About Solaufyn IthilnelleHistory:
Solaufyn Ithilnelle (SOUL-ow-finn EETH-eel-nell) was born to Maeglin and Marinwen Ithilnelle, residents of a small elven village in the Faerie Kingdom of Celene. His father was a soldier in the Hateful Wars, a series of conflicts which drove the savage humanoids out of the Lortmils and as far east at the lands of what is now called the Pomarj. His mother was the beauty of the village, as it is widely-believed that Marinwen's family descended from an elven warrior-prince and a nymph. From an early age, Solaufyn's parents instilled in him a strong sense of right and wrong, as there was so much wrong in the world outside of Celene, which constantly threatened to invade the Faerie Kingdom and extinguish the light of elvenkind from the Oerth. His mother, a devotee of Hanali Celanil, the elven goddess of beauty, romance, fine arts, and enchantments, taught him of the world's beauty, even in its dark places.
Solaufyn demonstrated a natural talent for art and performance, his early life spent becoming a skilled painter, as well as adept at song and dance. As the young elf developed, he applied the same artistic skills towards wizardry, as he found that many of the same concepts applied. Solaufyn learned to weave a spell as gracefully as he sang epic hymns or danced with the young elf-girls of the village. When he came of age, and Solaufyn was eager to see the world outside his village, he left with his parents' permission and caution, for the world was full of evil, and he would be hard-pressed to find a place as peaceful as the Faerie Kingdom. He traveled west, over the Lortmils his father had fought for decades to purge of orcs and goblins, and into the Sheldomar Valley, where Solaufyn encountered civilizations under siege by the giants of the Crystalmists. He understood and respected Her Fey Majesty's wisdom, and her policy of isolationism for the purpose of protecting elvenkind from the endless wars of others. But at the same time, he believed that he and his arcane ability could help the people of the Sheldomar, and keep the giants from ever reaching his people. So instead of turning away, Solaufyn decided to stay and help. Appearance:
Solaufyn is a tall, attractive, noble-looking grey elf, with long silvery-black hair and eyes that seem to glitter like sapphires. He maintains a clean, handsome appearance, and prefers fashionable, well-tailored outfits while on adventures. A golden heart pendant always dangles from his neck, a symbol of his love for his goddess. He has a radiant demeanor, a constant inspiration to the downtrodden people he intends to help, the sort of person that troubled souls naturally feel comfortable around.
Over time, Solaufyn has learned that for the people of the Sheldomar, mistrust of arcanists runs deep, as the whole Valley was once the empire of Vecna. In order to prevent any trouble, he avoids the appearance of a storybook wizard, instead choosing to take on the appearance of a charismatic, respectable bard. Personality:
Solaufyn, above all, comes across as a genuinely altruistic person. He is most often a joyous presence wherever he goes. He is a courageous, heroic individual, believing that the forces of evil crumble quickly when faced with the blinding light of goodness. He often shows mercy to his enemies, and is not one to deny forgiveness to repentant foes. Underneath, there is a subtle arrogance, as he sees the elves as the highest of the civilized races, blessed with the ability to help the other well-meaning peoples of the Oerth, showing them a better way to live in harmony with each other and their environment. He is not without a measure of vanity, a product of his worship of Hanali Celanil. Solaufyn Ithilnelle
