters in the party. 5.The cleric will not be required to perform any duties that conflict with his religious beliefs. 6.The cleric will be allowed to view and/or compose any contracts that
7. In the event of his death if physically possible resurrection services will be provided and the cost divided evenly among the party in no less than one month. Time spent dead will be counted as one half (½) time for the purposes of compensation. I _____________________ agree to provide the following compensation to the cleric or, in the event of his death, if resurrection is not feasible, the church of Asmodeus along with at least 1 square inch of the clerics corpse. 1.1200 gp per month 2.The right of first refusal on all magical divine scrolls, wands, rod, or staves as well as wisdom enhancing magic items. Appendix I
My DM is running an evil campaign my character is a LE cleric of Asmodeus. What I am looking for are ideas for a contract that would be signed by the party leader regarding my membership in the party. I am also looking for a spell that would make said contract binding I know I have seen such a spell but now I can't find it.
on principal I agree but it is strange that the text says "usually do not stack with themselves." but there is nothing to say when "usually" is and as the penalty is of an unnamed type and the spell itself does not say one could argue the point. As a GM I would tend to rule no stacking however simply because it is a 1st level spell.

It might be cool to encourage them to keep it as a base of operations. the best long running campaigns we have ever run involved the party having a base of some king "The Crew of the Drunken Gypsy" (pirate ship) and "The Guild of the Dancing Rat"(an inn that became a neighborhood protection guild in Sharn) My players are saving up to buy the house from "Monster in the closet" we have a large group so I expanded it by adding a small isolated section of the catacombs of wrath buried below. I am going to shaft them on it using the taint rules from HoH. I may well give them a chance to try out foxglove manor too. They may not take the bait on it though because our elven wizard was really creeped out when lord foxglove turned out to be hot for him.

I just started as well and I'm making them locals for the most part. it ties them to sand point and gives them a bond. even the Sczarni thief and the cleric of Abadon have an interest in protecting their home. they can then be approached to join the path finders later as their fame grows.

yeah whatever else happens he is going to get a thieves brand. the fine however is a great idea
OK this is just a quick plea for help. I am running BO and was just about to send the PC's on the Boar Hunt. Our fighter decided he wanted a boar spear for the hunt and the party rogue and LE member of the Sczarni informed him he could get him one at a cut rate. He then proceeded to break in to the Red Dog smithy to steal one and fell afoul of one of the dogs. Now he has been arrested and is sitting in the goal. this is were we left off and I have until Sat 9/13 to decide what to do. My only idea is to use our cleric of Abadar as his parole officer and link them with a magic item or curse that forces them to stay near each other. An idea I stole from Belkar and Greenhilt in Order Of the Stick. Any other great ideas out there?
I am new to this setting and have not read a ton about Magnimar but what about slaves esp, young women for brothels or children for sweat shops always good to arouse the PCs' righteous indignation. Just a thought. Also after deciding to steal the idea about about the troop of kids emulating the pc's I was reading Skinsaw and decided that they would also make a great and very socking hook to drag the PCs into the murders. besides no one can be more selfish and greedy than a spoiled child. what do you think too far? |
