I feel ashamed for asking really, but I'll try to be quick.

Let's say I have a Wizard 5, with a hawk animal companion, and I have spent 8 points to gain 4 ranks of Spot. How many ranks does the animal companion have? 8 because that's how many points I spent? Or 4 because that's how many ranks I have in it? Does the fact that they're cross-class for me, and not for the hawk really matter?

That being said, I'm glad in a PRPG game, I wouldn't have to worry about it. But, I'm in a bi-weekly 3.5 game at the moment. Usually I don't even bother with a familiar, but this is the first time I've ever felt that it's marginally useful.

Anyway, any insight would help. And thanks in advance.

If a wizard decides to make a two-handed weapon his arcane bond, is he able to case spells without making the concentration check, if he holds it with only one hand? There seems to be some disagreement with the wording in the Arcane Bond entry:

PRD wrote:
If the object is an amulet or ring, it must be worn to have effect, while staves, wands, and weapons must be wielded. If a wizard attempts to cast a spell without his bonded object worn or in hand, he must make a concentration check or lose the spell.
PRD wrote:
Two hands are required to use a two-handed melee weapon effectively

The idea being, in order to wield a two-handed weapon, for the purposes of being able to cast spells without having to make a concentration check, you must have it in both hands. Obviously, you can't cast spells if both your hands are occupied.

I'm curious to know if the original group of Dragonlance characters have ever had their character sheets released on the internet at all? I'd specifically be interested in Caramon and Raistlin..

Well, the title says it all.. I'm looking for the opportunity to play in a PRPG PBP. I'd prefer to play in a game that has the hope of going through an entire AP, but will be willing to play in anything really..

I'm sorry if this is discussed somewhere, i've tried to look, and couldn't find it. Why does the chart for the Wizard show that you get a school power at every other level, and the actual powers listed in the Spells section only have a power listed for 1st 8th and 20th level?

A fellow Paizonian, on another thread, said:

"Self Publishing is a great concept, but it really is best for those that want to run a business. I don't mean to sound like I am trying to talk you out of self publishing, if that is what you want to do. I just hope to help you consider everything involved in that road. "

What are some advice/tips to someone considering 'self publishing'?

Kind of curious as to what people's thoughts are on what the best non-WotC 3.5 material they use in their games. I just recently bought the Advanced Players Manual and Advanced GameMasters Guide by Green Ronin, and I'm waiting for it to ship. So, while I'm waiting, what's the best (non-WotC) 3.5 material you use?

I remember reading in a thread once, someone broke down 3.5 into 'tiers of play' or some such thing. As I am extremely unfamiliar with what constitutes low/mid/high levels, and what 'tiers' this post referred to, I find that it could make my life as a DM infinitely better. If i remember they were broken up into 4-6 'tiers' from 1 through ~20. Could someone enlighten me as to what the 'tiers' of 3.5 would be, and at what levels that is?

Just curious, how does the archer combat style interact with a crossbow wielding ranger? It seems (to me) that they'd be wasted feat. So, how does a crossbow ranger make sense?

Just a thought that I wished to share..

I hope Paizo has an Adventure Path focused on the dwarven people, similar to the way Second Darkness was focused on elves... Even if it's just a thought in the back of their head..

Edit: Or Gnomes too.. I'm very interested in the whole "Bleaching" thing, and would like to explore that in game..

Just sayin...

Okay, i'm at work, not supposed to be on here, lol. I'm trying to find the thread that had a post where someone broke 3.5 down into 'tiers of play', complete with names for each 'tier'.. Anyone care to point me to the thread/post that i'm talking about?

Thanks in advance

Mahna Mahna!

Edit: Sorry, bored at work. Move along people, move along. lol

Okay, first, I'd like to point out that I love planning campaigns. I've also recently started actually using google docs and groups to 'write out' ideas for my custom setting/world. As a DM, who's next new game isn't for a while, I'm worried about my players willingness to participate in the game. The reason: My players are so used to 3.5 and having all the splatbooks available to them, with all the new base classes, prestige classes, feats and spells at their fingertips, that I'm afraid of how they'd react when I say "Okay boys and girls, in this game we're playing with this one book (PfRPG)." Not only that, but I also want to limit the PrC's to a maximum of 1 in a PC's career (however that will be handled in PFRPG). This setting of mine will be using the PF RPG rules, and as such, I'd like to not go outside that for our first PF game. What should I do?

I'll let you in on a secret:

Spoiler:

All of the paizo employees are forced to eat a very specific lunch consisting of: 2 double amazing-burgers, an extra large order of wow nuggets, a large excellence shake, and a side of awesome sauce.
Shhh.. don't tell anyone. Hopefully being down here in Off-Topic land, they won't see me.

I'm creating this thread in an attempt to plea for help. I've scoured the internet trying to find information and I simply cannot find what I'm looking for. So, as a last resort, I turn to you, the Paizo community, for help. Can anyone tell me any information, or point me to a site, about making dice? Not paper dice, or formed aluminum foil, but actual dice. I've looked for how-to's, searched wikipedia, and tried to find dice molds. Does anyone out there know this apparently forbidden secret?

Now, i know i see all over the place about how wizards should stay away from 'blaster' spells, i was curious to know: If i were to make a blaster-mage type character, what's my best options?

This is a creation of a couple good friends of mine, and they've finally got it published. It's really fun, and let's just say your d12's are no longer useless. If you have a d12, a couple d6's, and an imagination, you're ready to play. Here's the hardcopy. And if you just want the pdf at a much lower price, check here.

Oh, and the main website where they release free content is >here<
