Thanks for the hard work on this document. I have found it a very helpful resource for my current Wrath Game (they are currently in book 4). I Converted the word document to PDF and added bookmarks to help find things more efficiently. The document can be found here.

Because it ruins organized play. Sorry to be blunt but this subject comes up every couple months, is talked back and forth on why it should and should not be done and frankly it isn't likely to change. This horse has been resurrected and beaten several times.

Have they started with the accusations yet?

Five posts above yours.

I am fascinated with debates about good and evil, whether it be in the gaming sphere or the religious sphere.

But here I am more intrigued by how the players of holy crusader types are oblivious to the fact that their characters are usually the problem in these conflicts.

Didn't see that one! thanks.

sips from the coke steven handed him, thinks it tastes like coke infused with sweet souls

I think it is about to get very, very interesting very soon. All this thread is missing now is someone to come along and bash us because we are VO's and we should act better than this.

Being a GenCon first timer, are the 1/4 hotel rooms Weds night through Sun or Thurs through Sun? Are the rooms set up where it's four dudes spooning in a twin bed or do they usually have enough space, including sleeper sofas to accommodate four people?

Of the 2 hotels listed 1 has 2 double beds and 1 has 2 queen beds. The rooms are Check-in Wed, Check-out Monday. You could quite possibly be 4 guys spooning. I know in my room my wife and I will be spooning :D

Paizo can state all they want that it is so the player has that resource available for rules questions but with the at your digital fingertips availability of all relevant info, that doesnt really pass the sniff test. Paizo wants to sell you more stuff.

First off, PFS is a marketing took for Paizo and if they ask you to purchase something to use the resource it is not that unreasonable to ask. If I am at a table GMing and a player has some odd thing I have never heard of I want a legal source to show me. Legal sources are identified as either the book, or a PDF with said players name on it, just like I am going to have the books with the resources I use for my GM. There are tons of books out there and a GM should not be expected to know everything about your character. While resources like Herolab/d20pfsrd/etc are great they are not always accurate, or up to the latest errata published by Paizo. I take a very hard stance against players that pirate material like this or expect to be able to use stuff from resources they don't own. Paizo does a lot of great things for their fan base. The least we can do is support them by purchasing their products and not stealing them.

I would like to announce that VL- James MacKenzie is the 2nd person in Arizona to become a 5 star gm. James is a published scenario writer, and a great story teller. I have had the pleasure to organize, coordinate, sit at his tables and had him sit at mine and he is always fun to have around. James has spend countless hours running and organizing games since PFS came out.

Huzzah!

Well done! I don't have words to express how awesome this is and how awesome it is to have you on board John (and Mike).

It isn't crap that you can only get GM credit 1 time and credit 1 time for playing. Unlimited replay has destroyed other Organized Play campaigns. Maybe PFS isn't for you if you think the above things. There are established rewards for GMing a scenario multiple times. So just because you only get character credit once doesn't mean you are not getting rewarded for running a scenario again.

Boons, hmm, have you read the forums more than just this post to complain about GM rewards? Before season 4 the boons were crap, the items could usually be purchased anyway and people said the chronicle sheets were nothing more than sheets with your gold on it. So mid-season 3, season 4 they started adding cool boons for completing scenarios. They are very well liked. Then in season 5 we got Faction Boons and other boons. Overall they have been generally well liked.

You keep bringing this topic up like it hasn't been discussed before and like your thoughts are original thoughts, I can assure you they are not, and it isn't going to change despite what you say or think about GM rewards.

The great thing about the GM Shared Prep Drive is it is community driven. Read the read me and add the content if it is that important to you.

In season 5 our primary motivations are to help PFS, which I think is what should be happening, we joined PFS, not the cheliax faction, and occasionally we get the opportunity to help our faction out. Factions should help with background of characters and motivations but they should not dominate everything like they did before.
How about you don't try and dictate how other players roleplay their characters. Just because you think every PC's primary loyalty should be to PFS doesn't mean that is true for everyone. It's not BadWrongFun that my sorceror is just using the society as a means to the end of advancing his social standing in Cheliax.

I never told someone how to role-play their characters and I would appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth stating that I did. What I said, and let me say it again so you understand, is in previous seasons it was all about helping out ones faction, and who cares about the organization you decided to join, this was especially true in season 0-2, it shifted slightly in season 3 and 4 in that you had 1 mission from the society, of which you are a member of, and 1 from your faction. Now in season 5 it has shifted again so that the society sends you on a mission and you get fame from doing that, but if you go above/do what the society expects all of its members to do you get some extra fame and occasionally you get to help your faction out when the opportunity arises and if you do so you get special advantages other people would not get. I never said it was badwrongfun to join the society to further your interests, in fact I said your faction should be part of your background and part of roleplaying your character, you just don't have to have a faction mission to do that, nor does making an entire party of the same faction with your friends stop because you don't have a faction mission to do.

People act like you have to have a faction mission to roleplay your character, and you really don't.

PFS should allow a free retrain into and out of the classes during the playtest period.

Once again, I strongly urge PFS to allow some sort of one level or multi level rebuild during the playtest. All rebuilds should be reversed at the end of the period. And as a GM, I'm motivated to allow it just so that Paizo/PFS can get good feedback.

I completely disagree with these points. People work as Tier 1 Judges at Gencon to get the opportunity to retrain for free. PFS should not allow people to retrain their existing characters in and out just to test things. There are plenty of us using gm credit to test high level builds and others building level 1 characters that will rise up in level to test those levels.

Um, ok.

I would suggest you take a look at the document again. While they are a blend of 2 classes you cannot achieve what any of these do by multiclassing and you would not be more powerful. This is a playtest, it is designed to gather feedback from people playing these classes to make ti better. Making an account to make the post complaining about something with no real positive feedback or suggestions as you have above just seems like the exact opposite of what the spirit of the playtest is all about. If you don't like the book don't buy it.

Drendle Drang, we all know he is a vampire, look at when he gives all of his missions, and Grandmaster Torch.

From Day 1 I had a severe dislike of GM Torch and felt he was a very shifty individual. My suspicions were confirmed. That man needs to die.

Using their position as GM to twist language and create an absurd situation just to neutralize a character is an abuse of GM authority to control the game and deserves mockery.
You'd be shocked how many GMs I've met think that its their job. I wouldn't say it deserves mockery though, probably could find a better way to phrase your dislike.

So if you have had so many bad gms then why don't you step up and show them the proper way to do it? Gm's are human and do make mistakes but at least they are willing to volunteer their time to run something for you to enjoy. To be honest, especially with your posting history, you sound like the type of player that cheeses the rules and tries to bend and break them just to "win"
